PMDG J41 vs. FeelThere ERJ 135/145

Featured Replies

I have the PMDG J41 and really enjoy it. It is a bit rough on frame rates but still acceptable. The virtual cockpit is a work of art, and it's a blast to fly. Here's my question. I'm interested in purchasing the ERJ 135/145. For those of you who have both in your stable, how would you say the two compare in performance, frame rates, reality of flight model and apprearance? The J41 has set a standard for me, so I'd like to use it as a basis of comparison. Thanks,Mark R. Shutock

I have both and fly them from time to time. The PMDG is second to none as far as systems implementaion and complexity. The Feel There ERJ is much better on frames for me and that makes it my reginal plane of choice. They both have beautiful Virtual cockpits and both are highley detailed visual models. I can't pick a winner here since they both look exceptional. It all a matter of choice, but you can't go wrong with either.Rob

Would go with the feelThere ERJ. Lots of real-real world paints and a great VC! Framerates are good and systems aren't bad either.

I have both, and they're both very good. In terms of VC quality, flight dynamics, FMS and exterior model, they're both excellent. There are a couple issues I do have with the ERJ. One is a CTD in night flying, and that was resolved by switching to flying in windows mode. For whatever reason it would crash each time in full screen mode. The other issue is the sound package, where it's okay if you're not very demanding, but feelThere borrowed sounds from their 737 for the overhead switches and fans. I would prefer them to get the real sounds of the aircraft, but I'm picky that way.Curt

I too have both (and little time in either just to be clear). The ERJV2 has much better frame rates for me. As well the ERJV2 is for both FS9 and FSX. It's a neat little bird to say the least. As with anything PMDG does though, the J41 is awesome too. :(

I do not own the PDMG product, but I do own the ERJ from Feel There.I gotta say that the ERJ is a great aircraft. The level of detail is pretty nice... The CALL! system is a nice way of using checklists to help keep things organized. Its worth a puchase!

i've googled the ERJ (the new version) but i'm not sure what the price is, whether it's in euros, dollars, etc. so what exactly is the price USD?

Don't know how important to you this is, but the ERJ has no realistic night lighting in the cockpit. You fly with the dome light on. The PMDG plane has outstanding night lighting in the cockpit.

I'm with you on that one. I really like a good variety of night lighting and PMDG does a great job with that. I have held off on the ERJv2 just because of that reason alone.Noel

I went and bought it anyway! And the J41 to boot! The night lighting on the 145 is is a sad weakness IMO. It is really a nice plane in most all other areas, so it's still a keeper, but good quality panel illumination and guage lighting really is pleasant and makes my preferred flight times--sunrise or sunset--much nicer. I hope they consider adding this. Noel

Even though I'm obviously biased :( , I do really like FT's ERJv2 - it's almost like a jet version of the J41 in a way. Like the J41, you have to actually fly it - there's no autothrottle, no profile VNAV etc. It complements the J41 nicely if you want both a turboprop and a jet for regional stuff.

I think you should have both :(

Night lighting is a one size fits all approach in the Embraer. No dark cockpit. You have to fly with the dome light on. Looks like crud.
