  1. And very nice they are too..... almost a match for FS9 But, I do really love what xEnviro does with the atmosphere in general, especially with the 3rd party freeware add-on cloud textures, which make it look absolutely blooming stunning at times. I do turn xE off when conditions with real weather don't look right, or suit my flying, and its very pleasing the sky's now look 'almost' as good when I do. My avatar was taken with the new default clouds ;) Stunning shot Murmur.
  2. Looking forward to this. I love your Trike and Fox and this looks like another great ac for those of us who like the pace a bit slooower. I really want to get into gliding and this looks to be just the kit to do it in.
  3. I would not be without either simulator. They may be both flight sims, but they are very different in looks, feel and add-ons available, although there is some crossover. For me XP is the perfect platform for building photoscenery and exploring relatively small areas in very high (and highly accurate) detail, and this can all be done for free, which is great. P3D is the perfect platform for building a great looking landclass based sim, with multi seasons and more opportunity for making detailed weather, but the best stuff is generally payware. This is how I split mine anyway, with the addictive building of ortho tiles on XP and full Orbx covered world in P3D, and I enjoy both equally (and find they are both equally annoying at times) I'm looking forward to XP11 reaching final, and ironing out the remaining wrinkles. Likewise I'm very interested to see what P3Dv4 will bring, and hope its more than just bringing the engine in to the 64bit world, which I'm sure it will be. For what is considered a niche market we a remarkably well served and are very lucky IMHO.
  4. Thank you for the heads-up jh71 :) Seems quite good so far. Sky banding greatly improved. Seems to run well, but too early to really say to be honest. Reflections on water still doing their little dance, so that still needs a fix (edit: shadows too) I'll leave it to others to test to trivial stuff, like how aircraft fly etc Feels close to XP11 v1.0 (a non beta, but still really -cough-cough- a beta) to me Looking very positive anyway.
  5. As we're in the XP forum I would suggest the same ;) If this was the P3D forum I'd say hold off getting v3 and wait for v4, but still get XP11 By the time v4 comes along you may then find you don't need or want it as XP meets all your needs.
  6. There is a very weird agenda among a certain core of XP users, that seem hell bent on destroying the thing they like, or seriously limiting its future. As a fairly new XP devotee I'm baffled by what goes on over this side of the fence. I would not want to be a developer trying to break in to the XP market, that's for sure.... yikes
  7. Great pics Ryan, and what a wonderful sleek looking bird. I'll add it to my wish list.
  8. I did mess with this setting in an earlier beta, then I found setting it to 10 or any high value crippled my performance, and until today I hadn't touched it again. With PB15 setting it to 10 seems not to affect performance at all (or if it does it's only a frame or two) but in the planes I tried - Default C172 - Vskylabs Fox and Trike - setting it to 10 I can feel no difference what so ever :( Maybe its me, and I am less sensitive to the extra polling of the flight model, but be it big inputs, small inputs, or chucking it around like a lunatic the flight seem unchanged. Maybe some ac's are more sensitive to to it than others, so I'm missing the benefit in my chosen planes? It could also be my cheap Saitek stick that lacks the sensitivity to my inputs and is letting things down; I really do need to upgrade that component.
  9. That first shot is a real corker.
  10. Heavy, stormy, moist weather, perfect for the local.
  11. Great all round. Sky, terrain, aircraft, all perfect.
  12. I know, and what you say is true, but I do have both products, and despite the limitations of the host sim I prefer the results xEnviro creates over AS2016. In fact I don't use AS2016 very much, as for some reason its hopeless for giving acurate weather for my local airports, which is where I do most of my flying; I only do local GA trips, remaining within a couple of hundred miles of my home. FSX/P3D does without doubt have more scope for creating far more detailed weather, but it can end up looking like a dogs dinner. REX in XP11 will be interesting if it happens, and I have been waiting expectantly for Skyforce in P3D since that video, which seems like years ago The REX team make some great products, but they seem to get slower and slower at delivering, so I'm not holding my breath for SF in XP11....... and I've not forgiven them for the awful Weather Architect yet :(
  13. Nope, me either. I've not had an OOM since the broken v3.2 that was quite quickly fixed. So people can't beat all references to P3D with this rather worn out stick.......... However, there is little to keep me on that platform as my primary sim now be it 32bit or 64bit, as XP does all I want far better; but that maybe is just me. As for weather engines, xEnviro seems to produce weather every bit as good as AS on the whole. It often produces better looking conditions, and totally accurate in terms of what I see locally, where AS often misses the mark for me locally.
  14. Yeah. AVSIM looked a mess on Edge, but no warnings and block. I've just made an exception in Firefox now and carry on as normal. I did this before seeing the tip about making a new bookmark, but as there seems to be no real risk I'm not worried.
  15. I have been getting it on Firefox actually Jim. Not with Edge though.
  16. Thanks simmers :) Off to try 1.2.
  17. Ah ha! I was surprised you didn't like them Mitch. Glad you got it sorted. I see there is a new version now v1.2.
  18. Thank you. I'm using the v1.1 set.
  19. Some messing around with the add-on clouds for xEnviro. Running the 2048 set. Quite nice I think, a definite step up over the original textures IMHO.
  20. Thank you Ryan. Thank you for the kind comment.
  21. The long goal yes. The power requirements are prohibitive currently, but that doesn't mean techniqes can't be found to make it viable, rather than just needing more horsepower. 2D clouds look great most of the time, but when you get too close, or fly through them the illusion is shattered. xEnviro gets around this quite well, althought the white-out effect is a bit much I'm finding.
