  1. It's Scotland - It's raining 😄
  2. Is the sim alone using that much, or is that in total?. Can you reduce the load by closing other apps down?. I used to have 8GB and XP would use it all, but it would not crash as it would use the page file. Stuttered like buggery though.
  3. Have you monitored RAM use? I have 16GB and have not come close to using it all. The max I've seen was around 10GB with a mix of Med, High settings on a GTX1060. Based on my usage there would be no point but ymmv.
  4. I agree with this 100%. I was very surprised with the seemingly early release, and expected some bumps in the road with it, which there is. But, I'm confident this will speed it along in a mature platform quicker than if it had remained behind closed doors for longer.
  5. Standard DVD and no issues. I read the prompts, selected the desired location, on it's own drive, and spent a few hours waiting and swapping discs, which was quicker than using our slow broadband. Downloaded the core sim, then a tedious 16GB update download to bring it to the latest build, and flew!. So, lucky it seems compared to some. If we had a better connection I would not have gone for the box, but it's actually a nice package, with a booklet and key guide, so I'm happy to have it, and more importantly it all worked.
  6. I removed XP11 a few weeks ago, a platform I enjoyed for a couple of years, but there are so many issues, niggles and undesirables, with the need for a ton of tweaks and apps, that I'm delighted to be rid of the bloody thing. While waiting for for the final of MSFS I put back P3Dv4.5 and had some fun with it again, and in many-many ways it's far better than XP11, but this morning I thought I'd have a little flight using it, just as a comparison......... and it's gone 🤣
  7. No doubt there is a lot of this, but not in all cases. It's just a PC platform thing, with so many variables. Go and look at the PC release of the AAA title Horizon Zero Dawn to see how even the best gaming titles suffer the same thing on release. My experience with MSFS has been amazing so far, with a smooth (DVD) install and only one CTD after many hours hopping around the globe. Even on our slow 10Mbps connection the scenery streams in with no issues. So I have had no need to moan or even visit Avsim much, which is always a doom and gloom forum of misery, as I have been in a near state of jaw dropping amazement since my first flight. I'm very confident the genuine issues will be ironed out quickly and this will mature into into an absolute beast of a sim platform. There is no way in hell I will go back to XP or P3D. If MSFS goes then I'll be finding another hobby 😄
  8. I've had more WOW moments in the past few hours, than I had in my whole time with FSX>P3D>XP11 and then I had to use multiple add on's and a whole load of fiddling and tweaking. The lighting and weather in this thing is stunning.
  9. Yes to that and the rest of your post. Thank you MS and Asobo for making FS great again 🥰
  10. Amazing reviews, which are very well deserved. Congratulations Asobo and MS. 🙏
  11. I’ve always been something of a virtual tourist in flight sim, spending hours/days/weeks making ortho in X-Plane, with some very mixed results. The joy of this is it's already there, no messing with tile creation etcetera, which was always fun to some degree, but if the results were poor, then that time seemed waisted. Just to pick a random part of the globe and go there with no work beforehand is going to be wonderful. Ok, some places won't be so good, but that's fine I'll just head somewhere else. P3D was good with some Orbx scenery, but never real enough (TE and large airports exuded) for marvelling at the scenery. No more messing with xVision, not that it works properly with Vulkan, not more dealing with Matt and PTA 🤐 no more finding the right textures in REX. Just load and go.
  12. Why are so many here intent on sucking the joy from this? So many glass half empty people. The sea looks amazing! My first flight has to be close to the sea, somewhere like the west coast of Ireland, with some stormy weather.
  13. Yup. Of course it won't be. The devs have said so many times that development doesn't stop on the 18th, but what can you do? Come release day the last place I'll be is here wallowing in Avsim misery. I'll be off exploring new and exciting locations and having fun. Each to thier own though 🤣
  14. Don't then 🙄 No one is forcing you to, and this sim will need less spent that any other. Stay with what you've got if the thought of adding some high quality 3rd party content makes you so miserable. The thing that makes me depressed is reading this forum 😒 but, no one is forcing me, so I've only myself to blame 🤪
  15. So, the best clouds in flight simulation, or any game I'm aware of, are not good enough eh? I suppose there is always room for improvment, but flipping heck, simmers are hard to please 🤪
  16. Sorry for lowering the tone 😊 It's a very cool vid, just to be serious for a moment 😎
  17. What a time to be a simmer 😮 This is looking better and better with each passing day, and we've not even started yet.
  18. My XP11 install and all that went with it was eviscerated yesterday along with any lingering P3D files I was holding on to - just in case - they are now nothing but a memory, and not a good one either. MSFS gives me everything I want, and a whole lot more. It may not suit everyone, but they have the choice to use it or not.
  19. Yup, It is baffling and depressing. I would like to say I'm surprised by some of the twaddle posted here....but🤪 The Digital Foundary video is a great watch as usual. I love those guys and I can't wait for their more in depth look when it's released.
  20. Yes I agree, and it's a getting bit silly in some of these cases. Yes, if there is something really amiss, then fine, point it out, but some of this is wanting fidelity that is not realistically possible at this point in time, with the resources and tech available. Not to mention a development time frame where we actually see a release. From where we are, to where we are going is a huge leap. Can we not be content with that?
  21. It's a great film, very emotional and thought provoking. Anyone watched the TV series DEVS which aired recently? That delved into this area of discussion in some ways - free will v predetermination, and that the future is already mapped out.
  22. Nice one OP! and I agree with all you say. It's great to see what is going on in the development process and getting to see so many screenshots of it all coming together. I think Asobo are a talented, nice and very open bunch and I will be supporting them come release. Ignore the Avsim miserable crew, that try to suck the life out of anything positive, they just can't help themselves 🤣
  23. All looking good, apart from shot six by Nightxpress6423, which is quite ugly. Also the water in #7 by Whitelight506, looks a bit out of scale in terms of wave height, with no shore interaction, considering those waves would be huge!. Having said that I don't expect perfection in all scenarios, in which case I'm happy to say it looks amazing overall.
