Some General Updates

Thanks, Captain, for the updates. I hate to ask (for fear of opening up an entirely new can of worms) but can you provide us with any info on the A320 program? Many thanks,Ron Priever
I hope surreptitious advertising is not frowned upon here :( http://airsimmer.comI think their project was the reason why the PMDG A320 was put on ice, IIRC! Probably they still have it in their plans but I doubt it since AirSimmer is already in a pretty advanced stage, shouldn't be too long until it's out.

Hey Robert,Does the Best Buy deal include stores in the Great White North? Brent :(

After the release of the JS4100 and MD-11 (amazing) you can count on me to continue to support your upcoming products!! I can't wait, keep up the good work PMDG!!-Joshua Reser

That was a nice update. I might actually go buy the PMDG 747x from bestbuy so then I have a CD version of it. I completely forgot about the dash 8 but it sounds like its actually farther along that the 737. I seriously can't wait for the 737. I think about it every day.Taylor Oldham

Thank you for the update, Robert.Hopefully everything goes well with the BestBuy marketing.Keep up the great work PMDG!Regards,

Congratulations PMDG! As for dropping FS9 support, well you're running a business and if FS9 just doesn't sell well anymore then what else can you do but drop support for that platform. All things pass and maybe FS9 will never truly die but surely must now "just fade away".

Although there is still a fair amount of development in the form of scenery and aircraft going on for FS9 as a platform, the sun is slowly beginning to set. It is only natural that a company, whose business it is to sell as many units of their products as they can, will develop predominantly for the platform that will generate the greater number of sales. This now appears to be FSX.Regardless of the numbers of people who still use FS9, even if only occasionally, most new sales are FSX (there are many more FSX copies available to retailers than of FS9). And we must remember that only a percentage of FS users actually use the fora actively. I would not wish to guess exactly what that percentage is, but I would be surprised if the numbers of active users are higher than 50% of FS sales...It is fairly simple. The company will do a cost effectiveness calculation to see if the cost associated with developing a product for the older platform is going to be less than the sales volume or profit generated. If not, then the company should leave it at that and develop only for the platform for which the return is going to be higher. Simple economics at work. PMDG, or any other FS developer of payware for that matter, is not a charity. They have mouths to feed, just like the rest of us...I for one, would like to see the NGX for FS9, but will live with it and accept the decision, if PMDG decides not to develop for FS9. It is, and always was their call, and they are entitled to change their minds... something I believe is often forgotten here...Andrew

This is great news. Almost. Reading between the lines it

Captains-PMDG 737NG2=========There have been a number of threads asking whether we intend to support FS9 with the NG2 product. The last time we evaluated platform support was over two years ago- and it was decided at that time to support both FSX and FS9. We have made no further evaluation or decisions on the topic, and will continue to monitor the marketplace. We DO know that the FSX version will be first to market and that we will evaluate the state of FS9 product sales as we near release of the FSX version. While we certainly have a large number of customers still supporting FS9, the global sales of FS9 products have fallen off a cliff during the past six months, so we need to constantly evaluate the trends. If we see that FS9 customers are still supporting the sale of FS9 products financially (and not just verbally) then you can expect an FS9 version.
My fingers cross, that there will be an FS9 version also. (I am one though, that still purchase FS9 addon...last 2 weeks, 2 airports and 2 FSscene)/Leffe

I sure wish you guys would fix the few small remaining errors on the MD-11. The EVM bug, thrust problem, and other issues that have been raised. None of them seem to be that hard of a fix for a near perfect plane. :-(

Pieter-We have not decided on this as yet. The artifacts are localized to certain users- and generally speaking seem to appear in conditions where the simulator is heavily loaded. Dialing down the detail level (either in our model, or in the scenery/traffic/app demand) appears to be the fix.I an trigger them on my (very heavyweight) development rig- but I can make them disappear just as easily by unburdening the sim a bit.As I mentioned - we are still debating how we want to address it...
.... hm ... Your solution to this Robert does not seem to be the only one..... Using the Nhancer software to adjust my driver settings for my Nvidia card, I can make the artifacts disapear if I use 3 times (or more) Supersampling (anti-aliasing) ....but this is a real "framratekiller" ...though the artifacts will disapear .All the best - Jesper,Denmark

I'm looking forward to this baby. Since it is rather difficult to burn the engine on the Q400 how about a randomly collapsing/failing landing gear?Batting%20Eyelashes.gifAugsburg Airways:q400-muc.jpgAll Nippon Airways:

Dear RobertThanks for the update, keep them jets comming.Best regardsPalle H. Jensen

I am disappointed that there may be no NG2.0 for FS9. I for one, am still an avid FS9er and I simply can't afford to upgrade to a computer that will give me satisfactory performance in FSX with addon aircraft. All of my addon purchases in the past few months have been for FS9 (Level-D, Aerosoft Seahawk), and I will buy the FS9 version of the 744 if it will help boost FS9 sales (Hey, the price is lower :( ). I know many eye-candy features will be dropped from any FS9 version out there, however I, and I would like to think many other serious simmers, wouldn't care about that at all. I would like to see a highly realistic 737, that works like the real deal, not one that looks like the real deal. That is what sets PMDG apart from the rest of the pack: Dual platform, and the systems programming is near perfect.

When there is a flash game dedicated to that wonderful feature of the Dash-8, you know PMDG is going to have to model it.http://www.dr.dk/spil/dashncrash/#simulator
