Oh, can you please stop nagging about FS9? The performance issues are just bull, as long as you have more than one core: FSX SP1 and later are quite well optimized for multicore systems. I change when I noticed that my old Core2 duo system was smoother in FSX than FS9 with some envriomental add-ons.Airliners work perfect in FSX. The MD-11 being my favorite.PMDG, looking forward to the dash!Best regards,Mikkel E.

I agree MikkelI have a single core AMD 4000 with a good AGP(!) graphics card and I run bothThe 747 and the MD11 without any problems. My setup is carefully edited which means that I cut outcars and most AI aircraft.but my scenery is fairly well up without any problems. The main thing is that both aircraft work very well and I get a good smooth performance.Apart from the UK photographic scenery (which gives better frame rates than the default!)I only have real UK airports added.David

Of course I'd like the NG for FS9 as well but only because the weather has been sorted out on that platform. If a breakthrough in FSX weather would be forthcoming I'd reconsider though.Don't get me wrong I like both platforms for different reasons but if the marketing decision is made then so be it, always the 'classic' to drop back to if needs be.As for the Dash. not particularly my cup of tea but yeah, of course I'll buy it.... one day I might see my my desire of a Bae146 in whatever version, till then I'll take whatever is offered lol.John Ellison

Just a quick question:will NG for FSX have 2D panels as well?I really hope so..... :( Nick
Yup, it will. :(

+1 FSX runs great on my 2 year old Q6600/8800GT.FS9 users should stop asking PMDG to effectively perform an act of charity by developing a FS9 version.PMDG have already said that FS9 product sales have taken a nose dive over the last 6 months.FS9 is dead so no more PMDG FS9 products, they're running a business remember.

FS9 is dead so no more PMDG FS9 products
Really?

Erik L.

Really?
Yes really. What do you think most of this thread is about?
While we certainly have a large number of customers still supporting FS9, the global sales of FS9 products have fallen off a cliff during the past six months, so we need to constantly evaluate the trends. If we see that FS9 customers are still supporting the sale of FS9 products financially (and not just verbally) then you can expect an FS9 version.
Sales of FS9 products have "fallen off a cliff" during the last 6 months. Why? Most FS9 users are switching to FSX. Why would PMDG waste money developing for FS9? How much fewer sales will their be in 6 months time, practically none?Like he implies, FS9 users on this forum are very "verbal" but the sales are just not there.Anyway, PMDG knows their market and I bet you will never see the NGX for FS9! Long live PMDG and FSX. FS9... just a distant memory!edit: Of course this is all IMHO :(

http://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?s=&...t&p=1660629Direct contradiction.Yes, FSX is a superior platform, but many people have enough money invested in FS9, that upgrading to FSX simple makes zero economic sense. There will always be people who still use FS9. Heck, I know people who still use FS2002.
It seems like all the FS9'ers are not prepared to spend money but instead expect PMDG spend money developing for FS9 to only realise a small ROI (or possibly negative ROI) for their efforts.PMDG will make the decision based on what's best for their business and not how many FS9'ers cry poor.I still say you will never see the NGX for FS9, IMHO.

Read Bert's post. A credible source said that vendors are reporting 50/50 FSX/FS9 sales for the European market. If the VATSIM/IVAO stats for Europe have anything to do with the amount of local FSers, then that alone is a huge market. If that doesn't make economic sense, I don't know what does.

Best ROI is what makes economic sense for a business. If the ROI is far greater for FSX products than for FS9 then it makes sense to focus on FSX products only. You can't buy FS9 anywhere. Hence FS9 is a shrinking market. Sure you could download a pirate copy of FS9 but then are those users going to purchase PMDG FS9 products... no way!FSX can still be bought in retail stores, hence I would expect its a far bigger market than FS9 will ever be.I wonder how many of those FS9'ers on VATSIM/IVAO have legit copies anyway?PMDG is it's own vendor. I think it's best judge of how its products will sell. They already said months ago that FSX sales of MD11 outsold the FS9 version by 3 to 1.

Matthew S

Just an idea but.... Maybe PMDG could have a preorder system for the FS9 NGX. You pay in advance for the FS9 version and if a critical mass of purchasers is reached (say 1000 users?) before orders close (say within 1 month) then PMDG develops the product for FS9, otherwise they refund the money. This let FS9'ers "put their money where their mouth is" :( Its then a no risk proposition for PMDG to develop the FS9 version since they are guaranteed a known return.edit: Its also a no risk proposition for purchasers since PMDG's reputation for quality is unquestioned. Additionally FS9'ers who want to support PMDG even more can purchase multiple copies. Maybe they could have a chart on the NGX web page showing how many preorders have been received to encourage multiple purchases as the close off date approaches.

One thing i can give for certain! My support to FS9 version will be finantial too! :) Even tho my computer can run FSX smoothly i still enjoy a lot FS9 because of the addons i dont have in FSX for my home country.Cheers

Gentlemen-Enough with the FSX vs FS9 discussion, please. When we elect to decide, the decision will be made based upon financial information. This information is collected by us, directly from our site, and in conjunction with our European partners, Aerosoft. The decision will not be made based upon information from within this forum, individual opinions, water witching, black magic, hypothetical conditions or emotional appeals. The bottom line is financial, and while it seems that many opinions get voiced here in favor of one position or another- they never come close to the data we collect directly. So please, lets not invest time getting one another cranked up over a decision that will be made at some point in the future based upon years of collected trend data being probed, controlled for current and historic market conditions and statistically analyzed to reach a conclusion.

Joe-

Read Bert's post. A credible source said that vendors are reporting 50/50 FSX/FS9 sales for the European market. If the VATSIM/IVAO stats for Europe have anything to do with the amount of local FSers, then that alone is a huge market. If that doesn't make economic sense, I don't know what does.
The thing about data is: It has to be used within context. We have access to a significant amount of data on European sales, and they aren't anywhere close to 50/50 ***in the segment of the market that deals with PMDG.***This bring me to the point I made in my previous post: The only data that matters to us in this decision is the data we collect from our own site and from our partnership with Aerosoft. While Bert might posit that there is a 50/50 market split, I assert that whomever gave him that data isn't selling to the same market segment as PMDG. I have had the good fortune to spend some time with Bert (finally, after many years of email exchange!) and while I hold him in high regard I simply cannot use data that is essentially hypothetical to our market. Our market information is available to me and is valid to the second. I can see trend lines based upon sales up to 1 second ago- and these trend lines tell us precisely what our customers are asking for in the marketplace. It is this data that we use for decision making. We have ignored this data on a few occasions and found that it would have been better to believe the data...So folks- everyone has an opinion on this topic- but the decision maker will be the data. Bottom Line: We are a for-profit-entity, so I assure you that if profits can be made with an FS9 product, we will produce it.
