July 2, 200322 yr Seeing that it would be easier for the team to look through one thread, could you please post issues you have with the AIRCRAFT here, not issues with keys etc. Also, please give as much detail for a given problem you are having so it's easier for them to replicate. Thank you for your understanding. The preformance issue when using-switching from VC is known, i.e. using a large amount of memory causing preformance problems~~[h5]Best Wishes,Randy J. July 2, 200322 yr Author I suggest you all (when you get a breather that is) might want to start a FAQ and anchor it at the top. You might want to add an item saying that a cold and dark start needs the avionics switch from the previous aircraft to be LEFT ON.Tested with cessna avionics on first ... works fine.THANK YOU ALL for this neat software.Regards,Paul BenoitKBOS[h5]Best Wishes,Randy J. July 2, 200322 yr Okay. From another thread. Plus two added items that I forgot last night (the last ones).1. The flip switches obviously work in a manner, that whenever the flip is open, the switch inside is turned OFF automatically, right ? If not so, then I wonder why I can't access the swithces inside the flips at all . Go ahead, laugh.. this was just the first time I've seen anything like this done before.2. Alternate Flaps switch experiences some kind of delay when operating, is this normal ?3. Isolation Valve switches only have one direction of operating, ie. I can only move the sequence in one direction, thus if I'm in position 3, I have to move via position 1 to get to position 2. Why isn't there a possibility to move the switches in two directions. Obviously you don't use the switches like that in the real aircraft. (through a non-desired position that is)4. Apu Bleed switch doesn't move at all when APU is not operative. Is this also the case IRL ?5. Window heat switches seem to also be "jammed" until the aircraft is powered properly, I'm not sure but I think they needed the engines running to move. Why ?6. The hand that indicates that a movable switch is under it, is a bit misleading. There's a + -sign even if there's only ONE spot where to operate the SW. I think the + and - signs should appear only if the switch can be moved into two different directions. If there's only one click spot for the switch, the hand should appear without any signs on it.7. In the overhead bitmap the texts LOGO, POSITION and RWY TURNOFF are twisted a bit ? Is it my display adapter, or the case in the real a/c ? Or a "bug" ?8. The RMI seems a bit blurry, the scale that is. 9. FMC IRS POS entry. I couldn't enter the IRS position in the format that the empty boxes indicate (the same style as in 767PIC). Only after I entered the REF AIRPORT and got coordinates (which were wrong for the gate I was standing) and then copied them through the LSK to the IRS POS field, I was able to get the FMC to accept my entry. Do we need the degree-character to enter the IRS position, and if so, where is it to be found ?10. Spoilers cannot be moved on the ground at all. I have the spoilers mapped to my CH Yoke, and in the air there seems to be only the three positions in which the handle can be set, even though I have a lever configured for it (works in PIC). Also, when I used the lever to select full spoilers (yup, no flight setting), I couldn't get them up anymore with the lever, and had to press "*" on the keyboard instead.11. f/d operation on takeoff and intial climb is very odd. I didn't seem to get the V2+15-25 command, it just wanted me to pull the nose quite up all the time. It seemed totally erratic on takeoff, and had I done what it told me to, I would've been in trouble.12. f/d corsshairs are very thin, if it's the case in the real-life jet, ok. They're just a bit hard to follow in the main panel. Yes, I know there's the zoomed panel, but I don't want to be switching from view to view all the time.13. The RMI needle operation seems to be faster than light. Does the needle really move in a fraction of the second when the source is selected from the knob ?14. If one selects a RWY for arrival in the FMC, one cannot MOVE the RWY -waypoint UP in the legs page, like one can do with ordinary waypoints (ie. skip a wpt in between). It says "not in database". This should work. It can be achieved by deleting the desired waypoint, to move the RWY-waypoint up, but I think the other way should work as well.15. VNAV levels the aircraft at FL100 for decceleration to 250 (which is the limit). Does the real plane do this also ? I suspect it does. I just decided to mention this, as the 757/767 does this differently, ie. no level offs at FL100, but a deceleration with continuous descent from FL110 ->.16. When one selects an MCP altitude different than the VNAV CRZ altitude in the FMC, the FMA still indicates VNAV PT rather than ALT HOLD when arriving at the MCP altitude. Is this right ? 