"Irony", given your comments on the hacking incident I have my doubts about the sincerity of your contributions to this thread. I suggest people read your post on the hacking incident then your attempt to bait Tom and the others some time later. Aside from those two posts and your two in this thread, I've not seen you contribute one thing to these community forums. Why is that I have to wonder?Common sense since the dawn of spam says hitting "unsubscribe" validates an email address when it comes to UNSOLICITED spam. By doing so you may indeed remove yourself from one list and end up on twenty others. I do unsubscribe when I get excessive email from a vendor I have done business with because I know they've obtained my email address by having done business with me. Simfly.eu did not do business with me. Regardless of how I respond to their emails, they are still wrong. I am sure those who did risk clicking the unsubscribe link clicked it "right".

Starting to wonder about this guy myself. You're not passing my smell test Irony.

I pressed the link to unsubscribe in the December newsletter and it took me to simfly.eu homepage. There was a message at the top that read "SUCCESS, we have noted your request and this will be actioned as soon as possible, please do not resubmit this information as it could cause you to be listed once again." Let's see what happens.

I agree - Irony's posts smell fishy to me too.....

I've been getting two emails from them, one to my current address used for Avsim and another via an email address I used to register at Avsim some years ago. Since the second address is also one of my "spam" bait addresses, I decided to click "unsubscribe" and received this wonderful message (note I blocked out my email address):I don't know what their "security requirements" are, nor do I care. Maybe some here, those who seem to participate only in Simfly or hacking threads and join the forums the minute such threads come on the radar, will argue that I didn't click with enough "finesse".

I believe you have to press the left mouse button with precisely 0.9283 ft/lbs of force, and hold it down for no more than 0.23 seconds to achive success, John... :(

Finally, some good news in their new spam :( Let's hope it's true and that Phil never recovers!

From: "SimFly.EU Team" <[email protected]>We have had some terrible news. Phil the guy that founded and has done pretty much all the technical work on SimFly.EU has suffered a very serious heart attack and it’s going to be a while before hes back in action. In the meantime the moderators can keep things going and Phil has already provided me with all the details I need to keep things going but due to our limited knowledge of the deeply technical system we will have to pay a programmer to do the necessary bug fixes that need to be done. I know its Christmas guys but unless we can get enough money to fund the technicians fee simfly will have no choice but to close its doors. I will keep you updated on this condition as I find out any more information How to Contribute You can contribute either by buying a product pack from the SimFly.EU Shop or you can send a direct payment to [email protected] - Phil has granted me full access to the accounts so that I can pay all the bills and recruit an accredited programmer whilst he recovers. Many ThanksGareth EvansSimFly.EU Teamhttp://www.simfly.eu

I think that might be a little much. I loath that guy as much as the next person, but I'd rather see his attempts at spamming fail rather than his health.

I'm with you Jeremy. There's something about expecting or applauding harm to someone that is loathsome, especially on Christmas day. Obviously some don't celebrate the holiday here, but there's a higher moral code I feel we should all aspire to regardless of our beliefs, age, or life experience.Regards,John

I don't wish a heart attack on anyone, but with that said, I just received another spam from this place a few days ago and I really hope they go away now, permanently. :(

I get spam 5-10 times a day. Our information is out there for the taking. Not too long ago after the pace really picked up, I learned to quit complaining. If we don't want spam, then we have to either find the perfect world to live in or not use the web at all. I don't like getting spam, and I also don't like getting tailgated when I drive when the passing lane is open to the person doing the tailgating. I still have to drive, and the web has become an indispensable part of our lives. I don't want to get mugged, but I still have to take my family to where they need to go. I haven't figured out how to ban all muggers, but I have figured out how to quit worrying about it.In the case of spam or anything else, there's filters we can apply. If they don't work, try to mentally filter out what they do, you'll feel better for it.Regards,John

They didn't collect our information "out there", but used email addresses stolen from AVSIM forums. They continue using these same addresses for spamming even after complaints, and any complaint on their forum about these practices gets deleted. So it isn't a random unrequested advertisement you find in your mailbox. It is rather the case of someone beating up your mom, stealing her mobile phone with contacts and then repeatedly calling all these contacts either selling products, or simply begging for money. I certainly hope the guy dies soon, but I am afraid the "heart attack" is just another lie from them to extract just more money from the users.
