  1. Hi guys, Just to let you know the 'Just Flight L-1011 Tristar Professional is on bank holiday offer at 14 Pounds. Think am going to have a dibble at that
  2. Thanks again for the input. I have posted the question in FsCaptain forums. Although I am sure their ACARS only displays weather info which it has gleamed from the current METAR's or whatever, that is generated by the weather engine your using, after it has been downloaded from the net. Meanwhile if anyone can shed any more light on this it would be great
  3. So any weather station which currently doesn't report in FSX due to not being updated over the years, will still not report even after installing ASN ? You know if you choose to fly with 'Real World Weather - updated every 15 mins' in FSX and the latest, live weather is taken from the local stations. It is the weather stations I am thinking of not particularly airports. Although some airports are weather stations I know.
  4. Hi Netshadoe, Yes am happy with the way FsCaptain reads the weather data - when it is present. My question was if ASN updates the weather stations in FSX, so that they are all in use again. Some of the FSX ones are in need of updating. Hope this makes sense
  5. Hi Hi, I fly FSX and to give me work and enhance the whole experience of flying I use FsCaptain. A lot of the time the FsCaptain program can't give me the latest weather from some 'Weather Stations' as they are 'Not Set in FS). I read somewhere that Microsoft no longer deals with Jeppen and maybe this is why. So, as the title suggests - If I purchase and install Active Sky Next, will all the weather stations in FSX get updated and become active again ? I do fly 'Bush' quite a lot. So I am flying near to the smaller weather reporting stations. Thanks in advance for any information on this. I have tried to search for an answer with no luck. Cheers Terry
  6. Hi guys, I have recently rebuild my P.C. Changed from AMD / Radeon set up to Intel i7 4790k and Nvidia Geforce GTX 970. FSX working great. Plus my ORBX regions etc. Vox atc is giving me grief though. I can reinstall it, configure the mic, run the indexer etc. When I try to use VOX in FSX it will not initialise. infact It pauses the sim. When i unpause the sim it just says initialising and gets no further. I ensured I have a flight plan. Infact I have tried to use a VOX demo one - no joy. Same as above. Now one thing I have noticed, If I run the voice configuration there are some voices listed in the left side box, which I tried out a while ago and deleted. Try to play one of them and fatal error. I even removed any mention of them in the registry, yet when I re-install VOXatc they pop up in the left side box (Well when I run voice configuration) I can't even remember where these other voices were from. I know they were deleted at some point. Is there a utility which ensures all mention of these 'clear voices' hidden DLL's and such are removed when you remove VOXatc ? Anyone help ? Thank you. Terry
  7. Thank you for the suggestions Gregg and Glynn. I am going to order the ones Glynn suggested simply because they cover rather than sit on the ears. I really appreciate you both taking time to give me feedback. Terry
  8. Hi guys, Without breaking the bank, what is a good over the ear headset with mic for VOXatc ? I seem to be having to say things over and over sometimes. Am sure it is my crappy Microsoft headset. Any recommendations for a £50 £75 or thereabouts headset that has a good mic. So I don't have to keep repeating myself. I do have a Sennheiser HD429s which I purchased today. It has a jack plug as opposed to USB and they seem to target tablets / phones these days. Before I open this mic (I may take it back) I thought I would ask for your experiences or recommendations. Cheers
  9. Thanks GBoz, I shall try that. I copied what you said into notepad and will try it when I rebuild my AMD / Radeon system. Am just replacing my Motherboard, GPU, and putting in an i7 processor. So on my FSX computer I am going Intel, Nvidia. I will be rebuilding the AMD stuff into a new system in a few weeks. So I shall try it out then. Thanks so much for the advice. Terry
  10. Luckily I can splash the cash a bit. Tell you, since I quit smoking 2 years ago and I don't drink anymore, I save money easily now lol. I will let you know how it turns out Thank you. Terry.