17. If the aircraft for some reason drifts above the VNAV CRZ altitude, it will not descend back to the assigned altitude even if VNAV is engaged (VNAV PT annunciated), but stays on the wrong altitude, no matter what. One has to use V/S or LVL CHG to get back to the correct cruising altitude. 18. The throttle movement in A/T modes is sometimes excessive. The throttles move back and forth pretty much, no delicate adjustments, but rather abrupt and large movements. It isn't this rude IRL.19. The pressurization is partially modelled, but why aren't the displays modelled ? Kind of takes the whole meaning away, doesn't it ?20. The GPWS callout "ten" during landing is obviously very wrong or I'm just ignorant. It calls "ten" when the wheels take contact. After landing the RA indicates "10" on the ground. In my past experience "ten" meant ten feet AGL, not ten centimeters AGL. What is amiss ?21. Where is IDLE TAXI ? Even entirely empty (no pax or cargo) aircraft with 20% fuel, required a good 40% n1 thrust to even move.22. I had serious problems on a test flight from EFHK to ESSA with the ILS receiver. It didn't find any signal. This was the first time with any FS aircraft that it didn't find the signal. I tried all the runways, and even had both NAV's tuned to the same freq. On a previous flight from EFHK to EFTP the ILS worked fine. I wonder what was going on there.23. As I was not getting the ILS to receive anything, even though I had manually tuned everything right, I tried to press the APP-button. Normally, with no signal, the APP button should NOT have any effect. With this bird, however, the G/S mode activated (with no signal visible!) and started a deep dive into the ground...24. The GPWS shouted several times at me when there was absolutely no danger whatsoever. When I was descending to 2000ft in LVL CHG (shallow descent) in a FLAT area, with NO hills or mountaneous terrain below, it yelled "sink rate! pull up!"rgdsTero PPL(A)

July 2, 200322 yr We might a few others to the list- Insufficient fuel warnings throughout the flight, even though there is more than enough fuel for the trip- The APP/GS dive issue, I've been experiencing it as well, workaround is to not to engage APP until the glideslope becomes visible, use LOC/VOR until GS becomes active instead- ALT-tabbing out of FS has the potential of causing engine shutdown, happened to me on the last two flights, managed to recover in time- Fuel inbalance issue over longer flights- Watching the landing in external view (I don't do it normally, for obvious reasons, tried it just for fun) causes the plane to bank and refuse to touchdown- AP fails to disconnect upon autoland touchdown, manual disconnection (through depressing "Z") does not disconnect it either, I actually have to click on the buttons to turn it off, rather annoying when there are other aspects of the procedure one has to take care of at the same timeWhile not all of those things may be "bugs" per se, just some random observations, I'm still very much enjoying this bird :) Cheers, Mack i7 950 @ 4Ghz :Apogee XT waterblock: EVGA X58 Classified :EK full-cover waterblock: Feser X-Changer 360: 3 x GTX 570 (Tri-SLI): EK full-cover waterblocks : Thermochill PA 120.2: 6GB Corsair Dominator 1600Mhz RAM (stock speeds) : FS9 & FSX @ 1920x1080 on Windows 7 x64
July 2, 200322 yr Im having FPS probs in the 2d cockpit for some reason. I have the refresh rate on like 7fps which is very low!!!. I usually have problems while taking off and landing-they are usually 10fps which i consider very low providing everyother piece of quality payware panels never go below 20fps!!!. This is a big differance and i see no big differences in how complex all these payware panels are?Another thing when loading another part of the panel such as overhead it takes like 30 seconds to load!!!, this is very slow and once again i have never experianced this in other payware products such as PSS320, GA737, PSS777, PSS747 or PIC767. It seems to be just a bit slow for cockpit views?? Thanks!
