October 3, 200817 yr Has anyone tried the new Saitek Yoke and Throttle Quad? I was wondering how it compares to the CH Yoke and Throttle Quad. Thanks!
October 3, 200817 yr I use both with no issues. Axis assignment is in FS with calibration by FSUPIC.For me, the Saitek yoke and throttle quad are smoother than the CH products and provide better control and "feel".Jim Harnes
October 3, 200817 yr I have had the CH yoke , Rudder pedals and throttle quad for a long timeI now have the Saitek yoke Rudder pedals and two of the throttle unitsIMHO the Saitek is light years ahead of the CH stuff at this point. It is a shame as CH had this market to themselves for years and through inactivity and plain bad design (CH Quad) they threw it away.If you want any more proof just have a look at the new CH Eclipse yoke :-)
October 3, 200817 yr I'm using a Saitek Pro Yoke with throttle quad and also I am using an additional throtle quad. Could not be happier with the controls and have had zero issues. They were a very good hardware investment. I use FSUIPC for my axis assigments and programming.
October 4, 200817 yr After a couple months I now have noise on my Saitek aileron axis. Maybe I should send it in for service? The elevator axis is rock solid.scott s..
October 5, 200817 yr I have the yoke with a 2nd throttle and it works great. I have used it now for 4 months now with no problems.Greg Moorehttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/747400.jpghttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/for...argo_hauler.gif Greg Moore KFMH https://forum.pmdg.com/filedata/fetch?id=127275&d=1622041469&type=thumb
October 5, 200817 yr When they first came out, people were having issues with random key presses. Have these problems now been corrected?EwingKATLAlcohol, Tobacco and Firearms should be a store, not a government agency.MSI K8N Neo2 PlatinumAMD Opteron 185 2.6 Ghz Dual Core2GB Kingston HyperX (2X1GB) Dual Channel DDR 2-3-2-6 @ 1TXFX nVIDIA GeForce 7900 GS 256MB DDR3 AGPSound Blaster Audigy LSSilverStone Decathlon 750W +12v@60A [email protected] on WinXPPro (SP1)
December 10, 200817 yr The phantom key press issue was fixed sometime ago with new firmware.SargeskiDo you have any more details on this firmware - is it just a driver update or something else, a quick search on the internet just seemed to point at the drivers?TaGary
December 10, 200817 yr SargeskiDo you have any more details on this firmware - is it just a driver update or something else, a quick search on the internet just seemed to point at the drivers?TaGaryIf you search the forums here you will find more of the information you seek. Firmware is the embeded software on the controller. There was a problem in the firmware, when the units were first released, that resulted in phantom key presses. Saitek made the necessary changes to the firmware at the time and all new production units were manufactured with the upgraded firmware. I beleive that the phantom key press issues were limited to the 47 series (original production run) of serial numbers. Saitek was very good about sending replacement units out to customers that had issues with no questions aked. They sent replacements at no charge and you shipped your "phantom impaired" unit back. The bad units were removed from circulation. All units manufactured on or after November 12th, 2007 had the upgraded firmware. If you are asking if there is a downloadable update available to fix the phantom key press issue there is no such update available and there never was.I see in another thread you have issues related to your view panning when an axis is moved, There were others that experienced this phenomena also and I'm not sure what the cure is. If you are using the Saitek programming software I would recommend uninstalling it and see if the problem goes away. I would also recommend that you ask for help in the Saitek forums or contact Saitek directly. Your unit has a two year warranty and they stand behind this product very well...I had mine swapped out at one time (at no charge to me) because the LCD backlight became DIM.
December 11, 200817 yr I have a very basic question about the size and fit of the yoke - can it be used on a desk that has a keyboard drawer? I haven't seen the unit in the flesh, but pictures seem to show a plastic extension on the front of the yoke housing that comes down several inches. It looks like it'd project into the drawer. If that's so, I'm going to have to stick with the CH Yoke. Let me know if I'm seeing the picture correctly or not.Alan Alan Ampolsk"Ah, Paula, they are firing at me!"-- Saint-Exupery

However, if you search the forums, you will find some posts where users bought smaller clamps at Home Depot and were able to modify the clamping of the yoke so it would work with a keyboard drawer.

There is a sticky on the saitek forums about phantom key presses that gives advice about deleting "joystick" assignments in FSX and also the FAQ at saitek has some guidance on getting rid of drivers - unfortunately none of that worked. The specific issue with my set up is when I leave the 2 x saitek throttle quadrant plugged in it causes the panning to go straight to top dead centre. What is unusual is that both my quadrants cause the same effect when plugged in independently and as I have had them for 15 months I would be surprised if there was a hardware issue at fault. I'm thinking it might be a driver problem (I dont have the SST s/w installed)...anyway I'll pursue it on the saitek forums.TaGary

December 12, 200817 yr The Saitek yoke clamp does clear on my desk -- but will hit the keyboard. My keyboard tray is big enough that I can push my keyboard slightly left and pull it towards me all the way and it works OK that way.I use the microsoft hid drivers and it works fine. I delete all joystick assignments for it in fs9/fsx, and do it all with FSUIPC. That way I have custom setups for each aircraft type.scott s..
