AI Traffic Sound

Featured Replies

One thing i would certainly recommend are the free sound files available for it here in the library (just search for "FSHotSFX"). They really do make a big difference, especially the Airbus CFM and IAE sounds which are excellent.Gary
Gary: How did you add them? Did you literally have to go through all of your aircraft.cfg files and manually make the changes one by one as outlined in the readme's? How long did that take you? Thanks, and smooth skies!Chuck B.

Hi ChuckTechnically yes, I'm afraid so.However, i've decided to do it in small "chunks". So far i've only done about 25 aircraft types which are those that i see most regularly at the airports i fly into - the whole 737 family and all of the smaller airbuses plus the 757/767's. No real "heavies" so far. With a couple of text edit windows open, it really doesn't take too long.As i said above, the smaller A3xx's sound particularly good and very distinctive.RegardsGary

Chuck and Gary,Thanks for the updates. I'm still using FSHotSFX as well, but I'm changing the TCASid setting in FSUIPC after I'm airborne for RC and then changing it back so the FSHotSFX will work again after I land. It's a bit of a pain.I also was going to going to download new sounds for FSHotSFX, but certain do not want to go and have to edit so many aircraft.cfg files for my AI planes.

I don't want to flog an expired equine by dragging this thread back up again, but I just wanted to share that after landing yesterday at KBOS and taxiing to the gate I stopped short of the crossing runway because I actually HEARD another aircraft taking off that wasn't in my line of view --how cool is that?? I think anyone who has had an errant plane fly right into or through you from the side can appreciate the feeling that gave me. :( Since the developer is no longer working on it, I only wish someone could acquire the rights to this program so that the little flaws it does have could be hacked or completely fixed.

Hey Chuck didn't want to drag this topic back up from the dead, but it got me remembering my days with fshotseat back when fshotsfx wasn't around. I discontinued using fshotseat when the programs ai sounds wouldn't work with a newer fsuipc, and with all the other addons I had to have a newer fsuipc. My question would be what version of fsuipc are you running fshotsfx? It was to my understanding that after a certain version the aiblast technology would stop working. Also what email were you using to contact the developer?

Wow! I can't believe I'm still subscribed to this thread! Especially considering AVSIM was hacked in the interim! I've always used the latest version of FSUIPC: right now it's 2.9 something, I think. And the email I was using was the one listed on the website and in the help files. I haven't used FSHOTFX in several months, though as I found that tweaking up the volume on my AI Sounds files was a really nice compromise solution to the combined shortcomings of FS9 and FSHotFX.

LOLI still use FSHotSFX with FSUIPC version 3.90. Wouldn't fly without it as the airports come alive.

Hi All.Just a quickie if I may.If you decide that you don't like this product, can you un-install it and all will be returned to normal, eg will everything revert back to normal without doing damage to FS9.1 ?Thanks.PS I am seriousley thinking of trying this program. One other question though, if you fly on-line with the likes of VATSIM will these new sounds in FSHotFX play the sounds while in multi player as opposed to the standard AI sounds used in multi player. or to put it in another way, will it use these new sounds instead of the default MS sound files. Many thanks.

Steve.

Unlike the British Government, I actually Learn from my Mistakes..........

Windows XP Professional SP3, ABIT IC7 MAX3 MotherBoard, Intel P4 3.40GHz HT, 4Gigs RAM, Hercules Digifire Sound Card, Geforce 7800GS 512RAM Graphics Card, FS9.1, REX, ASv6.5, GE pro.FE.

The program adds a few lines to each aircraft.cfg file for your AI aircraft. For example:[FSHS_AIBLAST]OldName=AIRBUSNewName=AIRbUSIt does make a backup of each aircraft.cfg it modifies. To remove AIBlast (the lesser of FSHotSfx), you either have to remove the lines from each modified file yourself or else delete the modified file and rename the backup file back to the original name. It's a manual task and I don't think there's an automatic way of reverting back if you decide to uninstall AIBlast.By the way, I just use AIBlast for the AI traffic sounds and not FSHotSeat which adds sounds to your cabin. And take note that both interfere with how RC4 and PFE work in that both will call AI aircraft by their aircraft number instead of airline and flight number. This will definitely sound weird and be a turnoff. This is due to AIBlast and FSHotSeat needing the TCASid variable in FSUIPC to be set to Type+ instead of the normally used Flight. I get around this for my RC4 by turning off the AI Chatter option once I takeoff from the airport and switch to departure. RC4 then only communicates with me and I just listen to FS9's default ATC talk to AI aircraft. It's a compromise that I take to hear AI aircraft sounds.I don't think either works with multiplayer aircraft on VATSIM. But I can't be 100% sure.

FSUIPC v. 4.x is for FSX -- 3.921 is now the latest for the one and only FS9, but I'm sticking with 3.8x because I'm getting some stuttering in cockpit view from later versions that I haven't been able to investigate yet. (I wasn't in front of my sim box when I wrote that.)I don't think FSHotFX even works in in FSX!

Their website and 'support' certainly claim that it will not work with FSX...

Hi, you will find no freeware AI Sounds with Spool-up or reverse sounds. There are 1 or 2 payware add ons available with AI tarffic sound incl. Spool-up sound and reverser sound (FSHotSeat). As far as I know it is very difficult to create such sounds in a fast way. You have to edit and programm a lot of things to make this work. It's not that easy
What is the other payware addon for AI traffic sound? Is it FSHotSFX?