July 2, 200322 yr Good call Randy!Just a quick point (flame proof clothing on): since this is supposed to be a issue thread and not a wish-list could we please refrain from commenting on different nuts and bolts that MAY OR MAY NOT exist in the real planes and that aren /Tord Hoppe, Sweden
July 2, 200322 yr Ben, the fps problem has been adressed in many threads and is something PMDG is looking into. I have it too and the solution until PMDG comes out with a fix is to stay in 2D cockpit mode and never enter VC mode. If you however go to VC mode you can get the fps up again by switching to another program in Windows and then go back to 2D cockpit view again. Another interim fix is to choose an aircraft with 2D cockpit view only!As for loading another panel my reaction was the complete opposite! :) The overhead panel loads immediately, it's really a matter of tenths of a second! Perhaps it's hardware related? I have 1 GB of RAM and a GF 4200 card with 128 MB RAM.I realize you HAVE a problem of course with the loading! :) I'm just stating that it's not a general problem that everybody has!Happy flying/Krister Krister LindénEFMA, Finland------------------
July 2, 200322 yr The only problem I've encountered so far, not counting the fps issue with VC, is that I'm unable to deactivate the spoilers with the default key (and also the button on my CH yoke that is mapped to that key). One person said that pushing the button quickly two times in a row worked for him, but not for me. Perhaps this is something that is covered in the manual./Krister Krister LindénEFMA, Finland------------------
July 2, 200322 yr Commercial Member Other than the one major bug (the now infamous VNAV death-dive), I've seen:1. The FMC doesn't appear to be calculating V-speeds correctly when you use the automatic calculation function - they're very low, in the 11x to 12x range.2. I need to test this a bit more, but I entered a speed constraint and the plane slowed to that speed almost 30nm from the waypoint - shouldn't it slow right as it's nearing the waypoint? Could be related to the other VNAV problems, so I'll reserve judgement until the patch.3. I too have experienced the odd "insufficient fuel" FMC prompt even when I have twice the necessary fuel on board...4. Climb rates seem like they *may* be slightly exagerated - I'm seeing 4000-6000FPM routinely after takeoff and this is with a near full load and high OAT. I don't know though - it's possible that the real NG can do this, but something tells me it might be a tad off.5. The MCP V/S wheel goes in the wrong direction when using a mousewheel to turn it - I'd expect rolling the mouse forward would emulate the real control and force the nose down, but it's backwards.Other than these small issues (which I'm positive will be resolved in very short order judging by the level of support and involvement seen here), this plane is immensely enjoyable - it's so great to finally have a viable short range companion to 767PIC - I can't wait to get FS2004 and try it out with the new weather etc!Ryan Ryan MaziarzFor fastest support, please submit a ticket at http://support.precisionmanuals.com
July 2, 200322 yr For anyone having fuel balance/insufficient fuel msg's, try this: go to the aircraft cfg file and change fuel selectors from 1 to 3. One would think it should read 3 seeing as how there are 3 tanks right?EDIT: I cannot seem to turn the APU off? Eric
July 2, 200322 yr This has been moved from another topic I posted...As this topic is more suited...Hi there PMDG!Thanks for this amazing product!!I have not been able to fly that much, because my FS2002 crashed some times, do no why...It just closed FS2002 with out any warning or anything??Ah well...The panel is amazing!I have just witnessed drops of 10 or more frame rates! Not simply descending frame rates, but a total loss of 10 or more frame rates! They would then climb again to 14-16 frame rates again, but that is a bit too jerky...I think that I will get better frame rates if I used a model with out VC and Wing views, so I'll experiment with all that later...The exterior model is a beauty, but the frame rates are awful...I was standing in R
July 2, 200322 yr Commercial Member V-speed tables have not been invented. They come precisely from the QRH issued by Boeing.Climb rates are EXACTLY what they should be. Performance has been tuned to match within 5% (or less) the official Boeing QRH. Did I mention 5% or less ? That includes climb rates, fuel flow, pitch angles, %N1 values and what-have-you for clean / flaps / gear down, cruising, holding, single engine, double flame-out and you name it configurations. Please do not assume that information acquired from FS is always valid. Usually it is not.Handling : The 737 is one of the most docile and easy planes to fly. If you found it difficult when using other "models" too bad for other "models" --- probably not designed by a professional aerodynamicist but by an FS educated amateur. The 757 is an entirely different beast. Thanks for all your comments. Keep posting and keep asking for more and more features.Vangelis ====================================== E. M. July 2, 200322 yr I have a problem with the lights too. The tail logo light is only off when all the other lights are off even though its switched off on the panel. And where is the panel light switch? Have I missed something?I noticed that the landing/taxi lights were also on even though I had switched them off too. Also the APU sounds seem to turn off if you swap to a different view. Also the Software Doc shortcut points to the wrong path and I can't find the PMDG_FMC flight on my system.I'm also getting the very poor FPS rate with the default scenery.
July 2, 200322 yr I did the suggested change from 1 to 3 and everything seemed to work fine! The APU draws fuel from the left tank and when the engines are started and APU shutdown there seems to be an even fuel consumption. I only did a short flight, so I can /Tord Hoppe, Sweden
