Recommendation request :-) What jetliner should I...
Thanks mucho US, quite some reading required indeed ! It's the third time i'll have to buy the PMDG 737 but i enjoyed the first two so much. Haven't seen it in FS2020 nore 2024 yet so i probabely just forgat how good the VC looks. Just saw another video sporting the -700 and it's truly jawdropping, inside as well as outside, isn't it. Ok, i'll keep the L-1011 for later then. Thanks again ! 😎

Recommendation request :-) What jetliner should I...
I'd like to ask a question if i may : do i see quite a big difference between the cockpits of the PMDG 737-700 and the Inibuilds L-1011 as far as texturing/materials are concerned ? I just saw videos of both these new additions particularly designed for MSFS 2024 and i can't help getting the feeling that PMDG might have used the full monty of the 2024 SDK while Inibuilds might not have.... At first glance i'd say the 737-700 cockpit looks astonishing beautiful (i did fly the wings off of the PMDG MAX in FSX) while the L-1011 looks absolutely wonderful too but misses the superb sophistication of the textures/materials i see in the 737 cockpit. Big fan of the Tristar, fantastic to see it has landed in FS2024 but i can't already forget how exceptionally good the 737-700 VC looks. So how about it, FS2024 PMDG 737-700 pilots, am i on course as far as the (more or less) full use of the 2024 SDK has been applied for this "Best Looking VC Ever !" ??..... (only based on watching a video of it ) Thanks a lot for your answer ! ( for the time being it's either the 737 or L-1011, not both..;-)

FlightControlSpotter is AVAILABLE on XBOX /PC on marketplace
A real world Spotter's main job is to stand along a runway whereever possible to watch aircraft land and take-off. i.e. "Fly-By"... That possible with this program ??... (No "Fly-By" option mentioned in the description..) Thanks!

Microprose B17 is coming to fs2020 and 2024!
Yep, it's the B-17 model itself ! Nasty one ! "Early Access" ??.... The proper phrase should be "Half Baked Access" ! (this dev didn't even bother to make the wheels turn. Here we go, skidding down the runway !....{ haven't actually seen that since.....FS4 (1989))

FSX Promo Image vs MSFS 2024, look how far we have come!
Sure i remember that lovely picture. It perfectly represented the fact that flightsimmers never stop dreaming. Even now with FS2024, right ?.. F.i. sofar i have yet to see a Jacob's ladder in 2024 as so eloquently represented in this pittoresque picture. Back then the whole setup *did* make me think of Bob Ross quite a bit.. The cool clear water is also something for us to keep dreaming about, isn't it. We *do* have to be thankfull for the fantastic new float plane water spray effects we have been dreaming about for so many years (atleast i know i did..) In any case, thanks for this wonderful reminder, AT, i can't really believe it's already 20 years ago ! How time flies, even virtually ! 🙂

Yes, and i reckon a comparison between your comment and a bunch of sour grapes will taste strikingly similar.

Multi million dollar 737 cockpit sim uses MSFS
You can ! It just so happens that i *DO* have one in my garage.... Of course not as complete as the cockpit here discussed but it's still a complete Boeing 737-800 home-cockpit consisting of Open Cockpits, FlyEngravity and CP Flight modules (probabely the same as in the subject here). It also works with Prosim 737 software on two computers. It's in my garage (dismantled) because i moved last year. Have no room for it anymore, anyone who might be interested is welcome to pick it up (i'm in the Netherlands). We can discuss the price which will be only a fraction of what it is really worth (it's about 10 years old but looks and works as new).

