  1. Turbulent flight through the Alps with icy conditions and beautiful scenery.
  2. Here’s another recently released awesome video which showcases some beautiful aspects of GA flying which can’t necessarily be achieved through airliner routes. Icing, Turbulence through Alps, beautiful Innsbruck scenery. This video really gives you a sense of nervousness arising from flying through risky icy conditions in mountainous terrain.
  3. From what I’ve read so far. The release date is only changing by a couple of hours. Another point I’ve noticed is that not everyone has received this message. I suspect it’s to stagger the release among different regions so they’re servers have time to scale up and don’t immediately get hammered all within the same minute. It also explains why the release is delayed by only a few hours, to stagger the download requests on their CDN servers.
  4. I actually meant real world. Can’t speak for the sim as I’m not in the beta, but I’d imagine it would be roughly the same.
  5. The NDA won’t allow for an accurate answer I’m afraid. Your best bet would be to get the sim for just $1 on GamePass which can allow you to check out the Standard version for a month. If you like what you see, you can then decide if you’d like to commit to MSFS or not.
  6. The glory of the new sim is that it’ll allow for GA flights in any part of the world which was previously unimaginable for the sane, or required extensive effort in terms of addons/tweaking. MSFS will make GA fun again. I know it’ll be at least for me because it’s good to have some short hops or Bush flights just to mix things up a bit. Here’s an excellent video demonstrating just that.
  7. Yes. You’ll be thrown around like a ping pong ball. Yes. Ice effectively changes the shape of wings in ways which reduce aerodynamic flow over wings and control surfaces, which can lead to reduced maneuverability or even stall.
  8. I wholeheartedly agree with you. The entire world is in admiration of what Microsoft and Asobo have achieved here. We’re starting to get the attention of serious FPS crowds and other peeps who previously would never bat an eye at such titles, just to show a scale of the interest and buzz MSFS has generated. We need to cut the developers some slack, appreciate what they’ve done for the hobby and offer constructive criticism to allow the sim to slowly grow to its maximum potential. Offering armchair criticism doesn’t help anybody and only sours the community and development plans.
  9. Active pause is for kids. Establish dominance in the frequency by letting Approach know you’ll be proceeding direct To waypoint KLITT and doing a holding pattern to dump fuel.
  10. The devs previously released some Alpha stats in a development update which mentioned that 97% of users were able to completely finish their long-haul flights without any issues.
  11. I’d like to know more about your experience and flight hours in a commercial aircraft before your concerns about the flight model being unrealistic. Just because it’s different than what you’re used to, doesn’t mean it’s unrealistic. It could be the most realistic flight model ever made and you could have no clue about it. https://imgur.com/L6Lwivr
  12. The strobes in the 787 are wrong. They have a signature strobe which are more Uniform and of longer duration. These look like the standard short flicker type strobes. Nooooooooooo!
  13. The list of videos keeps on growing and it’s already covered extensively in this topic.
  14. This video has a real world pilot highlighting some of the issues with the 748 autopilot.
  15. It seems like they’ve lifted the NDA for content creators. Here’s a full flight video from San Francisco to Las Vegas.
  16. Ahh, the armchair Captain Sully’s who dismiss any newcomers just because they’re ‘GAMERZ’ or whatever.
  17. Have you tried getting your hands on the SDK? Microsoft has already released the (not final) SDK to developers who’ve contacted them and requested for the same. Might be a good idea to get your hands on it in advance so you have a better understanding of what development plans to undertake ahead of release.
  18. This looks so true to life, If it weren't for the watermarks it could easily be claimed as a real life picture and your average Joe wouldn't bat an eye.
  19. It isn’t from their official Facebook page. So unless any developer has announced their plans for a D8, I’d take it with a grain of salt.
  20. I experienced the same as well. We were having a conversation at work about aliens during our lunch break and when we got back to our desks shortly after, some of us got ads regarding alien toys on our social media feeds. It's also why I have a hard time trusting Android's privacy policies because what's not to say that the whole point of android was a clever way of getting a more closer and detailed look into peoples lives and harvest data for Google's advertising-based business model. I digress. On a related note, I'm not sure how a persons flights in a sim could provide reliable data to Microsoft for any advertising, but if that's one of the core reasons for reviving the franchise, it would be ingenious.
  21. Would this mean I would get a "Accept Cookies" prompt at the beginning of every flight?
  22. I wonder what they’d advertise to me after they saw me flying to Lukla in the 748.
  23. The leaks seem to have permanently changed the community’s opinion, and I feel it’s for the better. Before the leaks started to spring up, we were all collectively hyped about the new sim and had really high expectations. But after multiple leaked videos of the sim in it's Alpha state, the community’s opinion seems to have permanently changed. Everyone has now tempered their expectations for the base sim and are more understanding of the long-term development plans set out by Asobo/Microsoft and are more appreciative of the same. The general community finally understands that no project of this massive scale can be released without any imperfections. We also have a much better view of how and where third-party developers fit in and contribute to the betterment of this sim. In my opinion this is a good thing both for us and also for Asobo/Microsoft. The amount of any uproar that could arise from people who had unrealistic expectations could be potentially have been curbed as well. I don’t know if this was the kind of tone Microsoft wanted to set had there been no leaks, but I feel like they could have communicated the sim’s shortcomings a bit more clearly and openly instead of presenting us with cherry-picked screenshots week after week. A full-flight video as per popular community request could have achieved this. If anything, it reassures is that they definitely have a solid long-term development plan.
