Concorde X

Featured Replies

Installation was pretty simple, just run the installer, then download and install the Civa INS. The process is described in the manual available here: http://forums.flightsimlabs.com/index.php?...y/4-concorde-x/McCrash, do you actually own the aircraft, or are you just spreading FUD around?I have had no major issues, but if you want to avoid being on the bleeding edge, wait for the first SP.
Yup, I have it!

Great plane and good performance on my system. Slightly better performance-wise than the JS41.My only real beef with the plane at this point, is that I have no clue how to fly it. A tutorial is apparently in the works, but does anyone have any alternate resources to use in the meantime? The manual includes system by system description as well as normal checkless, but it really doesn't explain HOW to fly the thing. Also, regarding texture issues. I get a loss or corruption of textures when going from fullscreen to windowed mode, but I get this for other aircraft as well...it doesn't appear to be directly related to concorde. Hope this helps.
JHepburn - Please state your system specs. thanks, I am trying to figure out if this will run well on my system and I have J-41 so this give me a great comparison. As for how to fly it, consider downloading the manual/tutorial from the SSTSIM concorde. It will not match up perfectly but will give you a good place to start.Mark.

i7 920 @ 3.8, 6GB RAM, GTX260 w/ all of the addons (REX, GEX, UTX, ASE, etc)Is the SSTSIM manual available to download if you don't own the aircraft? I had looked around for it, but maybe I had missed it. Thanks!

The SSTSIM manual shouldnt be available if you do not own it, but thats not saying someone doesnt have it available. Saying that, since I know the person who developed it, please do not let me see a link being shared here.If you do have a copy of it, it will get you started as far as understanding the layout of some panels and what some do, but if things do not match up properly keep in mind that ConcordeX is a far superior product as far as functionality and modeling then the SSTSIM bird. I was a Beta Tester for it aswell and can speak from first hand experience.

Can I just say that it would be far better to visit the flight sim labs forum for more detailed information on issues and performance.Whilst there appears to be problems occuring as a result of this addon many issues are also being resolved. With respect to the texture issue, this relates to fsx itself, I've had it happen to me pre-Concorde and I might add I have only had it happen once since installing it. Generally occurs when you flick through different views alot. Providing your machine meets the published requirements the performance should be fine. Considering the complexity of this it's surprising how well it runs. But of course the only way to find out would be to fly it yourself and then draw your own conclusions from that.

Why not read some useful tips and tricks - http://forum.avsim.n...22#entry1965722

It is so complex that I have parked it until the tutorial is released. The checklists and manual, although very thorough, are not enough to fly this aircraft properly.

Thats funny and true.. This addon really fills a couple voids that exist in FS for the people who like to fly long air carrier ops.1. It fly over twice as fast as a 74, so your long route is now half the time. This helps keep you into the game of the simulation as it requires twice the attention in half the time.2. Approach speeds are also a good deal faster than the 74, so it's more challenging to stay ahead of the aircraft while descending on the arival and setting up for the approach. Keeps you twice as busy as well.3. The INS system has it's memory limitations and can only store 9 waypoints and this is without a graphical display to represent any form of situational awareness. To keep the INS from drifting, you must update the system to known navigation points through the combined use of VOR stations and a second database for DME fixes in the INS. So navigation is roughly 3-4 times more busy.4. Because of the very large range of speed, both in reference to Mach and IAS that the aircraft can operate in, the engines need to be operated on a particular schedule and monitored to remain within the operating limitations. If you don't have the Virtual Flight Engineer "plugged in", then this alone adds a bit of work from transonic speeds to the coffin corner. All in all, this is a great addon IMHO for those people who really enjoy the well done long haul tubeliners, but find themselves walking away from the simulator while it's on autopilot, somehow wishing that there was more to do to keep your head in the sim...JB

I would recommend getting hold of this DVD if you are struggling with the Concorde and how to operate it. Coincidentally, if I remember correctly, that film (on VHS) was bundled with the PSS Concorde a few years back in a special edition. It's a great cockpit video, one of the best in fact (actually over five hours running time). I recall it being very useful with the PSS Concorde in explaining how to get up to supersonic cruise and navigate properly, as there is a lot of detailed explanation from the crew and in particular from the flight engineer, who is as you can imagine, very involved in the operation of the thing. For passengers on Concorde it all seemed effortless, but up front those three guys had to work fairly hard at driving the Concorde.Al

Yup, the PSS Concorde Professional (limited edition) did come with a part 1 DVD of that film - 168 minutes long, focusing on a London to New York flight. It was pretty useful as the PSS manual largely focused on systems description.

Regarding the SSTSIM manual/tutorial, sorry guys I own the plane so was not aware that the manuals were not an open download. As for the DVD of the Concorde from ITVV, I have these as well and it is a fantastic resource covering in quite a bit of detail all of the systems.Mark.

The ITVV is a fantastic video and resource!