Chaseplane
What's keeping the accolades, cheers and ovations that are supposed to come with an add-on that is obviously heading for the number one slot in "The Best of MSFS2020/24 Add-Ons 2025 " (well, IMHO anyway and no matter what's still in the pipeline). Let me give it a shot if i may. For starters, i mean, what about more than 4 years of blatantly missing Fly-By and Tower View finally and absolute exquisitely corrected !! WOW!!! 😍 I have only just been assigning key- and stick bindings and that in itself is already a great joy ! I can honestly say that never in my give or take 40 years of flightsimming i have been so extremely happy and 110% satisfied with the views both externally and internally and particularly also with the process of setting them up and binding them. You begin to wonder why it sometimes turned out to be a nightmare (and i'm not pointing at FS2020 and 2024... Oh yess i am ! ) Actually the one and only reason i've been awaiting Chase Plane's release was just *because* i'd be getting my most beloved Fly-By and Tower View back. FCR promised that too but turned out to be a total disaster. So i didn't really have much hope it would finally happen with CP, i.e. "Seeing is believing ".... Well, i just saw it and i not only believe it i totally LOVE IT !! 😍 Sofar i have only experienced maybe 25% of what Chase Plane has to offer but if this was it i'd already be over the moon ! There's a certain feel of sophistication surrounding the program that makes you think that it might have taken years of development, dedication and testing. It's an absolute class act !! One little word not allowed : i'm a dedicated MSFS2024 struggler and this ChasePlane Wonder only works with 2020 (2024 version in the pipeline). So to quote the Terminator : "I'll be back ! " And i'm not looking for quoting this other terminator but IMHO " ChasePlane makes MSFS great again!! ". T H A N K S A M I L L I O N //42 !!

On board Paperwork...
Qurious to hear about how you change between the two monitors you want to work with. For example, you have your FS VC on monitor A while you get your plane set up and ready, you have the manual PDF on monitor B and need to scroll to the next page... Would that be just a matter of pushing a dedicated "change monitor" key or a mouse click somewhere ?... Thanks for your help! 😉

On board Paperwork...
Thanks very much for your input, gentlemen ! Particularly the use of a second monitor i completely overlooked...(thanks for the tip, prolixindec and Dave !:) Afraid i shall have to go back and reconsider my strategy. 😉 Not much of a fan of Apple. I 'know' an iPad because my ex has one and when she asks me to help with something i get hopelessly lost in its stucture. (imagine you have to download and install an app first to get Windows Explorer....). I might still consider a tablet instead of a laptop but now there's this second monitor to consider as well... If it was money to add to the decision i think i'd go for the second monitor but since that not the case... i've always kinda liked such a laptop but never saw the need to have one. Here's my chance then... Remarkable non of you uses one... ;o) Decisions, decisions.. in any case thank you all very much again, i'll certainly think it over a bit longer now.. 🙂 Cheers, Jan

among the clouds
Indisputably gorgeous, Jan Kees. The problem is diving into them... A problem that still exists after 40 years of MS Flightsimming... The sad thing is that they have been on the virge of finally correcting it. Ironically this happend to be with the one and only 'black sheep' in the MS Flightsimulator franchise: the unholy MSFlight. With MSFlight, having been a total disaster as far as development is concerned, the new team clearly tried to enhance the flightmodeling but also scenery display including cloud rendering particularly when flying *inside* a cloud. We do that a lot, don't we and even in MSFS2024 MSAsobo failed to develop a better technique to take care of that. It is still the same old boring and cheesy looking transparent bmp's coming at you at the speed of grandma driving her 1920's Ford Model T. For the pinnacle of flightsimulation that is MSFS2020 and -2024 nothing but a real disgraze. Not so with MSFlight ! Everybody that flew the adventure "Take a photographer up above the clouddeck" will have to agree that flying thru 'the murk' and especially getting out of it into the glorious sun-drenched blue sky was an experience never seen before in FS. And,after the sad demise of MSFlight, never seen again in FS.... It shall probabely remain undisclosed forever how the MSFlight team managed it but the shreds of clouds whizzing by at the correct speed when you fly thru them at say 140 knots was a sight to behold. No airliners to try but the sense of speed must've been awesome. Ok, back to grandma's T-Ford then.. Sorry for my ramble but the fact that flying in and out and thru clouds even in FS2024 is still non existent still gets my goat. 😝 Still a beautiful shot, Jan Kees ! 😀

On board Paperwork...
Thank you, Keirtt! Sjeezzz, that Navigraph prog looks amazing after viewing a small tut just now. Must say in FS2020 as well as in 2024 i've just been puttering around in small ac to enjoy the scenery. Time to get a bit more serious, i do love the looks of these new airliners in FS2024. Would you say an iPad is big enough to read manuals and work with LNM and Navigraph ?.. Thanks again !
-
On board Paperwork...
The question is: when you buy a new (to you) complicated aircraft do you read the manual ? And if affirmative do you take it with you while flying and - what this topic is supposed to be about - : how ?? Do you print the manual (i figure not likely....), do you break the immersion by having a look at it on the same monitor or do you have a laptop or tablet next to your FS monitor ? I am asking because i want to stop printing manuals (because it's getting ridiculous and expensive and i need to change glasses all the time..). So i am planning to buy a laptop to have not only the manual but also the flightplan, enroute- and terminal charts and other docs right there with me in the cockpit. I have a cabinet full of out of date Jeppesen enroute and terminal charts (talk about paperwork !) and always loved to use them. It gave me something real in my otherwise all virtual flying world and helped a great deal in the immersion. ( from the Promenade deck at EHAM Schiphol many years ago i could see the pilots in the cockpit struggling with the enormous Jeppesen enroute charts ! I felt proud to get to stuggle with the same enormous Jeppesen charts at home 😉 ) Alas those days are long gone, we have Little Nav Map now and i even forgat the names of earlier digital flightplanning programs. All Jeppesen terminal charts are on line... I could just throw my paper Jeppesen collection away but i certainly won't. They remain very dear to me ! ;o) So what do you recommend, gentlemen, is having a laptop next to my FS monitor the best option to have manuals, flightplans, charts etc. with me in my virtual cockpit ? Does the size matter ? ( thinking of buying a 14" ). Thank you very much for any tips/hints !

Chaseplane
Would you believe me if i say i have been waiting for these words with bated breath ever since MSFS landed on my door mat ??!!! Thank you very much, Keven !! You've made my day, week, month and year !! 🤩 Without a Fly-By- and Tower View mode a PC Flight Simulator program is only a sad state of flying affairs, atleast in my FS book. No matter the totally amazing and breathtaking looks of MSFS and MSFS2024 i, for one, have never been happy with both of these FS versions. How in the virtual world MSAsobo just forgat about these two most important and loved camera view modes is a total mystery (true, MS (Aces Studio) has never been keen to add fly-by and tower view modes to the FS franchise itself, always having a 3rdparty take care of it). Fully aware of the fact that there are lots of flightsimmers outthere who couldn't care less about fly-by and/or tower view (there are simmers who couldn't even care about external models, they never even look at 'em !?? ) but RW pilots don't have the opportunity to step outside for a while during flight and enjoy their beautiful means of transport as it soars by through the ever changing gorgeous cloud skapes.... That happens to be *OUR* prerogative ! To compensate for the fact that we're actually not really leaving Terra firma like they do.... we'd better appreciate that ! Thanks a million again for your wonderful very inspiring comment, Keven ! My cc is burning a hole in my pocket already, i'll be the first inline !! 😉

Chaseplane
I made that remark 3 months ago, Mike. Very pleased to read the latest posts on the subject. To see both 'FlyBy' and 'Tower View' right there on the menu certainly feels encouraging, as does that new (to me) video ! Wow! Still...after each fly-by sequence the scene goes back into the cockpit. Not saying that it won't work with the new CP but a genuine instant Fly-By mode is supposed to continue. Meaning if the user doesn't change to another view the aircraft keeps on flying by along its path, preferable still controlled by the user.... (just like it did with Active Camera in FS9..). Also the video doesn't make clear if the fly-by sequenses are in real time or replay mode i.e. 'instant Fly-By' or 'Replay Fly-By' only.. Both would be the way to go ! 😉 Of course i bought the earlier Chase Plane version too. If it concerns a camera add-on i'd always buy it but ever since Active Camera by the brilliant French/Belgium Anticyclone team i am spoiled to the bone certainly when it comes to Fly-By and Tower View modes. I am 99% sure their amazing AC for FS9 can never be superseded. ( i wonder why nobody else but me talks about AC in topics about FS camera add-ons. Maybe it was only a dream... ;o)

MSFS 2024 Driving Sim!
Of course. MS would look a fool if their 'official numbers' showed the other way around, wouldn't it. There's a LOT of misleading in the world today.. 🙃

MSFS 2024 Driving Sim!
That's not what i asked, capitano. I asked what are *your* "special high demands on a flight simulator" ?...

