  1. I’d recommend to install the just announced patch and then try again.
  2. I did it because OP didn’t initially include the patch notes and only included a link to the original thread. Now it seems OP has included the patch notes in the original post, so I’ll remove mine as it’s a duplicate. Also, the large font was an unintended formatting issue. No need to feel threatened by it.
  3. Maybe i'm not wording my phrases correctly. What I'm trying to say is that since REX is not bringing any new weather system to the sim, but just a different backend system to correctly implement the already present weather system, this by itself doesn't warrant an addon as expensive as theirs, which of course is subjective. Their main unique selling point at the moment is only accurately implemented weather, not new clouds, not new weather effects, nothing. This USP may not be unique in the long term if Asobo fixes the real time weather problem. So I fail to see what else they bring to the table that Asobo possiibly can't.
  4. You don't know the meaning of stopgap do you? REX is aware that MSFS weather system has bugs, they're using a different system (METAR) to fix it. Sounds good so far. The issue is that they're using the exact weather system of MSFS. Everything looks and feels the same, just making it run using a different system, which by itself doesn't warrant an addon worth paying for, in my honest opinion. Also, the whole point of releasing the addon is to provide a temporary solution until Asobo fixes the weather system internally (which is only a matter of when, not if), which is why I feel like REX is taking the opportunity to sell a solution to a problem which might not even exist in the future.
  5. You have the chosen the right username 😄
  6. They're not using a METAR system, but rather a global grid system.
  7. Well that's not very convincing. It just seems like they're taking the opportunity of MSFS's bugs to just provide a stopgap solution to a problem that can be very easily fixed by Asobo, which perhaps they may have done already in an internal build due to be released in the next patch.
  8. Copying my comment from the forum. --- I don't know. The clouds look extremely similar to the ones we have in MSFS. The only differences I see are 1. More accurate representation of real world weather (which Asobo can fix themselves) 2. Smoother transition of different weather phenomena (which I think Asobo can themselves do, but I'm not sure if they would) 3. Their source is NOAA weather (Idk if their data sources are more accurate than Meteoblu's, I'd wager it isn't) 4. A more Comprehensive UI We'll have to watch this closely. We shouldn't accept an addon that offers default MSFS clouds in a more prettier packaging
  9. They didn’t give any timeframe so it’s uncertain for now.
  10. There working on a new SDK feature called node based particle effects, which allows for development of anything that uses particles, like contrails, engine condensation, smoke etc. Edit: forgot to mention, it’s not included in this patch, but was mentioned to be released in a future update.
  11. It may not necessarily be power lines, but so many key features which make a fight sim, a flight sim, is simply pushed aside as ‘something they’d like to work on/ will come in a future update’. MS has some serious convincing to do if they want to prove that they’re here for the simmers first.

  13. This, and the lack of aircraft awareness flashing lights on high rises is some of the small, imperfect things I’ve noticed.
  14. So you’re saying you believe an entire race deserves unequal treatment just because on of your friends got injured by some rabid protester?
  15. Important to note that I’m not the original developer of this app. I don’t know him personally but I’m merely sharing his app on this forum since I know many of you folks love TrackIR. I shall convey your thanks to him haha.
  16. Valid point. I believe the reply sent by Google to that user was worded very vaguely for this specific purpose.
  17. The developer actually mentioned in the Reddit thread that his app works on any device which has iOS13.
  18. Yep! Here's the link: https://apps.apple.com/de/app/smoothtrack/id1528839485?l=en I believe the author made it a paid app of $9.99
  19. Here's what I found on Reddit. --- Hey all. So my plan originally was to use Google Maps to fill in landmarks but I have spent some time clarifying with Google if they would allow us to do this and they straight up told me no we can’t do this. No, you may not use output from Google Earth, Google Earth Pro and Earth Studio to reconstruct 3D models or create similar content, or to create other content, product(s) or service(s) that may violate our Terms of Service. Which has kinda put a massive hamper on our project, I mean we could still just do it but the chances are Google would seek action to remove the content and it’s kinda pointless to fight them. So unless anyone has any other ideas I think this won’t work out for us 😞 Link
  20. The embedded link previews a demo video as well as all the details of the app. Perhaps it's not visible on your end. Nevertheless, I've copy pasted it below. --- Thanks to your encouragement & feedback, I've turned the silky smooth 6 DOF head-tracking app I wrote for myself into a full-fledged app for both stores - since today, it's now available for Android as well: the Android version of SmoothTrack is now in public beta! Hey y'all, so here we are a few weeks after I posted a video of myself playing around with my little app that connects to OpenTrack to give you silky smooth fully 3d head tracking for any game that supports TrackIR - FS2020, Elite, IL2, DCS, ETS2, ATS, and many more. Thanks to all your encouragement and excitement, I've now turned it into both an iOS app and an Android app. You can join the public beta for Android here: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.epaga.smoothtrack (during beta it will be at a reduced price of roughly 5€ depending on where you're at) The only requirement for the android app is Google AR Services, which means it supports the devices on this list: https://developers.google.com/ar/discover/supported-devices The main thread with all further info is here => https://www.reddit.com/r/flightsim/comments/iga0ak/thanks_to_all_your_excitement_last_week_i_went/ Edit: A few of you asked, so here's the iOS App Store link: https://apps.apple.com/de/app/smoothtrack/id1528839485?l=en FAQ: "How do you see anything when you move your head? I don't get it." Answer: Your head movements are exaggerated so you keep your eyes on the screen but only need to slightly move your head - it's way more intuitive than it might sound at first.
  21. That was an absolutely brilliant and eye-opening answer. I too saw many people complaining about the SDK, and maybe some areas do warrant it, but I didn’t know that the modern languages used and adopted by Asobo means that anyone with decent programming skills can work on an aircraft. It really makes the other addon developers look lazy for not embracing the new and sticking to their legacy codebases and refusing the modern possibilities of optimization. Development on the scenery front is almost a similar. Asobo have implemented the scenery SDK and made it so simple such that your everyday Joe is now making their own houses and city landmarks in Blender and distributing them for free to everyone. This explains the massive influx of scenery addons for various cities and POI’s around the world floating around discord and the forums.
  22. Important to note that these cards specialize in Ray Tracing and DX12, both of which are not implemented in MSFS. So other than some small fps gains, the 3000 series will not provide big boost in performance in MSFS, yet. I really hope Asobo implements DX12 and Ray Tracing before VR comes out. Because if the hardware exists to enable 60 fps in VR, no point if the game engine can’t capitalize on all that power because they’re using dinosaur era code.
  23. I hope the developers get to working on full speed once they get back from their vacations. This sim has massive potential, and I'm rooting for the developers to make it happen. Awesome videos like these are a true testament to what the sim is capable of, even in it's current bug-ridden state. Getting to this point was a massive achievement for them for sure, but the true development of the sim is yet to come.
