I use the Asobo Caravan to practice procedures. I fly a Grand Caravan EX with a PT6 and G1000NXI IRL While the Asobo model is reasonably accurate, I'm wondering if there's any improvements out there that I'm not finding. There's plenty of "wants", but in particular, I'm most interested in... The ITT dance... In sim, the ITT just rises to the operational temp, while IRL, the ITT rapidly rises, slows it's roll and then settles back down to operating temp. Hot starts. The ability to overtemp and blow up the engine. Hung starts. Over-torque. The BlackSquare Caravan does a good job of all this, but it's (stanchly) steam gauge. I fly glass, so that doesn't help me. I also fly in VR, so I'd prefer something that still works in VR (one of the mods I tried killed the primary flight controls) It's not a deal breaker though. Is the Asobo Cessna 208B Grand Caravan EX Realism Mod the "latest greatest"? Hello, after the latest major update is anyone experiencing a problem with the sim where at a certain time after launching the flight (I was supposed to write "after takeoff" but this happened a couple times during taxiing to the runway"), depending on where you are the sim stops responding? Screen freezes, audio continues but doesn't change with input for eg. when moving the throttle nothing changes in other words I would say its also frozen. Now it sometimes depends on where you are, lets say you are flying from point A to B and it takes 10 minutes, the sim freezes half way during the flight 5 minutes in. Now if you take a longer path that goes a bit outward it will not freeze until you start getting closer to point B, 8 minutes after takeoff. Again this sometimes depends on where you are, as a couple times it froze during taxi, today I managed to fly for 15 minutes but took a longer path about 10NM away from the normal path I would fly. Long story short, sim stops responding about 10 minutes into flight. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hi there all, AVSIM seems to of changed since i last made a post and added an image. For some reason i'm having trouble this time. When i click the add image button on the forum post i enter the URL of the image which i have got from uploading the image to dropbox, I then get an error from AVSIM telling me i cannot use this file extension on this community? I have edited the image and re-saved it as a different file type and then repeated the above process but i'm still getting the same message. Does anyone have any idea what i am doing wrong? It would be a great help as i can't really post my topic without adding the picture. Thank you, Michael.

Hi there Is there a possible way to downgrade my PMDG 777? It sounds stupid, but I have a specific reason. The aux. fuel tanks on the 777 300er are unavailable (just like in real life) after the upgrade. But I need just a few more NM for my flight to Australia. Thanks! P.S. Is there a possible "cheat" to unlock these?

Hello fellow simmers, I have a good deal on a MCP combo first generation from VRinsignt similar to the one in the pic below, my question is, is this suitable to use with MSFS 2020? With the FBW or the Fenix for example? Taking into account that im a very lazy guy regarding setting up programs, keys and bindings do you think i can put this to work with Axis and OHS or Linda? I habe a razer nari Headset which uses thx spatial audio. MSFS now Supports this. If i use it the sound is amazing. Bit there ia a downside. When using spatial Audio, the ATC Audio is on such a low level, that it isn't understandable at all. Maybe one of you have the same Headset and was able to solve the problem

Hello everyone, I just got an my i7 4790K and I am pretty much not satisfied with the FPS I am getting. 20 - 25 with airbus aerosoft 15 - 22 with pmdg NGX I tried to to tweak my CFG but it looks like nothing is really improving. I added HIGHMEMFIX=1 Affinity mask set to 84 Bufferpool I am using also steve dx10 fixer. Help guys I think i can get more than this FPS with 4ghz I7 processor. Thank you,

just installed UTX USA . the files show up in the settings\scenery library\addon scenery drop down memory 1 to 11. But there is no change in the ground appearance any place in the USA. FSX STEAM, from discs, Win10. * have a high end video card , processor and tons of memory. My son who runs SYSTRONIX built it for me to run FSX. frame rates are mostly 40 to 50+/sec. I think the card is MSI GEFORCE GTX 950 DirectX 12GTX 950 GAMING 2G 2GB 128 Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 X 16 HDCP etc. any ideas about what is wrong ?

