  1. I haven't gotten a reply yet from @RTX, but it is the holiday and a lot of people are traveling... I rebuilt me computer recently and just upgraded to XP12. So far I have not been able to get my version of the GTN650 to load. Does anyone know if I need to purchase a new version or if there is an update I can get someplace? Or is there just something I'm missing in the installation that will not let me load into XP12. Thx
  2. Found some excellent new freeware scenery so I did a flight from KBID to KSYR (Verticalsim) in the Aerobask DA50RG. The new diamond single is a joy to fly and I was able to sit in one at Oshkosh... it's just a unique plane that is very modern. I'd love to own one someday! 3. Anyone had any success with adding the GTN750/650 stack to the 3D panel on the XP12 default Laminar C172? I know the text I added to the .acf file in XP11 does not work the same. Any tips or software suggestions that could help me integrate it myself? Plane maker for the 3d panel does not look friendly. It's just weird seeing a 530/430 stack on the panel and toggling 750 / 650 windows . Thanks. Torg
  4. Hi Dave I've migrated my set up to XP12 and currently moving over all the apps....and just finished with P2ATC and works OK, so far... BUT on starting the app I have a BLANK 2DPANEL. Checking thro the app cannot find where this originates... hummm. Any ideas or is a bug? Cheers Nik
  5. The other day I found that vFlyteAir updated their PA30 twin comanche for XP12. I absolutely enjoyed the plane in 11 so I naturally went for the updated version (about 20 USD - 35 USD for the full version). Aside from ever so slightly dated visuals, the systems depth and avionics just blew me away. The plane comes with a classic analog panel or a mix of glass/analog. The product also comes with excellent paper manuals including charts, POH, and detailed guides to the glass systems. They did a lovely job modelling the Garmin G5s, the Garmin TXi engine monitor (don't think I've ever seen a TXi in any sim!), and the GFC 500 Autopilot. They've also done a nice job with the older KAP140 AP and the traditional (but capable) instruments like the ADF, and HSI. I fly a small Beech with G5's so I was very excited to see VFA's rendition. Long story short - they are excellent simulated versions. Anyway, the PA30 cruises just shy of 180 ktas at 75% power around 8000 ft. Unless you've got a monster headwind you'll be doing about 3 miles per minute - plenty of endurance especially with the tip tanks. This plane also has a nice feature I wish some MSFS addons had - ability to put on headphones and essentially mute the engine noise. But perhaps you don't want to do that as the product has nice sounds 🙂 I'm doing a short flight from Syracuse NY to Saratoga County 5B2. We cruise at 7000 at 75% power, but we've filed IFR as we're likely to encounter rainshowers. We'll plan to shoot an rnav approach into 5B2. Hope you enjoy the pics and I really recommend this addon! I thought the rampies were going to untie me? Untitled-1 by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr This is the Verticalsim KSYR rendition in XP12 - it's well done! (yes I have the MSFS version too) Untitled-3 by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr Turning on course and we'll pickup a cruise climb of about 113 knots (typically the top of the white arc in most planes) Untitled-5 by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr Their version of the Garmin TXi is honestly wow! It's well done an lean assist works too Untitled-6 by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr I was hoping to view the countryside but we're in and out of IMC the entire trip Untitled-7 by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr On top for just a moment... 6. I'm beginning to feel distinctly unfaithful at the moment. I'm really having a ball playing with XP12 right now. I symlinked to a couple more bits and pieces from my XP11 scenery, and took my new 319 out for a circuit around KSEA. Got my Traffic Global working, so lots of activity around (although nothing particularly grabbed in these shots), and I'm actually enjoying the 319 immensely - even if I haven't even got my controllers re-mapped yet. I'm used to ignoring all those switches and gauges but at the moment I can't even set the flaps! (see, you really don't need to be a pilot to enjoy simming) So, out from KSEA, off to Mt Pointy, and back in and down at Boeing Field (is that what it's called?) Great fun! I really can't believe how good these two sims are today. And for my purposes and tastes, XP12 with TrueEarth and MSFS when the PG is being served up unmelted are pretty much equals. As Mr Perry might say - "could it BE any better?"
