November 22, 200520 yr "Seriously this is as good as or better than 90% of the payware GA aircraft that i own, and that is a big list."It's a big winner--probably the most anticipated title I've had to think about (freeware or payware) this year. What I saw during the brief session in which I built my screenshots certainly exceeded my expectations. I can't wait to see it adorned in some of the paints I've seen floating around airliners.net.I observed something funny about this class of aircraft a few weeks ago. I was out shopping and being under the point where aircraft turn final into Goodyear airport in Arizona, I looked skyward when I heard what sounded like a light jet going over. I was stunned to see it was Pilatus--sounded just like a light jet, and if I hadn't of looked up I would have gone on thinking that. I have to wonder if the TBM has the same sound...-John
November 22, 200520 yr Just took her for a quick spin around the Patch. (F70 to PSP). :-)Nice aircraft, and I promise to put it through its paces.I just want to say thanks to the REAL Authors of this AIcraft. November 22, 200520 yr I wanted to point out something often overlooked in releases like this. I don't think it's known how challenging documentation is at times. I wanted to really commend this team for the documentation included with this package. It was top notch--certainly a lot of style and it puts any documentation I have ever written to shame...So this goes out to the unsung heroes--those who write the documentation--that we never talk about it seems...-John
November 22, 200520 yr >Tom,>>He came right out and accused the Author of something. Is that>ok for him to do?>>Please read what he wrote.Perhaps you should give the post another read. He accused the author of nothing. He simply expressed surprise and disappointment that an apparently planned feature had been omitted. Accusing would be along the lines of "That #### left the VC backlighting out just to spite me!" ;)
November 22, 200520 yr Sorry, but I'm done commenting on that segment. CryptoSonar on Twitch & YouTube.
November 23, 200520 yr Well guys, seems that I got the Fly! thing wrong for which I apologise. I promise you however that when I did a search in the library it only found the Fly! files but all is well now as I have just d/l the bird. I hope I like it as I wouldn't want to get told off again:-roll
November 23, 200520 yr Hello everyone. Yep, this is a very fine freeware offering. The only thing I wanted to do for my personal liking was to beef up the engine sounds. Mainly, add more bass somehow. It sounds on the thin side to me from the interior. But then again, my hearing isn't the best anyway. I wish there was a way. I tried soundforge on my PC to add more bass, without too much success. Other than that, this is a winner. Best regards, Jeff
November 23, 200520 yr LOL! How about a new FS addon software genre, called "We-Pay-You-Ware", that is - freeware developers will pay you to download their free addons to stop people #### and moaning :)Seriously though - a fantastic bird, lovely to fly and heck, I *LOVE* the way she shines in the sunshine!
November 23, 200520 yr What a GREAT addon!!!Only two things:1. I can't flip the ignition or engine start switches in vC...wonder if it's pilot error or a bug.2. Back lit gauges at night would be great!.thank you for such a great aircraft.Jason JasonFAA CPL SEL MEL IR CFI-I MEI AGI
November 23, 200520 yr Hey Jason, if you grab the start switch in VC and drag your mouse to the right, then hold it there until she starts. That's what I do. I can't stop flying her. I would like backlit gauges too, but this is such nice work, it doesn't bother me that much. Who knows, maybe there will be an update someday. Best regards, Jeff
November 23, 200520 yr Holy, and weather radar avionics to boot. Very nice package indeed. Thanks to the developers.
November 23, 200520 yr Moderator >Thanks for the reminder about raising the edge of the 3-d>window. It's most certainly needed in the 2-d landing view.>>I wasn't paying attention to the gauge backlighting--I wonder>if Cyril was pressed for time. However, I noticed the static>wicks on the ends of the wings aren't modelled in the>interior(VC) view. It makes me wonder if the Virtual>cockpit/cabin wasn't quite the version intended for release. >More likely they just didn't get cloned. On September 20th, Cyril wrote and asked me to explain VC gauge backlighting a bit more. He was especially interested in learning the newer techniques that've been developed since my little tutorial was first published. Over a period of several weeks of back-and-forth, he sent me some screenshots of the "backlighted VC" that were simply stunning!Hence my comment regarding being somewhat disappointed, as the screenshots he sent me were so nicely done! He had a wonderful combination of subtle backlighting, along with some nice highlights on the panel itself... ;)>If you do share any more communications with the team, the>only other issue I've noted is that the landing lights are>only visible in the VC and not from the 2-d panel. In FSDS 2>we have to set up a "forward view" to accomplish this. I>wonder is something similar is required for GMAX?John, the landing/taxi lights are very much visible from the 2d cockpit here. Perhaps you need to edit the VIEW_FORWARD_DIR so you aren't looking at the sky instead of the runway... ;)The 'reflections' on the inside glass are a very, very nice touch. They are quite subtle, but provide a great ambience to the interior view.As for the sounds inside the cockpit, like most FS models they are still a bit too loud... ;) Fr. November 23, 200520 yr disappointing about the backlit VC gauges but since its freeware its hard for me to complain, I will enjoy day flights with this, and maybe they might update it with backlit gauges?
November 23, 200520 yr "Sorry, but I'm done commenting on that segment."I am not done commenting. I thought about your exchange for some time before responding, and I am in line with Tom here. I believe had anyone else made the comment that Bill did, you would have taken it in a much lighter context. Simmers from all over consult with Bill on lighting issues and he has several excellent threads on the subject. I am quite sure that Bill was aware of a feature that HE THOUGHT was going to be included. And all Bill has done is point out that he is sorry it wasn't. Just as I might comment that I am sorry Chicago didn't perform "If you leave me now" at their last concert. I won't be available for the next few days, but I fully expect this tangent to be dropped and I am certain if it isn't, Tom will have a remedy.-JohnEdit:I did not see Bill's reply at the time I posted this. 'Nuff said.