Hi all. First, I'll admit that I committed the cardinal sin of not simming for a few years. Things/life/head trauma got in the way and I'm just now returning. When I last flew, it was with FSX/Acceleration (boxed, patched and tweaked). I had a then-capable pc and had a fair bit of experience installing freeware - AI aircraft, ai flightplans, afcads and scenery. I even created a number of FSX afcads on my own and a couple small scenery sets (including stock library objects, some photo-realistic ground textures, land classing and flattens/exclusions) that I was testing for release before I left flight-simming. That computer, its FSX installation and most of my add-on files are now in a dump somewhere after a house fire. In just this last week, I've "returned" and realized that my memory, knowledge and skills aren't "what they used to be". I do not even have FSX installed yet. In quickly browsing the forums over the last week, I am amazed at how the FSX development environment has changed and evolved. For instance, I had never heard of P3D until I started reading the forums again last week. My situation and "near-term goal" in simming is limited to offline/non-multiplayer flight in small, single engine prop aircraft and helos with "as real as you can get via freeware" flight environment (weather, visuals [ground and air-clouds]). I have somehow managed to retain/find my old FS Genesis FSXmesh files that cover the entire globe (I just found out that FS Genesis no longer honors my old Galaxy membership, so finding those files again was financially lucky)and UTX terrain textures. Okay, so here are the questions. (I'm sure I'll have more quickly, but these are the ones currently burning holes in my brainpan.) 1. I lost the boxed discs for FSX but can get them off eBay if necessary. Or should I go with FSX:SE? 2. Aside -what's the deal with P3D? (short quick answer preferred... The real question seems to be whether I should focus on FSX or P3D. Are they mutually compatible, duplicative, what?) 3. Any suggestions on Tutorials/guides I should review - files/threads/posts here or on youtube? As I said or implied, what I don't remember fills thousands of threads here and where to start again is a bit overwhelming. 4. What are the "must have" freeware environment packages now? (I don't even remember what I used to have - and most of the ones I had back in the day were payware.) Thanks for your time and any replies. John Martin

Hi there people it has been at least a year since I've visited avsim and it's good to be back. Been steadily/fairly consistently getting some flights in.......mostly short hops in the CRJ using FSX and it's going well so now I would like to branch out and connect with other fs pilots and groups to fly with. Here's the thing....since I've been away I got a new computer but it came with no dvd player to load my old FSX Gold discs so I opted to jump onto Steam which wasn't around the last time I came on. Trouble is...in Steam the multiplayer option seems VERY limited as far as participation/interaction etc....like for example it doesn't allow me to join ANY group via "connect directly" using their number sequence address that they give out on the websites. I seem to recall back when I was using Gold that there were MANY more sessions I could join and the people were FAR more professional and interactive (the Steam groups seem to be mostly kids horsing around and talking junk) so that said can anybody direct me what steps I need to take in order to join up with some groups to fly with....like some really good ones that also host ATC?? Btw just in case......I took to transferring all of the files on the 3 discs of Gold to a USB thumb drive that I now have at the ready if it turns out that your responses indicate that this is indeed preferable to Steam. I can see all the files listed when I open up the thumb but have no clue how to add it all into the new computer although from everything I've read it looks like the "setup.exe" file on disc one is the place to begin? Also can anybody comment on what would be....at least minimally/at the very least.......the best add ons I should bring in now in order to enhance the experience? I live in South Florida and my home airport is KPBI (Palm Beach International) so it would be cool to get a local scenery package. Also any good ideas out there as far as freebies and freeware? As I recall I think I can add a lot of planes here in avsim correct? This isn't necessarily a huge deal for me right now as I want to continue to master the RJ. 4 yrs ago i was going to jump into flight sim world but racing cars consumed up a lot of my time. Im throttling back on racing and looking to get into flying and eventually my real pilots license. My pc: triple monitors,INTEL BOX INTEL CORE I5-6600K, GIGABYTE Z170XGAMING5 LGA1151 ATX, liquid cooled, SAMSUNG E 250GB 850 EVO SSD, NVIDIA GTX 980 video cars, sound blaster audio card with surround sound speakers. Running Windows 7 Professional My Questions: 1. i would like controls for flying to fit the above obutto link, i have a great set off racingpedals with gas, brake, and clutch, can i use the gas and clutch in a sym for my rudder pedals? they are screwed down and would be easier to have one set for both. So i am open for options on controls, i would like something good may be not the best unless the difference in price is minimal. 2. what program? i use iracing for racing because its easy web based, adding mods is easy and plenty of people who use it to help with any issues. So any recommendations on programs. Any threads that shows the differences between the offerings? Again a main concern of mine is learning and using what i learn in the real world but thats not to say id love to get in the cockpit of some planes i would never fly. 3.anything else i need to know, any books to read ( i have read stick and rudder) or other forums to look at for experience? Hi I am working on how to be able to link a HID Macro button to a certain gauge or the other way around I am VERY new to coding and such, and are beaten by the confusing situation regarding coding gauges and macros I am trying to code a macro to my APU gauge in my flightsim FSX I did find a default FSX command to toggle APU, but my gauge wont react to the command I am using a spare keyboard so I cant tell if a command is working without the gauge activating also as a ref Any help is much appreciated