  7. just the default Palm Springs, Used to be a favourite in the old P3D days with all the Orbx stuff, so I thought I'd see what it looked like in XP12. Possibly inapprpriate weather to start with, no idea if it ever gets like this around there but hey . . Weather clearing now I am getting spoiled by the lighting and atmospherics in XP12. If I could port these aspects to the MSFS world I really would have the absolutely perfect sim. I think I shall start experimenting with filters and the like in MSFS, as I'm finding it a bit bright and harsh now I've gotten back into XP12.
  8. Just got this B720 from the .Org site. Got some of my missing airports back as well (I'd forgotten all the joys of the scenery.packs.ini malarkey - got myself a copy of XOrganizer now to deal with it for me), so four quickies around SF. Had a nice little flight over TE GB as well, but didn't grab any shots. I'll experiment with putting some of my XP11 Orbx UK airports in next and take another trip and see.
  9. XP12 4K - Live Weather - MaxxFX - Amsterdam Aiport by FlyTampa OrbxDirect / Just flight Traffic Global
  10. A night circuit in XP12 Release Candidate 1. YouTube has pixelated some of the effects, but it looked sharp on the monitor. The traffic and trains really add to the realism.
  11. I quick commuter flight from KSTS in Sonoma County, CA, down to KMRY in Monterey, CA. I'm loving the FlyJSim Q4XP. ...and yes, that wasn't a great centerline landing...😅
  12. XP12, all default except the Toliss A319 into Belfast, short hop from Liverpool....wanted to test my TCA Thrustmaster Capt edition as I haven't used it in a while...
  13. Most realistic cirrus clouds I have yet seen in a simulator! Ground satelite imagery from AutoOrtho, lighting and cloud effects XP12 / VisualXP. Aircraft vapour trails, top right in first image courtesy of LiveTraffic plugin for XP12.
  14. Flight between LEPA - ESSA in Lufthansa Cargo livery of the Rotatesim MD11. RW weather services used. XP12 settings at medium/high. Notice that Rotatesim has yet to fix the internal lighting properly for XP12. (will come eventually) XP is having a hard time depicting realistic cloudscapes from the higher flightlevels. Much work is needed IMO. This is how my XP11 installation looks like with enhanced skyscapes add-on. Thanks for looking.
  15. ActiveSky for XP12 has been released in open beta. ASXP uses the default XP12 clouds. In these three screen shots I have used ASXP for the weather engine and clouds, then enhanced the clouds and sky with VisualXP. The combination is very good indeed!
  16. Cirrus, Stratus and aircraft vapour trails with the latest version of VisualXP - vapour trails using LiveTraffic
  17. I have LNM on a second (linux) Laptop. I copied the databases and all seems to work. Also i pointed to the windows PC weather Folder. But when i look up the weather for an airport, only NOAA is shown.
  18. Coming from the 737 to the Q400 will teach, no, it will DEMAND that you to stay ahead of the aircraft! I am scrambling as we near the arrival airport...going to need more time to get comfortable again.
