March 1, 201016 yr I've been reading a lot about it, especially recently when the upgrade to GEX and FTX came out. I'm considering it but I'd like to hear from FSG users. Is it really worth it and can you tell the difference as soon as the product is installed? Jacek G. It makes the contours of the ground much more realistic. Matt Wilson
March 1, 201016 yr Genesis mesh makes the default beached-whale looking mountains much more realistic, with cliffs and peaks and everything else that makes a mountain look like a mountain. Once you have it, you will never fly without it. It's a must have, and the customer service I got from FSGenesis was first rate. ___________________________I'm just flying for the fun of it.
March 1, 201016 yr Author Very good, thanks for the input. I'll be making the purchase tonight. How about landclass? FSG also or should I go with xClass by Cloud9? Jacek G. March 1, 201016 yr Don't know about landclass, I just let GEX + UTX do their thing and it all looks good to me.But you'll definitely see a big difference with the mesh. Those mountains turn into real panoramas.Happy flying. :( ___________________________I'm just flying for the fun of it.
March 1, 201016 yr The landclass that FSG does is ok. I prefer the SceneryTech landclasses, they are top notch and work with everything. If you already have landclass they should work fine too. All the FSG product does is change the elevations not the textures etc. If you know you are going to use a lot of their products, and you will once you see them, I HIGHLY suggest you get the lifetime galaxy membership, it saved me a lot of cash in the US alone not including the rest of the world.
March 1, 201016 yr Author Can you run both FSG and SceneryTech? Jacek G. Ryzen 5800X3D | Asus RTX4090 OC | 64gb DDR4 3600 | Asus ROG Strix X570E | HX1000w | Fractal Design Torrent RGB | AOC AGON 49' Curved QHD |
March 1, 201016 yr Can you run both FSG and SceneryTech?Yes you can and I do! I have all the FSG mesh and ST landclass that has been released and run them all together along with UTX and GEX.Rod
March 1, 201016 yr Author Thanks, the wife will be p.issed off, again. Jacek G. Ryzen 5800X3D | Asus RTX4090 OC | 64gb DDR4 3600 | Asus ROG Strix X570E | HX1000w | Fractal Design Torrent RGB | AOC AGON 49' Curved QHD |
March 1, 201016 yr Can you run both FSG and SceneryTech?not at the same time because you can not have two separate landclass products competing against each other. you can buy both and check off in your FSX scenery library which one you want to use. each has it positives and negatives meaning they may show different coverage for a given area.
March 1, 201016 yr FSG's mesh is very good, no doubt. But, I've personally given up on the product.I've been waiting for quite some time for V2 of Canada to come out to fix the plateau problem. After promised dates for the fix have come and gone while new products continue to come, and a few other actions by FSG, I've decided not to buy anything from them in the future. They are now on my "do not trust list", not at the top of the list, but there.Anyway, excuse the vent. This has been an annoyance for me for a while, so I took the opportunity to say so...As I said, though, I'm sure you'll like the product regardless.

I got the V2 of the American scenery but then my three-year membership died and I never looked into V2 for Canada. On the other hand, when FSGenesis didn't give me a proper %-off credit when I bought a selection of packages prior to my membership, I brought it up with them, got a return email from the boss the same afternoon, my VISA was credited within hours, and I was offered a free scenery package as an apology. I can't speak for others, but I always got excellent service from FSGenesis. ___________________________I'm just flying for the fun of it.
March 2, 201016 yr I use it and love it. I do recommend getting the DVD version rather than the download version because there is more detail to it.
March 2, 201016 yr Author I use it and love it. I do recommend getting the DVD version rather than the download version because there is more detail to it.Well, that's not fair. Why would they offer two different versions? I prefer download version, I usually lose CDs or scratch them a year after I buy them. Anyways, I bought US Mesh and Landclass and I like it, I didn't really have the time to fly around too much but so far so good. Thank you all for the input. Jacek G. March 2, 201016 yr Moderator I bought a lifetime Galaxy Membership and received every FS9 and FSX product on CDs and DVDs. That's the best bang for the buck, IMHO.BTW, the only difference between the media version and the download version is this: The download version will be compiled using a higher compression parameter, and will have a vertical resolution of .5 m, resulting in an approximately 70% decrease in file size but with a very slight decrease in visual fidelity.