How am I supposed to manage this. I know the plane automatically handles the prop, but most of the time the prop is in the yellow and sometimes in the red, which is what is necessary when taking off or climbing. What am I doing wrong?

I bought northern California from orbx and in big cities in the bay area with add on aircraft from qualitywings and alabeo, my fps drop from 30 locked to fluctuating from 20-24. is this normal?. this doesn't happen in regular ftx global big cities. my 4790k is overclocked to 4.5ghz at 1.325, I got a gtx 660, no cfg tweaks and NVidia inspector set at the recommended settings. my autogen is at extremely dense/dense. all traffic 16. water low2x. that's pretty much it. let me know your opinions and any tweaks you think I need

Hello all, thank you for letting me join your forum. I work in a school am am looking to bring a fun but educational flight sim experience to the children. I have a 4m wide fixed projector screen with a decent projector, great sound system and a range of decent PCs at my disposal. My plan was to mock up some kind of seating arrangement a few meters away from the projector screen. I was planning on downloading Microsoft Flight Simulator from Steam on to an i5 laptop to run the software. I have £200.00 to spend of accessories to take my current 'computer gaming' experience in to a 'flight sim' experience, I was thinking that a set of buttons and controls would be my main investment. If you were in my situation, what would you spend your £200.00 on to make this happen? Many thanks in advance for your contributions, Matt

on youtube I saw fantastic scenery with Budapest - City. Could give me anybody an advise, where to get that? Because on my FSX there even is no Danude-river... Is there any scenery, which shows Hungary more detalled?

I'm looking to upgrade from my GTX560 to something with more horsepower to more closely match my CPU so I can get a better experience in FSX. See my signature for system specs. I currently run the latest FSX with all upgrades in DX10 mode. I use REX Overdrive (latest version) for my weather engine, REX 4 Texture Direct, ORBX sceneries, Carenado, Alabeo, IRIS and A2A add-on aircraft along with accu-feel. Also use the latest DX10 Fixer from Steve. Run on a single 24" wide screen monitor at 1920x1280 res - using an external frame rate limiter set to 30fps. Most setting in FSX are at MAX except Autogen = Dense, Water = Low 2x, Vehicles = 7%, Ships & Boats both = 0%, My system runs pretty well, but has occasional stutters and some slowly loading textures which cause occasional black flashes in the sceneries. I'm guessing that the graphics card just can't keep up. So, I'm thinking of upgrading to one of the newer cards, like the GTX970. Perhaps an older card family like the 700 series may be fine if as fast or faster, like the GTX780??? Budget is $500 MAX I'm sure that changing my memory sticks would also help, but I don't know enough about that stuff and haven't researched it yet. Read that NVIDIA is better than ATI for running FSX so that is why I'm leaning towards NVIDIA also. Any and all suggestions appreciated !

When flying in any phase of fsx the program will minimize down and it will not go back to normal view. I have to control alt delete to quit the program and restart it. How can I avoid this?

I've been using little navmap for a while. Last night I briefly saw a window/menu where I could set an altitude for a waypoint. It quickly disappeared. Did I imagine this? How can I get it back? Thanks.