  11. Hi again Steve, Sorry for the late reply. It has been one of those days. I am changing my rig about. Starting working on it tomorrow and changing the Motherboard to a "ASRock Fatal1ty z87 professional Gamer Board" CPU from AMD - A10 to a "Intel Core i7-4790K CPU (Quad Core 4GHz, Socket H3 LGA-1150)" And Graphic Card (GPU) to a "Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970 – SOC G1 Gaming" I will build another rig soon with the AMD stuff I am taking out. I shall now have to read how to do the fixing for this setup. But from what have read the extra performance with Intel and Nvidia are worth it. Thanks. Terry
  12. Hi Again Gboz, When you said "I find it essential to have SS on for FSX" what is SS ? Did you mean Supersampling again ? Do you not have a Radeon or CCC profile setup at all then for FSX ? Thanks Terry
  13. Hi Steve, I have made the water 2.low now (Was only one notch higher). The AA was set at 4xEQ, but now set to 4x. I have downloaded '12-8_vista_win7_win8_32_dd_ccc' which is 101mb executable file. I am just uncertain as to if that will replace all my video drivers or just the Catalyst Control Center application part. Do you know at all ? I really do not mind going back to an old driver. FSX is really the only thing I use the comp for. I read that buffer_pools shouldn't be used if you have a top end GPU, so I left them disabled. Going to test the couple of changes to water and the 4x AA instead of 4EQ. Then see where I need to go next. Thanks. Terry Update. I have been flying about for approx 1hr and all good so far. (Fingers Crossed) If I have to go back to before DX10 then so be it. I may just build another good rig and use Intel this time .... Oh and a Nvidia Graphic Card lol. Cheers
  14. More testing and I am getting the above problems again. Can be flying just fine for 2 mins, 5 mins, 20 mins, and then the graphics start flashin, currupting, triangulating. Tried to include a screenie but not sure if it worked. I don't have a FSX profile at all in CCC - nothing (Factory defaults) Created a profile as per the DX10 howto. doc in Radeon Pro. Any ideas anyone ? I am certain it will be something fairly simple. Thank you. Terry
  15. Well after a good amount of testing I have not had any graphical problems. The only thing I have done is make a profile as per the DX10.How To.doc and returned settings to default in CCC. Removed my FSX profile from in there too. Thanks for the help Steve. Much appreciated.
  16. Isn't this the 14.501.1003.0 version video drivers ? AMD Catalyst Packages Name File Size Revision Number Release Date Download Link Catalyst Software Suite 288 MB Omega (14.12) 12/9/2014
  17. Thank you for that Steve. I will shoot over there and have a read. I was in the process of setting up a profile I Radeon Pro having deleted my FSX profile in CCC and restored defaults. Will be interesting to see if that does the trick. I hate these video drivers. If you don't remove the old ones correctly your in a world of pain. This is why I hope I can just do without using CCC for FSX as all other games etc are great. Cheers.
  18. Hi gang, I was reading the DX10 How To.doc and in there it suggests 'Download CCC - this version only - v12.8 - 12.11'. My current version is 2014. 1120.2123.38423. Can I install this version of CCC on its own or does it involve me having to install the whole graphic card driver suite ? Is it possible to make this work at all by removing the CCC FSX profile - and making one in RadeonPro instead ? I am now getting wierd graphical corruption, glitches, flashes, spikes etc - and I have changed nothing. All I was doing is testing how things perform at various airports etc. Having read some of the DX10.How.To. and thinking back to something Steve mentioned am sure it is my CCC causing this. This happens anywhere now in FSX, any area / region I mean. I appreciate I could spend hours trying to find out for myself, but I hoped it would be ok to ask first. Thank you in anticipation. Terry
  19. Strange isn't it how you didn't take the time to reply when I ask for help. But now you see a chance to take a cheap shot you jump in there. If you have nothing positive to add - simply don't butt in. I had every right to ask why my last questions were simply not being answered, commented on, or at least acknowledged. You need to mind your own business. Unless you have something to bring to the table.
  20. Hi Bert, To be honest with everything just about maxxed out it is almost perfect. It was just the fog that really slowed it down.
  21. Interestingly I copied, named, and deleted my .cfg file. This time the values were written ProcSpeed=5788 PerfBucket=7 Which is slightly higher on the proc speed. Perf bucket being the same. Yeah I know. It is all down to the way FSX was coded and the architecture of AMD's CPU isn't it ? The next time I build a good rig I may well go for NVidia. Although from what I read on these forums they seem to have as many problems themselves.
  22. That is a good idea. I shall take a look at that. Thinking about it I am sure I made some tweak or other in the .cfg which enables the 4 cores in the CPU. Am going to let it create another though and see. Have read the manual Dave. Am going to read the 2nd one you suggested, which as you probably know Steve suggested earlier, later on tonight. No thanks. I will stick with my R9 200 series card. The processor and that card compliment each other.
  23. Well I can't really see anything that indicated what that proc speed should show in the FSX.cfg. (If indeed it is incorrect) I think it is a value which FSX writes to the config the first time FSX is run. I have never touched that value but have tweaked the other settings in the FSX.cfg obviously. If anyone is using a AMD A10-6800k APU with Radeon HD Graphics. 4.10GHz. could you note what the proc speed is set at in your FSX.cfg and post it in this thread for me please. Cheers. Why would I check my spam folder when Steve and everyone else replies on here ? Which makes perfect sense as then others can read and perhaps relate to the issue at some point.
  24. Thank you for that Steve I shall do some testing. Hi Jim, Thanks for that - honestly I had never even noticed it. It is an AMD A10-6800k APU with Radeon HD Graphics. 4.10GHz. (This is what Windows 7 reports it as) The A10-6800K is a 4.1GHz part with a 4.4GHz Turbo Mode and a GPU clocked at 844MHz according to the bumf. They are quad core I am certain. I am not really sure what value should be in FSX.cfg but I shall have a sniff about the internet and see what I can find.