  19. With a bit of effort, XP12 is a feast for the eyes. Screenshots and a couple of videos over the SW USA.
  20. A few screenshots from the ground in XP12.
  21. I've been waiting to post screenshots and allow XP12 to get to "final release." The beta cycle was a bit rough as they sometimes can be. When I first got this sim (I've used XP10 and 11 extensively in the past), the fps were awful especially near clouds (and this was on my older 1080 ti - running 1440p monitor). It was clear I would need a new card. Obviously since I use MSFS and I wanted frame gen I settled on the 4080. Oddly enough it didn't change fps that much... so I think what happened is that Laminar nerfed a lot of the anti aliasing for the final release. I took these shots in FXAA which is the smoothest I could find - but some images still contain jaggies and it's ugly. MSAA appears to be totally inoperative. I'm guessing LR has issues running msaa near and inside of clouds (this is where I had the worst experiences even with the 4080). So while the fps are now great (about 50-70) - they're only great because I'm in FXAA and not MSAA. MSAA in XP11 was amazing - very smooth edges but clear images. I hope LR can work on the AA issues. Additionally it wasn't so throughout the beta period, but I'm finding the sky and lighting to be very dim. They upped the contrast so it's a bit more realistic but everything is just dark. Even in sunlight the HDR lighting seems to overcompensate. Similar to MSFS where in cockpit everything outside is white washed... or if looking at a bright sky the rest of the plane is darkened.... but the range is too broad here in XP. IMO It also needs more tuning. Flight model wise - I feel like LR really improved the sim, especially tail draggers. They were unflyable in xp11. I just feel the flight model is smoother and more believable than in msfs (in general - some msfs addons are very good!) I don't have any science to back this up just my feelings (vs flying small singles irl). With my thoughts out of the way here is the Aerobask DA50RG in XP12. I found this paint yesterday and it's exquisite! It's beautiful and so I wanted to show it off with the really amazing addon that Aerobask has produced. The sounds are great, flying it by hand is great - it's simply a solid addon. About 40USD for both xp11 and 12 support. It uses the default LR G1000 - which is a pretty good representation of the real original G1000. I will say though, it's not as good as WT's NXi version in msfs (not from a OG vs NXi standpoint but from a more complete standpoint). LR should again up their game here. I heard on the WT discord (ironically), that some user is making a payware DA40 with G1000Nxi for XP12 - so perhaps a better XP G1000 will come out! I'm starting to use XP12 a little more but it's still far less than MSFS. I'd say I'm split about 80/20 still. Anyway enough rambling here are my shots - a quick VFR flight from Central Wisconsin KCWA to Green Bay, WI KGRB. The DA50 is pretty quick but also has flight into known icing capabilities - so it's similar to a Cirrus but without the parachute. The Cirrus may be just a touch faster but I don't have their numbers for FL140 - where Diamond lists the cruise speed of 172 KTAS at 82% power. About 3 miles a minute. Lower I think I saw speeds of around 150-160 ktas. Just lifted off CWA, tower approved an early turnout Untitled-1 by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr This is a default airport and LR did a pretty good job with the buildings Untitled-2 by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr G1000 systems wise is decent but the look is a little hokey imo Untitled-3 by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr This is about the brightest screenshot I could get because I was looking down at dark trees, which brightened up the scene Untitled-4 by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr Appears to be some interesting patchwork issues - but the general default scenery looks believable Untitled-5 by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr Clouds are set to max here and you can see just how blurry and lacking of detial they are. Similar to msfs (but those look more detailed on ultra) - both sims's clouds look better from further away. I will say the general atmosphere (less the extra dark skies) looks slightly better than msfs and more natural. Untitled-7 by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr Look at this livery it's gorgeous! Untitled-8 by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr Untitled-9 by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr This lake is nice and smooth but some have sharp edges and look weird. Untitled-10 by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr Aerobask's interior is lovely Untitled-11 by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr Untitled-12 by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr Untitled-13 by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr Town of Clintonville WI (airport KCLI) Untitled-14 by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr That sun looks great - I really like it! They improved it from the nuclear blast in the first betas. Untitled-15 by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr Green Bay! Untitled-18 by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr Home of the Green Bay Packers (I did not swing my Lambeau Field - I'm a Vikings fan!) Untitled-19 by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr Another default airport (I hardly have any addon airports yet) Untitled-20 by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr Runway looks realistic to me! Untitled-22 by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr Some weird looking oscillations near the end Untitled-23 by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr Ok you can get out now people! Untitled-24 by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr
