March 10, 201016 yr hey Spiritflyer, where did you download the FPS limiter from?? All the links I have found are doa. Are you running that rig on air or water cooled?
March 10, 201016 yr 185.50 driverStephen :(Hi Stephen; This has bugged me since the original post... How did you get that XP driver to run on the Win-7/64? I downloaded it from nVidia, and as soon as I run it - up pops a message saying it's an XP driver and will not run on W7.. :( i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.

If I remember right, I had to select Vista 64 in the Nvdia search drop down and then went to the archives.Stephen

March 10, 201016 yr Author In all truth, I thought it would be more appropriate if, in Bill's honour, you checked into Adrian's store and bought me Twin Oaks airport. But that's just my opinion. Neither here nor there. Happy flying. :(I will make you a counter offer. I will stand up in front of the computer with tears in my eyes if you sing O Canada :( at the top of your voice. Are you named CanadaOne after the men's bobsled that flipped upside down or the women's bobsled of the same name that won gold? Stephen
March 11, 201016 yr Author Stephen, so do you have any other tweaks in your cfg? I spent a couple of hours last night trying to accomplish the same goal (one setting for all), but with the BP=0 tweak. I can go from teens-low 20s in the add-on areas and cities to high 40s-50s on my new rig with the BP tweak (with everything on max but AG on very dense), but it comes at the cost of weird graphical anomalies. I have reduced those by adjusting the TMP setting, but haven't gotten rid of them entirely. And it seems to work better yet with the FPS limiter set at 30 (which I also didn't use to use, but find I need now in the new system to get rid of jerkiness using unlimited when scenery becomes less dense and FPS climb toward 100).I'm going to try your terrain settings (which I used to use in my old system as the BP tweak didn't make much difference there). But I'm curious as to whether that's the only tweak you're using. My preference is for the fewest tweaks and the most vanilla cfg.By the way, I join in on your accolades for Stark's. It's my default airfield now. I just love taking off from there in the A2A Cub. Brilliant!Yes Griphos,Yes I do have a number of tweaks that I swear by (and sometimes swear at). Here are the main ones:[bufferpools]poolsize=0[Display]TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=80[TERRAIN]TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_TREES_PER_CELL=800TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_BUILDINGS_PER_CELL=600[JOBSCHEDULER]AffinityMask=15Truthfully, this machines runs very fast, clean and smooth in just about the most difficult scenery. There is no way that anything near these specifications can't run anything in the PNW with headroom for a good addon plane and flight programs.StephenPS: I had forgotten how gorgeous Australia is with ORBX. I missed the long white sandy beaches, so I am back flying there for awhile. IMHO their work downunder equals or surpases what they have done in the PNW, as great as it is. It must be the love they have for their homeland. It has rubbed off I guess for I now love it too, at least the FTX version. You guys that don't have it really don't know what you are missing. BTW, I have different trees and buildings setting for OZ (trees at 1800, and buildings at 800)
March 11, 201016 yr I guess this is a bit OT, but since there are folks posting in this thread who use FPS limiter, I thought I'll ask here. After reading this thread, I downloaded and installed PS limiter. I set FPS to 26 in the GUI and fired up FSX via the batch link on my desktop. Then simultaneously with the FSX start up menu the message "NEW FPS = 26" appeared on the screen in bold letters and FSX (i. e. the start up menu) instantly froze and I had to close FSX via ctrl+alt+del. I tried 3 more times with the same results. Any ideas? Thanks, Wolfgang

I have not heard of a freeze before like that happening at the same time. I wonder if it isn't something else causing the problem? Did you try uninstalling the FPS Limiter and reinstalling it?Stephen
March 11, 201016 yr I have the limiter going, but FRAPS and the in-game FPS counter still show my frames going above what I set in the limiter. Is that normal? ___________________________I'm just flying for the fun of it.

But today after a new start of the system FPS Limiter is running fine except for what I state beneath.WolfgangI have the limiter going, but FRAPS and the in-game FPS counter still show my frames going above what I set in the limiter. Is that normal?Same here. When the limiter is set to 26 I get spikes up to 31. Generally my fps are very erratic (not only in PNW)Wolfgang
March 11, 201016 yr Yeah, it's not a hard limit as the in-game limiter is. It works differently. But it works to do the same sort of thing, which is to prevent your gpu from spending itself drawing screens as fast as possible, leave some gpu cycles for doing other things or being idle, which smooths things out considerably. I think if you'll turn off the fps counter, you'll notice that the game is very smooth and you won't get as many of the micro-stutters that happen when the card goes from 70 FPS to 5 and back in a fraction of a second.
March 11, 201016 yr I too get inconsistent fps with the limiter, but it usually runs with 5 fps or so of the 35 fps limit I set it to. A lot better than the 30-40 fps spikes I get running FSX without the limiter.