Some quotes:---------------------------------------------Kiwikat: 'Are you sure you have the right plane here?'(Ans: Ok, Mach 2.00 and 159 kts (how's that?). Cheesh.)--------------------------------------------Trisager: 'Bad day, Napamule?'(Ans: No. Nothing bothers me. Did I sound 'too harsh'. Normal for me.'YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH' (HeeHee). --------------------------------------------Momtchil: 'Just to mention that the Concorde top speed is 2.02Mach (≈1,450 mph; 2,330 km/h), and an approach speed of around 162 kts(300 km/h). There are reports of Concorde landings at around 155 to160 knots, so I guess you could land at under 160kts if you are verygood.'(Ans: Read on. I 'resemble' those remarks.)--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------I have the Concorde in FS2000, FS2002, and FSX. The 2k2 is same model as 2k model. I don't have a FS9 Concorde (yet). The FSX model is by Mr. Guzman (ported over from FS2000, I guess, as the panel gauges are 1998!). Air France repaint is by Mason Al Nouri. Model by Guzman.I have been working on several versions (off and on) since February. In FS2000 it handles/flys 'ok' but below specs. In FS2002 it flys 'up to par'. FSX it flys as per specs, and lands at or under 160 kts (my initial/primary objective). So I guess I am 'very good' doing FDE's and 'very good' also at flying it. I will make a video in a day or so and will add link in the Video forum (link to YouTube). Have you seen the Concorde videos they have? They are 2+ yrs old and are really bad landings. Jumps on taxi (?) due to 'WIND'? Too much BS, that's what.Mach 2.02+, and land 159 Kts? I am doing that already, but just did not make video as I just today finished install of Acceleration part and haven't had time. Complete wipe of my 2 HDs after backing up, format, and reinstall everything including XP SP2 and have been at it since Feb 27. Installs=CFS3 (3/20/2010), FS2000 (3/2/2010), FS2002 (2/27/2010), FS9 (3/12/2010) and FSX (3/15/2010), plus Acceleration (4/08/2010). Phew! And I'm not done yet! Enjoying 'old' favorites too much. Just did a fix of Kevin Espeseth's 'Chips' Interceptor bike (at FSCom, 4/3/2010) and made a video (YouTube). Was playing around with it even today. It's under 'celeritas354' or key in 'Super Chip FS9'. Hey, supersonics are not my bag-VEHICLES are. But I 'do' both.Yeah the Concorde's dynamics have always been seriously messed up. And nobody ever did a fix (?). So now someone comes out with a FSX version and you can't fly it unless you learn the cockpit and all the switches. Too bad. I just use another panel and go fly. Why suffer. Now I am waiting to see if the dynamics for this payware will have the same crappy FDEs you got with all the other Concordes that have come out in the past. Didn't hear ANYTHING said about that part (yet). I guess the 'Honeymoon' with the 'magnificent' panel is not over yet. (But, it will.)SSTSim: 'You can do M2 at 48,000 ft (IF-BIG IF-the outside temp is not under -80 C and your nose temp is no more than 127 C (260.6 F))'. And they spent more time 'codeing' these limitation(s) into the panel than they did on ALL the other aspects (including the FDE's). Right on, Dudes! Why? So it can be like the 'real' Concorde panel? In FS we don't NEED those limitations on a 'real' panel. We need performance, and capabilities that will 'work' for the 'average' simmer. Not (another!) 'patch', 'update', or 'BS'.CBNapamulePS: FYI- it took me all day to write this reply. I 'simmer' slowly. (Too much information? Sorry.)

I don't think your reply makes much sense, but I gather you are happy with what you've got. Enjoy :(

Oh, yeah, I forgot. You're pushing the upcoming Concorde-X. Well the video did NOT show him landing it (YOU MIGHT HAVE NOT NOTICED). It showed THE PANEL 'landing' (at night) but did not show the CONCORDE landing. Wonder why? I wasn't born yesterday, you know. The same 'mhimhi66' also made a video showing a heavy landing at JFK. The title says 'not perfect..but..the quality is great'. Well my quality would be great too if I used REAL footage mixed with SIM footage (and let the viewer THINK it's sim footage). He matched the REAL footage (plane veering to right on roll out) with same 'veer' in SIM, from cockpit view (with 'convienient' look to left) to create a 'break' in clip). Phoney baloney. Take a (CLOSE) look:Link:

. I wouldn't buy a pencil from this guy, or his friends. Buyer beware. Your Milage May Vary. Bla Bla Bla.And if my reply 'doesn't make any sense' then you just don't get it. You CAN'T STAND THE THRUTH was meant for you too, if it fits. The video you linked is HYPE and nothing else. Cute-but no cigar. So it don't matter if 'X' ever comes out. I don't plan on buying it anyway. Why? You kidding, right? Blind? Dumb? CBNapamule

This is not unique to Concorde and quite frankly what a lot of us sim pilots are looking for. Name one advanced addon where you can fly it without learning that crazy cockpit and all of those little buttons, dials and switches. In addition, I have successfully flown the SSTSIM Concorde to FL600 and landed it at 159 knots. I have only flown the Concorde-X twice in a full flight and reached FL580 and landed as well at 160 knots. Not sure what your issue with these addons is.Mark.
