Anyone still getting spammed by simfly.eu?

Featured Replies

I got the October Newsletter as well. I sent an email titled "Unsolicited email from Simfly.eu, again" to their support address. It went as follows:Hello there, Is has been a while since I received any email from you, after having used the unsubscribe feature on several occasions in the past. Unfortunately, I received the October Newsletter today and I'm not happy about it at all. I never subscribed in the first place, not now, not back then. So why did I get the October Newsletter? One would think that after previous well documented incidents, you would refrain from ever sending out unsolicited email again. Especially when it concerns users who have repeatedly used the unsubscribe feature in the past. I have now used the unsubscribe feature once more, let's hope I never receive another unsolicited email from you again. You may of course respond to this message, for example with an apology... Kind regards, Mike...I received a prompt reply to that, as follows:Hello,Our unsubscribe process has in the past been faulty and not worked, you will of found when you clicked it on this occasion you were given confirmation at the top of the screen, and as such your address will be exempt from any further mailings from SimFly.EU. Kindest Regards,SimFly.EU Supporthttp://www.simfly.eu --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Private & Confidential: The text, images, attachments in this email are only for the recipient of the email. The contents of this email remains the property of SimFly.EU and the Sender, duplication, or making available of emailed information is a reserved right, should you wish to re-use any information written permission must be gained. This email is not legally binding, nor are its contents necessarily the official views of SimFly.EU.Which is a somewhat different take on it than what was presented here: "Click the bloody unsubscribe link and you will never have a problem again, because when you do that, the DB entry is deleted, instantly......".Anyway, I unsubscribed and did receive a clear message that it succeeded. I'm only mildly optimistic about it.Suffice it say I do not consider myself to be legally binded by any email legal disclaimer. The legal status of which is dubious, at best.

I remember that post and how annoyed I was when I read it. Mike, I also noticed that their reply did not contain any apology for sending you mail you didn't want or indeed ask for. Something tells me they don't care how we got on the list and insist that the onus is on us to 'unsubscribe'. I am considering contacting the ICO here in the UK as this one one form of spam that can at least be dealt with(http://www.ico.gov.uk/complaints/privacy_a...unications.aspx):
Electronic mail marketing messages should not be sent to individuals without their permission unless all these following criteria are met: 1.The marketer has obtained your details through a sale or negotiations for a sale. 2.The messages are about similar products or services offered by the sender. 3.You were given an opportunity to refuse the marketing when your details were collected and, if you did not refuse, you were given a simple way to opt out in every future communication. We may be able to help if: 1.you have received an electronic mail marketing message which you did not ask for or which does not otherwise comply with the above criteria; 2.the sender is based in the UK; and 3.you can identify the sender.

I too have received the newsletter last Sunday. It contained the following cryptic informationQuote"Management ChangeMany of our valued users will be aware that we have recently had a change of management structure within SimFly.EU - This change will remove lots of hindrances that were previously preventing progress and allows to move forth with new ideas and plans without the limitations previously imposed upon us.Over the next couple of months we will be introducing specific team members and groups to deal with aspects of running the site, keep your eyes pealed on the events section of the site to put your name forward for any positions you may be interested in." End of quoteWolfgang

Thanks for sharing that with us, Mike. They are just working against themselves.

They're not very good at spelling, are they?Colin

Seems like they really aren't.Instead of sending out spam emails, they should either use a spell checker software or double check what they write before they hit "Send" or "Add Reply."

This bothers me, I don't trust these people, and I'm starting to suspect that it may be time to alert law enforcement.

As for me, I never respond in any way to such spam - that only confirms to them that your e-mail address is valid.I just add them to my blocked senders list (an option in my e-mail client) - works like a charm.

That worked for me too David. I am also fairly sure "word of mouth" will do what the lawyers can't. It's said what we do online is not only seen by our peer groups, such as this one, but also by our present and future employers. Regards,John

While I agree with you that in general is it a bad idea to respond to spam in any way, this case might just be a little different.I can only say that I have not received another email from them after I unsubscribed and contacted them last month, see earlier on in this thread. Perhaps their unsubscribe feature is really woking now. Now, if only they'd work on their subscribe methodology...:(
