Where do you prefer to fly and why?

Featured Replies

The U.S., inlcuding AK and HI. Why? Because I have all the maps and terminal procedures on paper, plus I can obtain real flight plans without issue.

Hi,I fly mostly in Northern Europe or the UK - mostly in Finland. This is partly due to my real life situation of being half Finnish and living in Scotland, so I know these places and also because of the very good range of freeware scenery available (see FSNordic.net but I suspect you'll already know it)...Also, I have made a large number of flights in this area as part of the (currently closed) virtual airline (Blue1VA).Geoff

I, too, usually fly in Europe (usually flying KLM), or the Middle East (In that case it's either Arkia or El Al). I do short hops between cities in Europe, or longer flights between cities, dpends on where I start and where I want to go. Sometimes I'll do a very long flight: once I flew from Madrid, Spain, all the way to Santiago de Chile, Chile. I plan to fly to Surinam from Schiphol, and from to St. Maarten from Schiphol. I want to mimic these flight to small airports with Boeing 747s (the former with SLM's 747-300, the latter with a KLM 747-400). For the rest you'll mostly see me flying Boeing 737s because that's m favorite aircraft.Although I tend to fly KLM and El Al, I'll also fly with liveries of companies that happen to fly to the country I'm visiting. So, if I go to Vienna, I'll take an Austrian Airlines plane. A few flights ago, I went from Turkey to Prague, so I took an airplane from CSA.

I like to fly from major airports to airports in holiday destinations. I do a lot of hops from the US to the Caribbean, Mexico or Central America. I also like to fly from northern Europe to Spain, Greece or Israel. What I am trying to decide on a flight, I usually pick an origin that has add on scenery with AES and interesting weather. The destination just needs nice blue water and some good scenery.I guess it makes me feel like I'm going on a vacation or something.

I usually fly around southeastern US and the carib as its great flying for VFR GA and I have many addon airports around there (mynn, keyw, tncm, tjsj, kmia, etc). I also do a lot of local flying from my RL local airport (n87) and fly GA VFR toward phili or NYC.

Short Hauls within Europe, Japan and USA. The odd Carribean or Asian flight. Why??? AES and AES Alone..!!! :( :( :(

Time constraints mean most of my flying is done in and around Ireland and Scotland (you can fly to most Irish airports from Dublin in 40 minutes or so), and for longer flights (i.e. if i have about 90 minutes to spare) between Ireland and The UK. The longest routes I fly are the ones I fly regularly in real life, namely Charleroi-Dublin, Charleroi-Shannon and Amsterdam-Dublin. There's great freeware scenery available for all these routes. I fly mainly in the PIC737 (Aer Lingus livery), Airbus A319 (Easyjet) and several Caranado planes. Since I discovered I can land a heavy 737 at every major Irish airport including Donegal, Galway and Sligo, my flying skills have improved tremendously. There's nothing better than a landing in heavy rain and wind at an airport with houses or sea at either end of the runway (and that's a manual hand-flown landing, none of your autopilot nonsense - I'm hardcore!)

Sebgevers, sounds like great fun! The Wilco 737 is a great plane, isn't it. I enjoy it greatly, anyway. I also undersrand your problem with time, have the same problem. That's why long haul flights I can only do with planes that hav e the option to save the entire panel. So, that's either the Level-D 767 or the default planes (don't have the PMDG 747).

I like the Philippines because there's lots of over water approaches, volcano's (dormant), and islands to view. I also like Brazil. SBSP and SBRJ in particular. Both have challenging approaches and nice scenery to distract you with on FA. Both are close to international airports so SID's and STAR's are to be adhered to strictly. Finally, I fly CYYC to CYVR just for the beautiful approaches to CYVR over the rockies. Ultimate Terrain and FSG Mesh make it simply beautiful.

Well, my flights are usually between Bogot

My favourite destinations are short-hauls done in Indonesia and the other parts of Southeast Asia. I'd love to go see South America and Europe, but I just can't find the perfect scenery to make the flights there more enjoyable.

Europe, but I just can't find the perfect scenery to make the flights there more enjoyable.
Hard to believe as this is the best and most fully made part of the FS world...

Southern Ontario, where I do my real-world flight training. Made all the more enjoyable with Flight Ontario's excellent freeware scenery (along with REX, ASA and Multi-Crew Experience).
