Guys do you think I should go to Win 7 64bit with my setup (see sig)

Your processor can handle Win7 64 but you need to check if your mobo has Win7 64 drivers available. Your RAM I would suggest be increased to

4Gb minimum, more if you are able, again you need to check your motherboard to see if it has any memory limitations. Graphics should be OK

but must confess I have no experience of ATI cards. HD size is OK, but if you are going to be using a lot of different sceneries, you could find

it full pretty soon unless you have a secondary HD installed. Bottom line you could run Win7 64 in your rig as is providing Mobo has relevant drivers.

HELP ME I'M GOING CRAZY!!!

I have WIN 7 64 BIT SP1 Ihave FS 9 AND FSX all my settings and scenery and aircraft are dissappearing I had to do a reinstall

Icleaned the disks and when I go through everything was there a week later half the east coast was gone from NY TO SC and

when I set my keys on my joystick come out reversed now my aircraft are dissappearing.{ AND NO I'M NOT SMOKING CRACK}

I have two sets of disks and both sets come out the same NY just wiped out you cannot fly there or set up a flight. AND on the

other hand FSX is working normal with the exception of theFLIGHT DYNAMICS OF THE BELL'S and when you add a aircraft

especially the ones painted by MARK "FIREBALL''ROOKS there are no textures he said he built them before but new ac don't

show up right.I'm LOOSING MY BLOODY MIND HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have FS9 & FSX with WIN 7 I recently had to reinstall FS9 all my east coast default scenery just dissappeard everything

from NY TO SC any ideas this is the second time this has happened!!!

Hey all you technical experts out there,

 

After having succeded in transferring my hugely extended FS9 from a WindowsXP 32 setup to my new machine with Windows7 Prof 64, I ran up against quite some unexpected problems, especially with my supporting programs, many of which needed digging up out of very old backups and re-installation, etc. etc.

 

As far as I can now see I've succeded in getting them all working again but with one single exception and that is the FS2004 SDK (re-)compilation process which uses "Bglcomp.exe" for compiling XML --> BGL files. It keeps terminating with fatal "Internal errors", no matter how simple the input XML file was. It doesn't seem to like Widows7 or vica versa.

 

The BGL disassembler "BglAnalyze9.exe" seems to (still) work without problems.

 

Can anyone point my nose in the right direction ....... please.

I have mine installed in the Programs Files (x86) folder and it works fine. Win 7 64 bit.

The only problem I've had with Win7 64bit is missing airfields on my VFR photographic Scenery! I have AI aircraft taking off and landing but the actual airfield is missing, The AFCAD is in Addon scenery folder and airfield and runway heights are correct but certain downloaded and constructed airfields are conspicuous by their absence, its almost looks as if the airfield is covered by an exclusion zone. Deleting the AFCAD and constucting a new one has no effect.

Any ideas anyone?

Wondering if I might be able to get some input on a surprising issues.I have long made missions and AI traffic BGL files which I would place in folders with a sub-folder named "scenery" and then would path to that folder in the FSX Scenery Library, left click once on that folder, and when hitting the OK button, the scenery would load to the library and the folder name would appear at the top of the Scenery Library list.However, two people I sent my latest package to have said that using Win 7 when they performed that click of the OK button, instead of loading the BGL files to the library, instead, it went a step deeper into the folder and just opened it up to show the scenery sub-folder. When they then left clicked on the scenery sub-folder, it did not recognize the presence of the BGL files.When they single left click on the project folder, the Scenery Area cell is filed with the name of the folder, so it appears that FSX recognizes the presence of the BGL files in the sub-folder, but again, when the OK button is clicked, it simply paths deeper down to the sub-folder.Any ideas?Ken

 

At present I am using FS 2004, but I expect it is also the same for FSX.

One of the strange quirks of Windows 7 involves adding scenery to the add-on scenery list...

Having made a new "named" folder for your scenery, and inserted another folder within it named; "scenery", containing the new .bgl file(s).

Add the completed folder to the Add-on Scenery Folder.

From the Main Sim Menu select the "Scenery" option.

Search for your new scenery folder....Add Scenery...

Click ONCE on the desired folder....then click once on a blank space within the opened window...

....the new file will now appear at the top on the scenery list!

Without clicking on that blank space the new scenery will not be added to the list!...

 

....that's Windows 7 for you... :Whistle: ....!

Now that I have the Windows 7 Upgrade I cant get to my tool bar options on my PMDG 747-400 or on my PMDG 737NG. Can someone please help?? Thanks......;)

This is a very old entry that I am using right now. So, I don't know if you still experience difficulties with your PMDG products.

A VERY helpful hint that you can give me would be the precise o/s version that you are using.

Windows 7 Home Premium 32 Bit, or what are you using?

 

Edit: And I agree with Paul (Fozzer), You can't compare your simulator with the one that your neighbor is using, even if the sim version is exactly the same (Fsx Gold Edition, or still fs 9.1?). We have to precisely know, which o/s version do you use with how many MBytes of RAM?

 

I have not yet used fsx scenery that did not come with an installer. But since the year 2004 I was using every kind of addOns for fs9 you can imagine, payware mesh, landclass, payware a/c, liveries and much more.

If you've experienced the whole fs9 world, it's quite easy to also optimize fsx.

 

It's not important which folder you use, you only have to remember which folder you use! :-)