MSFS 2024 Driving Sim!
Not only plains, trains, cars, off road. Also trucks, busses, trams and boats and it's been already there for about 10 years : "Transport Fever" and "Transport Fever 2". Ok, main goal is to make money by running all that material on profitable lines that you set up so it's a different kettle of fish compared to a flightsimulator as such but if you want you can ride along with all those trains, planes, cars, trucks, busses, trams and boats as well ! And the beauty of it all is that you can start in the year 1850 up until now (if you're lucky you'll see Otto Liliënthal make his first glider flight 1889..) so you'll get to take part in the great and interesting spectacle of transportation development through these ages. (it's a much smaller scale of course but most of the models look fantastic) If i get bored with FS (which happens a LOT lately with all the shenanigans and monkey bussines going on with MSFS2024) i'll load up TF2 asap and enjoy the ease of creating all kinds of virtual worlds filled with beautiful cities to cater for their demands and then just a pick a train, plane, truck, tram, bus or boat and ride along to absorb myself into what i have created. ( you don't have to drive or fly anything yourself you just ride along and enjoy the scenery. What a relief ! 😀 )

Chaseplane
Hmmm... we had that already years ago. Fantastic it was but nothing out of the ordinairy. Flightsims came with Fly-By and Tower view. Period. And control your planes no problem of course. Setup your Tower view and fly your plane like an RC model. That sort of thing. Big fun. In a topic about FS camera views a number of thirdparty FS Camera add-ons are always mentinoned but remarkably ' the Mother of All Camera add-ons' is always missing. If you think Fly-By and Tower view are fantastic wait till you can sit in your cockpit at final approach, see the runway in front of you, point your mouse cursor at a spot alongside the runway and click it (can do it during flight or pause if you like) and continue your approach and land your plane. Than hit the Instant Replay button (like Fly-By and Tower view another feature that belongs to a normal Flightsim program, if not you're being ripped off..) and watch your approach and landing (over and over again if you like) from an aircraft-spotters point of view alongside the runway at precisely the spot that you clicked from inside the cockpit. Nonsense ? Dream On ? Never gonna happen ?.... No Sir, FS9 aka "FS2004 A Centrury Of Flight" about 20 years ago. A thridparty camera add-on called 'Active Camera' by Anticyclone, a French/Belgian programming team, was released for FS9 with which the above description was just one of the incredible features. Alas all water under the bridge (i moved virtual heaven and earth to get them to release their amazing AC for FSX but that never happend..) I am at the front row for a Fly-By and Tower view camera mode to enjoy in MSFS already for 4 friggen years without so much as a how do you do from MSobo. Aircraft need to be seen flying by ! That's their prerogative ! Will 'Chaseplane' finally come to the Fly-By and Tower view rescue ?.... Looking at the few seconds trailer I highly doubt it..

Grumman TBF Avenger.
Absolute ! But she's a hippopotamus not a cobra. 😄
-
Grumman TBF Avenger.
Yep, according to their Discord forum the Avenger can do snap rolls and you'd be amazed about the roll rate... If the speaker of this comment had anything to do with the development of the Orbx Avenger model it's no surprise it turned out like it did. A Grumman TBM/F Avenger cannot/will not do aerobatics. It will fall out of the sky like a brick. It's a truck, a tank if you will. The Orbx Avenger model was created according to the real Avenger VH-MML belonging to Paul Bennet's Airshow corporation in Australia. He has been world aerobatic champion a number of times but that doesn't mean with the Grumman TBM-3E Avenger... 😄 Yes, the .50 calibre gun can still be seen inside the turret so it could've been modeled as well : Could also be true that the external model was made some time ago and so the gun was not part of the original model. Not sure but i have hunge that the extraordinairy beautiful external and internal model was made by a professional modeller and bought by Orbx who 'took care' of adding the flight dynamics, programming, sounds, additional modeling, etc. I could be wrong but i don't think so.. 😉

MSFS Controls... or external? FSUIPC, SPAD...
That's the problem with assigning two (for the time being quite different) flightsims, FS2020 and FS2024, to ONE forum. 177B's post is clear (thanks!) as for all others it can be either FS2020 or FS2024... At the moment that can be like freezing or melting... Does FSUIPC even work with FS2024 ?.... (btw, isn't having one forum for both 2020 and 2024 a bad idea in the first place ?... I do think so myself (shrug..) )
