  1. Track Clip Pro connects via USB port, but it also comes with a port of its own on a short extension cable - It basically is an USB extension cable with a somewhat thinner clip cable branching off from the plug, and you can connect anything that does not demand absolutely full power from the port to it, including TrackIR receiver itself. At least that's the one I had from about 2 years ago...Though I don't think things like that would change by much.
  2. Payware is generally more refined, with higher quality mesh, sound and texture, as well as some neat instruments. I haven't flown gliders in real world to tell anything definitive about FDE, but both Aerosoft's and Wolfgang Piper's felt about right. You may also wish to read this blog: http://blog.allen.asn.au/recommendations/wolfgang-pipers-gliders-for-fsx/ Discus K is the aerobatic version of Discus.
  3. CumulusX! does add thermals anywhere they should exist and does not have stratus layer anywhere near. That latter one is useful to know if you have any third-party weather engine running. Glider flying in FSX is sadly a bit of niche in niche.
  4. Maybe wrapping the clip cable around headphone cable would help. I knew this sounds messy, but they would likely get tangled up anyway otherwise. TrackClipPro with camera sensitivity tuned to just about the minimum had worked well for me for a couple years.
  5. TrackClipPro is not wireless but it does not occupy another USB slot. It's basically a short extension cable with power takeoff for the infrared LED. The clip cable's pretty long as well
  6. Yep, look into getting CumulusX!, which add proper ridge lift and thermals to FSX. There's a free version of that with limited functionality too.
  7. Aerosoft also had H36 Dimona(a motorglider), a DA20-100 Katana(a light GA derived from Dimona, which had a GPS that can be disabled), and a ASK21 MI motorglider. I knew it's not really gliders you're looking for, but just in case: There are plenty of freeware gliders and some with jet sustainers on Wolfgang Piper's site. Grab those with some gliding environment enhancer and...Flying is even more fun without the droning of the engines! Also, that DA-20 is pretty awesome with some A2A-deep modeling and is purely VFR by regulation.
  8. Why would you? FSX's performance is generally limited by the first CPU core you run it on, and if it's cooling problem we are talking about here, you might have better result looking into a better cooling setup - Either that, or underclock your CPU, though that would obviously damage your computer's performance.
  9. Does make the game look better than stock with REX4 and Shockwave lights...Doubt it could get much better unless they start bundling things like FTX Global base and addon aircrafts on at least Aerosoft's caliber.
  10. Thanks, guys! Definitely gonna look into 737 and L1011 hard.
  11. Thanks for the heads-up! Their 737 originals and Milviz's, which one is better? Also how's the L-1011? I read she flies beautifully in real life...
  12. Make sure the flight plan is actually exported to the correct folder, and PFPX and NGX are on the same cycle of navigation database.
  13. Also if there's one thing London Control taught me it's that AI controllers in neighboring sectors can sometimes make less sense than optimum. Try working Heathrow final director during some relatively busy hour and watch as INTN and INTS hand traffics in multi-ship formations off to you...Then again that one's mostly intended for enroute and it is good at that! Gotta watch if this one's any better. I hope it is.
  14. Wonder how this compares to things like London Control or ATCC...Though I guess this would be like comparing apples to oranges, those two being enroute-centric. A better comparison could probably be made against ATCsimulator. It looked better but..how does it work?
  15. Speaking of file caches, a large memory would help. What's not used by programs are used as disk read cache so things are basically accessing a fast RAM-disk on second access, as you might notice by restarting FSX.
  16. ASN supposedly had better overall weather rendition. And as far as personal experience goes, it is good - but I have nothing other than stock real weather(when it still worked) to compare it against.
  17. I wonder if FSCaptain is any good. EDIT: ...Indeed!
  18. If you have PFPX, you can use that to calculate TO performance since it had a handy interface that would autofill TOPCAT. However, PFPX's profile is also a bit off in terms of empty weight for NGX. As for performance calculation themselves, as long as TOW is correct the numbers should be correct as far as weight goes, for all I know.
  19. Actually bought FsPX out of respect for their earlier work on DGIII/IV for Orbiter...And it did work well before I got into complex addon aircrafts. All the workarounds and triple-replicating load figures between PFPX, PMDG/Majestic/Aerosoft CDU's and FsPX got tiring after a while.
  20. This thread might be relevant: http://www.fspassengers.com/forum/read.php?f=1&i=53197&t=53188 and this: http://www.fspassengers.com/forum/read.php?f=2&i=31791&t=31791 It's not elegant, but it is a workaround. Most passenger addons seemed to have problem with complex addon aircrafts that manage their own fuel and payload, like PMDG/A2A/Majestic/Aerosoft stuff. You also might want to eliminate all possible stutters on Q400. Maybe play around with that sync FDE to sim setting and see which works best for you. EDIT: Forum software breaking links

Well, the engines had to be powerful enough to do a one-engine-out takeoff and climbout after V1 at maximum weight limited by...mostly power of said engines.^^; Still sporty as heck! And I still gotta try V1-cut at MTOW someday.
  22. If you overdo it, you will see blurry textures and underdetailed terrain on ground as you fly. Used to have quite some effect on FSX boxed...And no improvement was observed with FSX:SE, at least on my much slower hardware. Also, try adding [JOBSCHEDULER] AffinityMask=116 to your fsx-se.cfg if you have hyperthreading on, or leave it out if you have it off. So far it worked well for me on a quad core with hyperthreading that cannot be turned off.
  23. If this is regular FSX, you can try FIBER_TIME_FRACTION tweak. Also do remove frame limit and test if that would not cause other issues, which could include stutters, momentary glitches and blurry ground texture when scenery addons with details beyond stock are involved. Framerate limiter in NI does not seem to impact performance, nor does it correct the resulting issues from running unlimited, as far as I can tell. EDIT: Oops...Missed the steam edition part. Better not try that tweak, then!
  24. ISFD allows fail operational autoland for it's another...inertial reference unit? And it saves weight and reduces parts count, though that's bean counter's concern. EDIT: Oops, thought you meant the 737! Guess I need to go check some docs now. EDIT2: Only difference seemed to be the source of attitude data. Secondary attitude and air data reference unit is the only source of attitude data for non-ISFD attitude indicator, while ISFD had internal inertial sensors. The parts count and weight reduction part still stands.
  25. Regular FSX profile also applies to FSX-SE, since executable name was not changed.
