  1. I've found myself some what infactuated with the Pilatus PC-9/A. Had the plane in FSX-SE but never really flew it much, then again FSX never had the performance of P3D x64 However since purchasing the PC-21 I thought I'd get its older sibling up and running in P3D v4.5 HF3. Unfortunately 3 of the dlls are x86, the first being the sound, that was a Doug Dawson standard and easily fixed, of the other two one is a fuel dump (a modified Doug Dawson) so no drop in replacement there and the third is a custom Axis control for the throttles. However apart from those last two items it all works pretty great and is a blast to fly, both fast and manoverable and has an avionics and gauge set that doesn't require spending ages learning, I should have spent more time in it on FSX-SE. On the Ground in Australia. My GTN 750 installed as a popup, the GPS is doing the flying. Northern Australia on the East Coast side. The Roulettes aerobatic livery, 2014 celebrating 100 years of the RAAF Central Flying School in East Sale Victoria Change of Scenery and livery, this time the location is the USA Las Vegas USA Over top of Las Vegas And now on the West Coast side. 2. The dreaded software "Glitch" 🙃 Cheers
  3. Object flow is needed for things like the thread below covers. https://orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/194264-impossible-scenery-malfunction/ Cheers
  4. I have P3D and Flight Sim related apps farmed out onto multiple drives. And have built a RoboCopy script to pull all the various bits and pieces and config etc. onto an ejectable backup drive, the script even emails me the backup log file. It's amazing all the bits you don't think about that would typcially be wiped if the OS was re-installed. e.g. many aircraft place state and config files in the "My Documents" location, for example A2A create quite large numbers of folders (one for every plane installed) for their Accu-Feel product, and other developers do similar. And I'd hate to loose all the config changes I've performed, things like shader tweaks, changes to stars.dat and many other files. At least with the scripted backup I can re-install the OS, re-install P3D, then all going well use my backup to restore P3D functionality back to the way it was. Cheers

    P3D V5?

Hey thanks for the reply and great to hear PrecipitFX will likely have a successor 🙂 I particuarly liked the wheel based effects, touchdown, braking etc. The engine washes were also pretty good too. And the rain/snow (which I tweaked a bit). Perhaps if there was anything I wasn't that keen on it would only be the wingtip vortices, I thought the circular look of them was a bit on the naffy side. Otherwise the immerson factor was a great improvement overall. One of those addins you take for granted until you don't have it. Cheers
  6. My advice: Download it, read the manual and you'll see. Cheers

    P3D V5?

