Where do you prefer to fly and why?

Featured Replies

I'm mostly flying in Scandinavia ATM, which is pretty well covered scenery wise. I'm flying both GA and short hops in jets and turboprops. I'm looking to expand my "horizon" a bit and would appreciate some input. Is your preferred area well covered with scenery or is there some interesting or challenging to it.-Peter

I mostly mimic commercial domestic flights in NALA using Flightaware as my starting point. Terrain isn't as important to me as airport realism, so I rely on AES and payware add-on fields from various vendors.

MFS means mostly heavy metal to me. I can fly GA in real life but I'm not an airliner pilot, so it's a good chance to play one. :( I do most of my flights in Europe, maybe because I'm European. I find myself flying from, in and to Germany most often. I think it is the best covered area in the terms of addons. And they are high quality so visiting them is pure pleasure.Choosing and airport I must have a good addon version of it (usually payware with some exceptions) and preferably AESed.Sometimes I fly long hauls from European megahubs (EDDF, EGLL, LFPG, LOWW) to North America or Asia. When I have a lot of free time and good mood, I love flying online with VATSIM. That's an extra thrill! But due to my life duties and unpredictability, I've been flying mostly offline lately. To enjoy my flight, however, I must prepare a flight, fill in my flight form, download real weather and set real time.Plan fuel use, make a good flightplan with current navdata and off I go.For the last two months I have been rediscovering the world of VC and TrackIR flying.I fell in love with it after I bought and tried the well discounted Cpt Sim 757 for FS9. Its virtual cockpit is just great. But last night I simply had enough (my neck is dying) and have just completed a short flight (EDDH-EDDF) in the 2D environment again.Ok, that's mostly and shortly it, if you ask me.Have a nice Sunday!

Thanks for the input, both of you.A few questions though. Where is NALA, doesn't seem to be an ICAO code or city name? And you both mention AES, is that Airport Enhancement service from Aerosoft?I like planning my flights as well. I have recently bought the MD11 from PMDG, a really nice plane, though a bit modern compared to the jets I normally use. (Tinmouse 732, AFG Caravelle, Leonardo MD80) It flies very well, but is a beast to land. That's nice I like a challenge. I'm very impressed with the MD11, it's appears to be very well modelled with regards to systems, it's a lot deeper than I expected. And it seems to work very well as a short hauler, even though it's a long distance plane, though a bit big for many of the airports I usually fly to.Ihave looked some of the german sceneries availibe, a really impressive amount of scenery, definately worth a closer look.-Peter

I fly a lot in Europe and North America. I fly there because that's where I have the most scenery of. When I fly GA planes it's a lot of private jets and the occasional turbo prop. When I fly the airliners I don't fly anything bigger that the 757.

For the VA I'm a member off(TOM) I fly in Europe, mostly Greek holiday destinations like Kerkira,Kos,Samos etc.For me,I fly in Brazil,I love the short hop betweenSao Paulo Congonhas and Rio de Janeiro Santos Dumont.Have bought Wonderfull Rio for it and scenery for Sao Paulo as well, and due the "difficult" Kai Tak stylee approach at SBRJ it'seasily my favorite run.Really nice with a 737-700 or 737-300.JP.

Hello Peter, i personally like to fly around europe, based at egkk/egll i like to fly to holiday destinations around the med, spain, italy, greece, france and so on. We go on holiday once a year and i like to recreate our flights on the simulator, some may find this sad but thats the enjoyment i get from it. As for scenery its mainly aerosoft airports with aes and various stuff like ut,ge pro and asa that make it realistic for me.In a nutshell this is what my fs experience is all about for me with of coarse the fantastic aircraft available for fs that i would fly on in real life. So thats my input now i must go, been cleared to line up for 08r at egkk in a loaded a320 bound for beautifull chania lgsa in crete!!Chris

In FS9 I fly heavy metal, mostly KLM and from Schiphol to KLM destinations (lot of caribbean, europe, USA). I fly the PMDG 747, 737, PSS/POSKY 777, Wilco 737, Airbus series. And in FSX I do a lot of GA (including soaring) and military flying.

I like to fly to where the New is. That is to say, I Fly the PMDG 747, and simulate flying Emergency personel or Humanitarian Relief Personal to Areas of Strife due to natural or other disasters. Right now I am Flying personal from various fire centers to affected areas of California to fight the fires. This sometimes can be a bit complicated, as I use Google earth to find the nearest airport to the area I want to go to. Then check my scenery library for istallation of that airport, or download a nice version of that airport and install it. Then on to afcad to get myself a gate. From there I go to Flight Aware, or other Route Planning site, and get a flight plan set up. Load up the plane with fuel, cargo, and passengers and go flying.Sometimes takes a while to get in the air, but I find I get a lot of new scenery, and have some pretty interesting flights that way. I may just be jetting around the US, or be off to Indonesia to bring relief to tsunami victums, or help with cleanup efforts. When there is no news to fly to, I charter from some big city to some exotic vacation destination. Not 100% realistic, but it keeps me flying, and some of the airports I fly to require me to bone up on some flying skills as some of them barely meet absolute minimum requirements for a 747.I also like the fact that I am not restricted to a set schedule that flying a regular route would entail. You asked I answered.John

Since SubLogic's ATP I've mimicked the flights of the Montreal Canadiens hockey club. In the offseason I fly to mostly North American destinations. I have fleet of 5 jets and 5 props, I really should get over to see the other side of the fs9 world. I've spent almost all my time in North and South America. Been to Antarctica a couple of times and did a round the world trip a couple of times too. Gotta love simming!

Hello,Q :Where do you prefer to fly ?A : Over the desert (any) with blue sky in a simple freeware plane (preferably DXT3 textures and no VC)Q : Why ?A : Cause my hardware.26253307.gifRegards.bye.gifGus.

I prefer to fly around Japan. I fly a lot of routes out of RJCC and RJSK in the Tohoku area of Japan. I also fly a lot to Seoul, Korea out of RJSK. I fly the domestic routes only with ANA's 737s, 767s, and 747s, and international with Korea Air and ANA.I stick around Japan because it's in my backyard. RJSK is the nearest airport to my house. I love to plane spot on the weekends, though not always that busy. I've flown Korean Air to Seoul a few times out of this airport and always enjoy the flight. As far as New Chitose RJCC... Hokkaido is my favorite place to visit in Japan and RJCC is a beautiful and active airport. :( I think I have more sceneries and airports purchased and downloaded for Japan than any other place. haha :(

I apologize for the acronym. NALA == North America/Latin America similar to how EMEA = Europe/Middle East/Asia.AES is indeed Aerosoft's magical Airport Enhancement Services (well worth the investment for add-on airports)

Lately...France. There are a whole bunch of freeware grass fields that are just a blast to land on. There are a couple of links below for anyone that's interested and there are a lot more of this quality available too :)MarkChristian Dupriezhttp://pagesperso-orange.fr/christian.dupriez/Emmanuel Parothttp://www.emmanuelparot.fr/creuse2008_fr.htm

Thanks el_kab0ng, now I get it. I have just downloaded AES and it seems to pretty awesome. Some nice Ideas here, Lots of stuff to try out, and some nice approaches to it.
