Not to mention the fact that the answer is yes. I've noticed some changes. For example not having to switch from ground to tower to request a takeoff clearance. After ground gives you the go ahead to switch to tower, requesting takeoff from the tower is one of the choices. And that's a change I've noticed in 20 minutes' total of flying in v5. I'm sure there's more.

Anyone? Would appreciate any insight. I'm going to try disabling hyperthreading per another thread.

My 8700k froze in flight, and core0 was pegged at 100, with the others barely doing anything. Ill have to try turning off hyperthreading. Thank you from those of us who are not technically inclined nor snarky.

Vanilla install, no addons. It's weird because the in-game overlay said 3.7 GB out of 6.7 VRAM (GTX1080), framerates were superb (70's), I was cruising along and then it just stopped. "Not responding" is what task manager told me. My Core0 was pegged. Sliders pegged right (almost all of them, save for things like draw distance), but I would think if that was the problem I wouldn't have had framerates in the 70's. Any thoughts?

In 4.5 I have Sky Force and Environment Force, both on full auto, set it and forget it. It Is amazing. I'll be doing he same with 5.0.

Wait, from the first post it seems you got Sky Force working in v5? How? Please give us a tutorial!

Sky Force and Environment Force were absolute gamechangers in v4.5. I cannot wait until they're ready for v5!

I don't even know what simconnect is. 🙂 I'm running v5 in parallel with v4.5. I just downloaded v5, installed it, and voilard. TrackIR worked just as it did in v4.5.

90% of the complaints I've seen overall about v5 have been related to VR. Never used it. Hope you guys get a solution.

I ran it with my exact 4.5 settings out of the box. First flight: smooth as butter, double the 4.5 framerates. Enabled beta atmosphere for flight number 2: CTD.

Worked right "out if the box," so to speak. No issues.

Mine was smooth as butter. All stock. That was actually the biggest impression I got, was how smooth it was. I have TrackIR, and it was amazing.

Just flew my first flight, where I usually fly and with the exact same settings I have in v4.5. I was seeing 50-90 FPS. This was in the Caribbean, flying the 114 out of SXM. Stock scenery. In 4.5 with my addons I would normally see 30-50. Sim seems very, very smooth. The visuals were not great, but again, I am seeing double the framerate basically, so I can turn the settings up quite a bit yet. Most are "very" and not "ultra", and I didn't turn on anything that I don't have available in v4.5 (so no beta stuff). I'm not worried about the visuals at all. They are easy to improve. Great reflections off the water, clouds looked decent. It was too bright and the ground textures too green. Basically it just looked very bright. Again, not worried about that. As a foundation, this is a fantastic product. Lots of room for me to start improving things and getting it how I like it. But performance-wise, apples-to-apples, it's a win. 100%. Rig: 8700k and 1080, both stock, no OC.

Is it me or is everyone who is “beaching” on this thread using VR? In which case it will make absolutely no difference to me because I don’t use VR.

It’s a new purchase, $60. Why did you go through the trouble of doing that just to install?

It's the chief reason I couldn't give a poo less about MSFS until it is on the market. I won't care the day before or the morning of. When it is out and is what it is purported to be, then I'll get excited. Until then, I couldn't care less. It's a unicorn.
