  1. Just so people know, there's a stream on Twitch now where they answer questions: https://www.twitch.tv/chewwy94 And their web page: https://fenixsim.com/
  2. So it's simulating GPS satellites and they know if some of them are down. So you can deselect Navstar satellites in the Predictive GPS page on the MCDU. By serial number. Bonkers.
  3. I did. I read that they had identified and fixed it. The thing I didn't see was that it wouldn't be implemented until next update. I have not said anything about the performance update. I said the performance was good.
  4. Just a misunderstanding on my part then. I thought it was fixed. Thanks for your answers.
  5. Okay, thank you guys. That's good to know. I'll have to be a bit more patient then. Should I delete my post? Maybe I should just update it.
  6. I thought they said they had identified it and fixed it already?
  7. Update: This fix is coming July 27th. Sorry for my impatience. Hello, So I have been looking forward to flying again, and when I finally had the time and chance to do it, disappointment was imminent. I have read in these forums that the narrow circle of trees was fixed in the latest update. That it was a problem that had something to do with proximity to the poles, at southern and northern latitudes. And that Asobo had fixed it. I loaded up at ENTO - Torp in Southern Norway, and headed west towards ENNO - Notodden. A short but scenic VFR flight in the Mooney. My settings are everything on Ultra - Glass Refresh at Medium, both LODs at 200, Scaling at 100 on 3440x1440. Performance was good all the way. But the tree line. It stops before the nose of the aircraft. I have to lean over to see it. It looks absolutely ridiculous. I was flying at 4500 feet. The tree line was not like this in the early days of the sim. Not even close. What on earth is going on? And how can they say that it is fixed? Right now this irks me so much I just want to give up on flight sim. This has been broken for months. VFR flying in GA aircraft is what I use the sim for. This wouldn't be a problem at 35,000 feet, but I don't fly airliners. I have no tree mods installed. I have the latest version of the sim and latest drivers.
  8. 1. The 960 might need new thermal paste and pads 2. High GPU utilization is typical of MSFS, and starts already in the menus 3. 75C is not high for a GPU. 85C is normal. 4. The reason you're seeing higher GPU temps now with the R5 compared to the old i5 is that previously your i5 might have been holding the GPU back. The CPU is now not the bottleneck, the GPU is.
  9. I've just only enabled XMP profile in bios, which tunes the memory to "sync" with the CPU clock. On my AMD system I've set FClock to 1:1. Meaning 1800 MHz (3600 MHz in dual). That worked fine with (4x16) 64 GB 3600 MHz CL16, no issues. Adding memory shouldn't mess up your CPU overclock, but it might make it more difficult to get a stable overclock on the RAM. Having more VRAM doesn't reduce the amount of system RAM in use, at least not on my system. I get up to 27-28 GB RAM usage when running MSFS, Plan-G and a couple of browser tabs. I've seen VRAM usage at around 9-11 GB, but very rarely. Like MattNischan said, World Update 5 is bringing very nice performance updates. 32 GB RAM should be plenty after the update.
  10. Thanks for the video, Glenn. Looks good! May I ask what airport you flew out of? Looks like a nice area for some bush flying.
  11. I bought the C170, it seems nice. It flies well, looks good, sounds good. But the battery went flat 5 minutes into the flight. Which apparently is an imported bug from the FSX/P3D version.
  12. I have a feeling they imported that bug. The battery went flat about 5 minutes into the flight.
  13. Seems to fly well. Sounds are okay. Looks good. No autopilot. And where's the alternator switch?
  14. That's very interesting, hopefully the info helps some people.
  15. Everything on Ultra, Glass refresh at Medium, both LOD at 200 and 100 scaling on 3440x1440. Software running at the same time is usually one Chrome browser window (Windy) and Plan-G on a separate monitor.
  16. I've had similar issues in the PA44 as well, what I found out was that as long as you're not touching any AP settings / buttons until you're airborne, it usually works fine. If you start clicking buttons on it on the ground, it just messes up while in flight.
  17. RAM usage for me us sometimes 27-28 GB, but apparently the update coming with WU5 will improve performance and lower RAM usage to about half that.
  18. If any developers read this thread, I have the following suggestion: Please make a CL-215 or CL-415 Water bomber / Fire Fighting aircraft. The difference between them is the 415 is the turbine version of the 215 radial engine version. It's amphibious and would be an awesome addition to MSFS. Especially if you're able to implement particle physics for dropping water on targets. For those of us who like VFR and bush flying, this would be a perfect aircraft. Scooping water from lakes and dropping it on (imaginary) targets. https://www.wikiwand.com/en/Canadair_CL-415 https://www.wikiwand.com/en/Canadair_CL-215
  19. I'm usually getting around 45-60 fps in rural areas, and 30-45 fps in urban / complex areas on 3440x1440 resolution. I mostly fly the Carenado Mooney. That's with everything on Ultra, Glass refresh at Medium, both LODs at 200 and 100% scaling, no fps lock, but G-Sync on. So I will attempt to get stable 60+ fps in urban / complex areas.
  20. Thanks for the review! I might have to get this one. I'm loving the vintage aesthetic, and the tundra tire / bush wheel version might be cool flying around the PNW with. 😄 And thanks for the pictures, Todd2
  21. Which aircraft were you flying? The DC-6 has a bug where it starts lagging until you click one of the checklists / first officer things on the tablet.
  22. Seems like a cool little plane. If anyone buys it, please leave us a little review?
  23. Where were you flying when this happened? I've heard others having CTD issues if they fly in the Nordics, but not closer to the Equator. Maybe the tree line fix messed something up?
  24. I disagree about that one. Going from 3900X to 5900X improved performance in cities and highly complex scenery for me. By a lot. But with the coming performance upgrade, maybe it won't be necessary.
