Active Sky 6-- Is it my destiny??

Featured Replies

I have FE but not AS6. I read that AS6 is a bit difficult to set up.I fall into the "Click here for pretty clouds" group, not the "Designate appendage to weather file 4.000.875 and list temperate modulations in folder 6.1" type. How easy can AS6 be made to use?

Take the plunge!! You can't go wrong. I wouln't fly without it. Cheers,Scott

Will Active Sky eliminate the sudden changes in weather that I'm getting in the stock FS9 program? One example of what I'm talking about is when approaching an airport for a landing and the weather is partly cloudy with visibility over 50 miles and then just as soon as a certain altitude is reached, the weather drastically changes to heavy fog... The fix for that alone would get me to pick up Active Sky...

Just go for it and your flying experience will never be the same again...Hence we are most of the time in the sky :-lolJust great stuff don't fly without ASV :-) or for that matter the first version till the latest...FS9 or X isn't the same without it...Have fun,Andr

I made it my first Payware add-on and I 've only had it a short time. I am convinced for 2 reasons. 1. It's everything everybody said it was.2. (And most important to me.) You will have to look hard to find better support for the product.Best regardsJan1,KINDWhen I push the button and it works, I'm happy:-)HP Media CenterPentium D 2.80 GHz2.00 GB RAMNVIDIA GeForce 6200SEConexant Falcon II NTSCXP SP2

After you recover :) from that purchase if you do not have a flight planner add-on consider FSBuild. It interfaces with recent AS versions so the weather effects on FSBs fuel planning are considered. My "operations" suite is AS6.5, FSB 2.3, Radar Contact 4.2, and my aircraft of choice in FS9, typically a PMDG 737NG or smaller turbo-prop.

BUY BUY BUY!Has anyone ever actually SEEN a bad word spoken about ActiveSky? I know I never have.I think it was my first payware product actually, and its the one I could never live without. It literally ROCKS my FS experience! And as has been stated above, the support is without a doubt the best you could hope for!I hereby make a massive shout to everyone involved in giving us the fantastic product that is....Active Sky.Regards,Al.

Hello Everyone! Thanks everyone for their words in this thread!!There have been 3 questions raised throughout:1. How hard is AS to setup and use? Setup can take a little bit of time because we do include so many different options. We include a HUGE manual that walks a person through each option, and we are around 27/7, 365 days a year, including every holiday known to man. After setup, a simple click on an icon, before running FS is all it takes. Then, everything is automatic.2. What about visibility changes? Well, that is STILL a FS issue that NOBODY has been able to solve. It is still possible to be on approach and around 10K go from clear conditions to not so good conditions in an instant. There is NOTHING more, we, or anyone else can do about this! Remember, this is not weather changing all of a sudden, but the visibility and the way that FS is hard coded.3. Is there anyone who dislikes us? Well, there is at least one person who can't stand us because we went from being freeware to payware about 4 years ago. He mostly posts at another Forum and hijacks any thread concerning Active Sky!Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/

How much of a difference is there between AS 4.5 and AS 6? I've looked everywhere on the AS site and there doesn't seem to be a special price for upgrades. I think the $40 was worth it for AS 4.5. But, $40 again for AS 6? I don't know about that. However, I do love the Active Sky and never fly without it! I highly recommend it!

Hi Rob,After AS4.5 we released ASV and offered a discount price for that. Then we designed and released ASv6. Users of ASV were Updated for free. Now we have ASv6.5 for FS04 and FSX, and users of ASV/ASv6 were Updated for free. So AS2004.5 is now 3 versions behind and we just cannot go back that far to get anyone up to date. Each of the version required much programming and are not simple Updates! We feel there is a huge difference between AS2004.5 and ASV6.5!!Thanks, Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/

Hi Jim:Thanks for the response! I have to admit that I came pretty late to the AS party. I bought 4.0 and immediately patched to 4.5. Then, it seemed that 6.0 came out a couple of months later, but I didn't see that until many months after the fact. I never saw any upgrade price, so you can imagine just how long after the release that I discovered 6.0! I wish I would have known about 6.0 because I would have waited. But, I was more aware of commercial scenery and aircraft add-ons at that time, rather than utilities. Oh well.I have made such a huge investment in FS9, that I won't be upgrading to FSX for at least a year....if at all. But, back to the original topic here. I consider AS 4.5 to be incredible and very much worth the investment! So, if I feel that way about that version, then I can only inagine what 6.5 is like. I would highly recommend anyone buying this product!Excellent work Jim!

So jim, I have ASV now. I should upgrade to 6 then 6.5 and all should be well? That would be the order and it is free.JimCYWG

Hi Jim,Yes, you should do that, two downloads and you should be all set!Happy New Year,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/

That's what I did and it worked. 6.5 is amazing.ThanksJimCYWG
