  1. Wasn't sure what SPAD was so had to look, would I need that to just use the switch panel or is that just for the Radio and Multi-function panel? Not trying to overly complicate it. Maybe I'll just get another throttle quadrant and use the function keys on the bottom for master, avionics, lights, gear and flaps.
  2. Just over a year and half ago when I rediscovered flight sims I bought a Saitek Cessna Yoke, throttle quadrant and pedals. I had no issue setting these up, just yanked two drawers out of my desk and hooked everything up. When I'm not using it I throw it in a cabinet and put my drawers back in. Well it's been too nasty out to fly real planes this winter so I got back to playing with Prepar3D. I want to get another throttle quadrant for twins and was thinking over maybe that switch panel from saitek. I remember reading at some point that P3D had issues recognizing and configuring these. I recently started using FSUIPC and was wondering if that solves any compatibility issues. Thanks!
  3. To be honest I can't really tell a difference in 2.0-2.4 so not going to bother running 2.5 until my Orbx, Active Sky and REX all work fine. I try to limit my addons, so once those 3 are a go I'll go ahead and update.
  4. On the topic of video cards I used a 570 for the first year, recently upgraded to a 970 and it's night and day difference.
  5. That's okay. I'll keep using Foreflight and the 530 in the 206. I'm not sure what the nose up issue is. I typically hand fly it and then at 1000 AGL go to autopilot. Okay I just looked up what you were talking about. I use TrackIR so if the horizon doesn't look right I'll sit up higher or move my head to where it 'feels' correct.
  6. I jump around planes quite a bit. However lately I've been flying the Carenado 206. I like the default A36 as well.
  7. Just to be clear here, will the 750 or rather the 650 work with all planes in the game? I recently got a 650 installed in my actual plane and would like to emulate that for my instrument training. Thanks!
  8. No clue, but it's a neat looking airplane.
  9. Same and I have a 970 on order. I'm sure I'll be happy, then in a few months I'll get another and SLI it.
  10. Looks like the cards are sold out now. I guess I'll wait a week or so for inventory and decide between the 970 and 980. My 570 needs to be replaced.
  11. That's always been my big hangup. I only fly GA aircraft and those aren't complicated so I'm always looking around, at about FL50 it's fine but you get lower and it can look strange.
  12. I have mine set to 127 sensitivity and a 15 null zone. I used to have the sensitivity lower but was having problems with differential braking disengaging. As for foot position I generally have my heels on the floor just like I do in most GA planes. Some smaller planes like a 152 I have to consciously keep my toes from pushing forward on takeoff and landings.
  13. I finally deciphered all the various Orbx products and ended up getting FTX Global and Vector. I fly only GA aircraft and don't fly consistently out of the same airports. This seemed to be the best option rather than buying individual Photo realistic scenery packages. Going from default to FTX just illustrates that I need a better Video card than my Nvidia 570.
  14. Your best bet would be to use an actual G1000 trainer if you're looking for true functionality. Since your life isn't dependent on it with the game you'll get an overall 'feel' of using it... although I get frustrated a bit with the dials.
  15. So I hate to say it but over the last year I've played this game maybe 300 hours. I would find myself wanting to play one battle and 10 battles later I'm still playing. I would say the Arcade mode is pretty arcadey. The historic or realistic mode (Can't remember what they call it now) is a happy medium for me. Still 3rd person view, has some better flight dynamics but doesn't force you to stare at your screen looking for bad guys, since it puts red names over them. I tried the simulator mode which locks you first person, have to deal with mixture and whatnot a few times. To me it's insanely hard if you don't have head tracking or something, plus the queue wait times are extremely long. Only to get in and ground loop on take off.
  16. Honestly I watched the video, was confused on the instructors actions... even more confused by the amount of arguing on this thread... the take away for me is always be diligent in your preflight. The accidents caused by complacency is unreal.... also practice engine out procedures.
  17. I can tell you that I use Active Sky Next and have had good experiences. I had to change some file permissions but that might of just been on my end, I made a post awhile back if you have issues. Overall I just put it on Live Weather and go with it. First time I used it I flew into Waco and crashed with a 25 knot crosswind gust.
  18. When I first started playing this game I used Mega Earth Scenery for the State I fly out of. I enjoyed that because since I fly around here it looks really familiar. Only thing that bothers me a bit is on take off and approaches having everything flat.
  19. I have a the Saitek Cessna yoke and pedals. If you're looking for immersion I would suggest getting the pedals as well. However as mentioned above the auto rudder can work as well and as long as your not doing acrobatics it will serve it's purpose. I also use an old Saitek joystick from 2006 for things like the cub, just plug it in when I need it and still use my pedals and throttle quadrant.
  20. I might pick it up in the next few weeks. I'm a huge fan of Pipers and I don't think P3D has any others you can buy... they do have these Mooneys though which is another favorite of mine.
  21. I've not tried any of the A2A products. Mainly because I don't want to do preflight stuff or fix a plane if I crash it. Can you turn that type of thing off?
  22. I have no brand loyalty between ATIs and Nvidia. Just happens that my last 2 or 3 cards have been Nvidia. When I get my Oculus Rift DK2 I'll go ahead and upgrade my card and check out the ATIs.
  23. I still haven't been able to find anything. I might just wait on an Oculus Rift to be my savior because right now it's a little goofy looking.
  24. I received my second monitor and hooked it up. Apparently you need 3 monitors for Nvidia Bezel correction. Does anyone know another way to get the same function?
  25. Per their website their 2nd level of product is FAA certified as a 'basic aviation training device' assuming you get the rudder pedals. A few of these cost $200k so I would hope a facility could train on it for that cost. Thanks for the reference, interesting to read about.
