  1. I'm testing them out now, and from what I've seen so far I really like them. I've only been flying locally, so have yet to see much variety in weather and layers and therefore can't say for certain if they work well, or better for me in all cases. As with REX I've always favored a crisper cloud edge to the soft versions, which the default xE clouds look more like. The shots of the new official HD clouds slated for 1.07 look very good, particually the cirrus. Despite the improved default clouds I have no regrets with paying for xE, which still delivers far better skyscapes IMHO. If they added some manual control, or even set themes I would be even happier.
  2. Great shots Michael. Like others here I'm bowled over by XP especially with v11 and its noticable improvements over v10. The more I add and the more used I get to its workings, the less I use P3D, which is still as stunning flight sim without doubt. There is something fresh and alive about XP that I love.
  3. Great shots HL. Does the area in pic14 suffer flash flooding I wonder?
  4. Those are some great looking shots. I've just been trying the HD clouds and they do look very good. Can't wait for 1.07 and the official new textures.
  5. X-Plane11 - xEnviro1.06 with SHD clouds. We really are getting somewhere with weather depiction in XP. The new shots of xE 1.07 with its new clouds looks amazing, but for now, these will do nicely.
  6. lua has plug-in management where you can tick on/off any plug-ins, and you can also turn xEnviro off from its own menu, hence I was wondering why the need to remove, or move it at all. I wondered if it could still pose come conflict? I've not seen any problem in simply turning it off, but maybe there are with other plug-ins; I've not tried BetterSky for instance. Anyway, its great we now have better weather options with the new default clouds. Ok they do sometimes look like a mat of fleece, but most of the time they are now very passable, great even.
  7. I agree, it has produced some amazing looking, and highly acurate weather, but its also great to have choice. I'm curious why people are removing xEnviro, when you can just deactivate it. It cannot affect anything just being there can it?
  8. Big'ish iron beauty at its best.
  9. Thanks all :) Hi Chock. Thank you very much you for all that. I will have to read through it a few times, but.... I'm going to dig in to this and try to get to grips with the art of gliding/sailing. There is something primal, and somehow deeply peaceful (no doubt quite stressful, and not really peaceful in real life) about this form of flying that greatly appeals. Onwards and hopefully upwards, some of the time at least
  10. So the clouds are better, but still a million miles away from xEnviro. I'll use them sometimes for sure, but (much) more work needs to be done. Banding still there :(
  11. Thanks OP :) The new clouds look much better, and will compliment my xE environment very well, when I'm not using it. Sometimes default works well enough, with no interjection from any add-ons. Such as, when the weather does not match what I want to be able to fly; fog, very high winds, very low cloud and the list could go on. PB14.......... onwards and upwards
  12. Some amazing examples of the Earth's scenic wonders, captured to perfection.
  13. A couple from XP11 with xEnviro and Blu FX. Over Ortho with GB Pro. I've no idea what I'm doing with a glider but it looks nice.
  14. Well yes, that is all very well, but it should also be up to developers who decide to give up the business to ensure their customers can use the software they have paid lots of money for. There are exceptional circumstances, such as death, or serious illness, but otherwise there is little excuse to leave those loyal to you to suffer this sort of thing. I have no way to restore my ES software and quite frankly it stinks, especially as Orbx gave them a lifeline. At least RealAir are doing the right thing, with activation's still working and a promise to, at some point, allow their customers to continue to use what they have bought when the activation system is taken offline. Its hard to know, but in this digital age you have to think about who you give your money to.
  15. Ah well, I guess there IS always something. The more we get, the more we want
  16. There is something very nice about those boxed products though. You feel you really own what you've paid for, rather than just owning a licence, even if that has always been the case, despite the packaging. I still buy my console games as hard copies, but at least you can trade or sell them on. Same with film or music, which I buy on Blu Ray and CD or Vinyl, where holding something means something, even if I do have to store the bloody things
  17. Apart from the over sharp, over bright horizon, this is a great representation of an overcast sky, as seen from above. I still think xE is the master of extended cloud layers and realistic atmospherics, but this has more detail in the stratus layers.
  18. VSKYLABS released patched updates for their Trike package today to overcome the engine issues that developed with pb12, and these ac's are working pefectly with pb13 as well, with no engine issues as far as I can tell. Performance seems really good, but without a formal benchmark I would be loath to claim a general improvement for everybody. It might all be in my stupid head
  19. No change in the graphics issues, such as banding and glowing trees, but performance seems huge so far. I don't do formal testing, but areas that lagged seems to be running very smoothly thus far. Regardless things are good here, with no unwanted side effects at the moment.
  20. Lets hope number 13 is not unlucky for some I've not seen the release notes, but have gone for it anyway.
