November 25, 200520 yr Are you sure this has weather capabilities? I didn't see that. Yes, you have to turn it on. The button on the weather radar actually works. Shocked when I clicked it on and low and behold weather radar.
November 25, 200520 yr For the painters out there that will be painting this plane could someone please paint this one http://www.airliners.net/open.file/928589/M/ for me?
November 25, 200520 yr I had the same two problems. To be able to engage the autopilot, you have to engage the autopilot power switch located at the bottom of the radio stack in the taller of the two 2D panels.I have still not found a way of changing the altitude level or the vertical climb/descent rate. I can press the button which changes from altitude hold level, to vertical speed and I can find the clickspots immediately above and below the relevant screen which are supposed to change the value, but clicking with either the left or the right button on the clickspots will not change the value from 0.Lovely plane, but BA use without an Auto-pilot with no altitude select function - any help appreciated.Regards
November 25, 200520 yr A great aircraft... fun to fly, probably in the list of best freeware aicraft for FS2004 by now.....

Arm and Eng. It's all covered in the manual - inside the Doc folder in the main aircraft selection. It's one of the best freeware manuals ever, so do read it.Allcott
November 25, 200520 yr The propeller only looks c.ra.p when you don't obey the rules about setting prop speed. At 1600-1700 rpm it is juts great. As for the shine, I don't have that problem with an Nvidia GeForce 6600GT card running 81.95 drivers. What card are you running?Allcott
November 25, 200520 yr If I cycle "W" three times, I get a black screen which I can remove, using the Shift-1 key... Has anyone figured out a way around that? Bert
November 25, 200520 yr I don't have the file infront of my right now, but I'll give it a try.In the TBM700 folder you will have a sub folder called "panel"In there you will have a panel.cfg file. Make a copy of the file for safe keeping. Open and edit the file, removing "(window00)" and everything below if up to but NOT includeing "(window01)". Reduce the "(windowX") below it by one-- that means change "(window01)" to "(window00", change "(window02)" to "(window01)"-- do this for the 2D windows only (you should find them towards the top of the file). Do NOT change the "vc" windows located toward the bottom of the file. This should elimate the black screen. This should work, let me know.Regards,
November 25, 200520 yr I actually tried that, but it screws up some other things...I also tried adding background_color=0,0,0to Window00... that makes the window transparent, but still not perfect.I think that having changed the Default View Y-size may possibly have caused it all.. not sure.No big deal... back to flying :-) Bert
November 26, 200520 yr Hi Everyone,The TBM 700 is certainly a unique aircraft and this model is very good freeware. I don't seem to be getting excessive "shine" from the textures with my ATI 9800 Pro, but I am using older drivers. The throttle is interesting - the torque (per the gauge) is not linear with the throttle movement. All the torque happens in the top half of the lever movement and it is very easy to over torque on takeoff. This is not a criticism - the real aircraft may very well act this way as well, just takes some extra care in monitoring torque and airspeed. The flight model is good, but I detect a bit of instability in pitch control, especially in landing configuration. It's controllable, but, at least on my setup, I can't seem to find trim that will allow me to fly hands off, or nearly so. I will experiment with some tweaks to the AIR file, and if I come up with anything promising, I'll contact the author.I hope to see some good repaints of this aircraft. It took me a couple of flights and more than one review of the manual, but everything seems to work as it should. This is a must-have for anyone who enjoys GA aircraft.Dale Dale
November 26, 200520 yr mini-review after 10 minutes of flying the TBM700 - this is a very fine freeware airplane. I have more GA payware airplanes than I'll admit to, and this is right up there with some of them.I haven't landed it yet, I haven't flown an approach with it yet, but everything has worked as well as or better than many payware products thus far.So, if you are a hardcore freeware pilot that, in a rare moment, wonders what payware brings to the table, this freeware title will give you an idea 8^) .Dave Blevins System: Asus P8Z68 Deluxe/Gen3 mobo *** i7 2700K @ 5gHz w/ Corsair H80 cooler NVidia GTX 570 OC *** 8 GB 1600 Corsair Vengeance DRAM *** CoolerMaster HAF X case System overclocked and tuned for FSX by fs-gs.com Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog stick/throttle & CH Products Pro Pedals Various GoFlight panels *** PFC avionics stack
November 26, 200520 yr Hi Ed,Curious about where you pulled that Trimble GPS from? I found one in a set of "Bond" helicopters here at Avsim but its not the same one and doesn't seem to want to work well in the VC. I'd sure appreciate you pointing me in the right direction. November 26, 200520 yr I'd have to say this model - in any livery - is just great! I'd like to thank the developers for another fab French aircraft. It's a fairly challenging thing to fly thanks to that oh so slow to spool PW, which makes approaches way on the back of the power curve very, er; "interesting" until you get used to it.I took her for a spin today and there I was cruising at 30,000' thinking "hehe, I'll bet I don't meet too many GA aircraft up here! Thanks again guys,All the bestLonelyplanetXOPS: I see the first civil repaint is now available.