Pitty really... I considered it a "must have" in my sims. Much like A2A have their specific accu-sim aircraft, 42 has immersions for specific aircraft. And A2A has Accu-Feel for everything else, as 42 had PrecipitFX for everything else. PrecipitFX and Accu-Feel are two addons you kind of don't know they are doing anything until you don't have them. That's when you abruptly notice they are not there. rip...
  8. And there is this nice new freebee in the AVSIM file library. The manual also has a number of reading references and links the author himself found useful in building the gauge. https://www.avsim.com/forums/topic/575787-gps2020-gauge-in-the-avsim-files-library/ Cheers
  9. Hi Folks, I was paroosing the AVSIM library looking at the various repaints for the Flight Replicas Super Cub when I came across a new GPS gauge just uploaded by a Hugo Jansen of Belgium. The blurb looked good so I downloaded it and installed into the Super Cub as a popup. It's a quite interesting package with a nice PDF manual describing how to add to a panel.cfg and what those panel.cfg entries mean. I installed into P3D v4.5, however going by the manual the gauge is xml so should be fine in FSX upwards, indeed there are many FSX references within the manual. It is a quite nice improvement with mouse dragging of the map, mouse wheel spinning of the dials, mouse zoom and many other features. I'll just add a reference to the Position= values as I wanted it in a different postion on the screen when it opened. POSITION //----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Specifies the relative position of a panel window to the main window. A number from 0 to 8 (as shown below) designates the position of the panel window. If nothing is specified, 7 is the default, otherwise, one of: 0 = upper-left corner 1 = upper-middle side 2 = upper-right corner 3 = middle-left side 4 = middle 5 = middle-right side 6 = lower-left corner 7 = lower-middle side 8 = lower-right corner. //---------------------------------------------------------------------------- And a pic of it showing in the Super Cub.
  10. I tested a selection of screen recording applications (including those above - apart from the Radeon option) and settled on Action! as being the most reliable, easiest to use and with the features I was after. Yes it is a paid application but imho is well worth paying for and you can trial before purchasing. Check out my vids link in my sig where everything since the 4th of March 2019 has been recorded with Action! https://mirillis.com/en/products/action.html Cheers
  11. Like the the PC-21 in French colours of SP2472, here's a few in an aussie livery - VH-DLB Of course the real VH-DLB is a somewhat slower ride.. Reference: Link I actually bought my PC-21 some time ago, well... as soon as I found it was available to buy @ Iris. This newer Driver 21 v5 release is a better perfoming (simwise) aircraft than the previous PC-21 release and I also added my GTN 750 as a popup replacement for the default 530 (that otherwise looks just terrible compared to the rest of the plane). Also, does anyone know of a better radio stack that can be used as a popup instead the low res P3D defaults? Cheers
  12. Vsync gives the better result - imho. Running Windows 10? Game mode off? These links helpful? https://devblogs.microsoft.com/directx/demystifying-full-screen-optimizations/ https://winaero.com/blog/disable-fullscreen-optimizations-windows-10/ Cheers
  13. Do you know what happened to the said author of the product? All seemed to be going just fine, then nothing at all. Not a hint of support or even an aknowledgement - just nothing. The author (Sean I believe) hasn't passed on or assended to the next life per chance?
  14. 30 Hz... as in a 30 Hz vsync 😉 which will lock frame rates at the hertz rate meaning I get 30 FPS locked. Given I run unlimited FPS in the sim (for the best frame rate output) the blurries would tend to be somewhat common as per my test example @ Big Bear. This is because with P3D set to unlimited any FTFF value in the prepar3d.cfg is ignored in favour of a hardcoded FTFF value that is really low (such as 0.01), meaning more of the available time slice spent on FPS instead of rendering scenery. When P3D is set to a FPS value the FTFF is read form the prepar3d.cfg or if no value a default of 0.33 is typcially used. FTFF Dynamic gets around the limited time slice for scenery rendering when running P3D as unlimited FPS and also the single value used with P3D is set to locked frame rate as it is able to "Dynamically" manage the FTFF value based on what you've configured. Thus I have control and no longer suffer form the blurries when running P3D as unlimited. Eons ago I used to set and test values for FTFF in FSX and initialy thought the option was a load of croc because changing the value didn't do anything, it was only after I found out FTFF values are ignored when the sim is set to unlimimted FPS that I realised why. Cheers
  15. Well, it does show and fly just fine in v4.5 and my post describes how I managed to get it working via the add-on.xml method. Otherwise from the folder structures it has it should install direclty into the sim provided you choose the correct root level path. Or you could install it to a temp path then manually copy over the folders into the matching paths of the sim. It has only Effects, Gauges and SimObjects. Cheers
  16. Yes ?? and it is running just fine in my P3D v 4.5 HF3.
  17. More info required... e.g. P3D vesion, how was it installed.
  18. No mate, I meant exactly what I wrote, my sim is locked @ 30 FPS via 30 Hz vsync while running at unlimited inside of P3D. Check my vids link in sig for example videos running @ 30 Hz vsync with FFTF Dynamic. This link might also help explain vsyncing - https://www.avsim.com/forums/topic/573473-p3dv5-settings-for-frame-rate-etc/ In my config I have a test airport (Big Bear - NY USA) where at a certain spot I would have blurry ground textures, compared to with FFTF Dynamic running I get no blurries at that spot. As far as I'm concerned it works as advertised and I assume FFTF Dynamic is able to inject its magic at a low level bypassing whatever code P3D are utilising. From the web page itself. https://www.fspsstore.com/fsps-products/fsps-fftf-dynamic-p3dv5.html We present to you the Dynamic FFTF program. An application which covers every aspect of user configuration : 1.) Unlimited frames + VSync enabled + TB enabled 2.) Unlimited frames + VSync enabled + TB enabled + external limiter 3.) Unlimited frames + VSync disabled + TB disabled 4.) Locked frames ( VSync + TB settings are ignored ) Even muddier ??? Cheers :-)
  19. I've had neither issue. The engine is very audible in the cockpit and is much more audible when the window is open. I do run A2A's Accu-Feel which I suppose will have an effect. The rudder pedals move and the rudder throw looks fine, both are compariable to what the A2A cub has. Otherwise I'd check/confirm P3D controller dead spots and engine sound levels. Cheers
  20. FFTF DYNAMIC is more about managing the time slice the sim spends rendering scenery textures. The idea being if the frame rate of the sim is aready good the sim can spend more time rendering scenery (thus helping to prevent the blurries). Alternatively if the frame rate is lower less time can be spent rendering scenery and more time allocated to the frame rate (like if coming in to land at a busy airport). Managing such time slicing is best when dynamically performed and FFTF DYNAMIC allows managment to be based on either a frame rate range or a range of height above ground. Locking the sim frame rate is more about not overloading the capabilities of the hardware. For example I lock my frame rate @ 30 FPS via a vsync, this means the sim only has to work half as hard as it otherwise would @ 60 FPS (or unlimitted where the sim would be flat out max all the time). Thus there are more resources free for the sim to allocate to other tasks such as scenery loading, eye candy, AI etc. Clear as mud ?? Cheers
  21. Hey Folks, Jusrt a few pics showing Flight Replica's Super Cub and the A2A PBR Cub, as well as the evolution of Avatar design. Cheers
  22. When is software ever finished ?? Never would be my take on it... Given P3D started as (quantily of earlier versions) -> FS2004 -> FSX -> ESP -> P3D v1 -> v2 -> v3 -> v4 -> v5 -> ??? Cheers
  23. No Issues for me (4.5 HF3). I pre-created the folder in my custom external Add-ins path and installed into it. e.g. H:\Addons_P3D\01.Aircraft\Flight-Replicas\SuperCub Added my own bit of add-on.xml for the super cub itself to the above path. Added H:\Addons_P3D\01.Aircraft\Flight-Replicas as a discovery path to the C:\ProgramData\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4\add-ons.cfg And start your engines :-) nice plane and I was actually thinking a Super Cub would be nice having just gotten the A2A PBR Cub. And the A2A cub for reference
  24. Thanks! more planes to do as well given all the freebees ! Cheers 🙂
