AirSimmer A320

Featured Replies

Jack the upgrade is 30 euros, not 95. All the best with your new bus, it takes a bit of getting used to. There are a few updates you will be able to download from the Wilco site. I had to print and then read the manual many times before I could get the hang of it. I think 80% of people who dismiss the Wilco/Feelthere airbus as "crap" simply have not understood how to fly it. It's a whole different way of flying to those used to boeing, and takes a lot of work - well it did for me anyway. There is a lot of misunderstandings regarding the autotrim, especially when disengaging the a/p prior to hand flying the remainer of a landing. The trick is to disengage the a/p and let go of your stick/yoke for a few moments to allow the autotrim to calibrate itself. If you don't do this it leads to problems with pitch which is difficult to recover from.Cheers,Dave
drifting well off topic from the original posters question, but I find it odd that you think that the feelthere bus is a capable simulation of an airbus even though it is incapable of managed mode descents, calculating TOD's etc, has no navdata sid/star support and countless other issues that were never patched by the developers who essentially abandoned the project? It's absurd to say that people complaining about these key issues 'simply have not understood how to fly it'. Quite the opposite, do you understand how badly feelthere implemented their managed autopilot mode, or is that an area of airbus flying that you have failed to understand? cheersAlex

I really don't get airsimmer, they talked and talked about how great this bus was going to be during the first few years beating there chests with there "no compromise" slogan, then they released a product that was nothing but compromises. Then they just disappeared for 3 months, let there reputation and forum go in the dumps, now the one guy Nik who said way back in June of last year that they were crossing the finish line shows up out of the blue stating that they are going to start with the monthly updates again and also saying that they are going to make the advanced version even more complicated. In the mean time they have not even got the basic version right. Airsimmer does not owe me anything, and I'm glad that they are are trying to tackle this project but please for the love of god just fix the problems for the people who have bought the basic version, then get the advanced out the door enough talk already.

First i was like "i'm goin' to buy this", than after reading all those posts on Airsimmer forum, about plane, i'm glad i don't have it. You can describe this plane in two words: EPIC FAIL!

My Specification: I CAN RUN FSX IN MAX SETTINGS....i don't care about dell, bell, amd, intel, 60000 wats power supply or alien made graphic card....

A guy whose name I already forgot, said to me the following: Wilco Airbus = Windows Vista. Both are not that good, but people make both of them seem much worse than they are, and I agree. After flying the Wilco A320 for several hours on short hops across Europe, I don't think the Wilco bus is half as bad as people suggest. For an intermediate systems difficulty fan, the Wilco bus is alright in my opinion. I agree it has some glaring problems, and these are all caused by a flawed FDE, as Eric Marciano explained to me. Before managed descent will work properly, the FDE will have to be fixed, simple as that. I think that probably, when the FDE is fixed, also the calculations regarding the T/D and such will make more sense. But really, I don't think the Wilco bus is that bad. It seems to have gotten most stuff right. For people who don't find the remaining issues very important, or who simply use a workaround, the issues are not such a problem. Opinions differ however, of course... This is just mine. I invite you to read my review of the Wilco Airbus on simflight.com, once it is released.Ian: indeed, I agree. As I said, this post doesn't seem to state a whole lot about the Basic edition and where that one is going. After such a long time, I think the buyers are entitled to some details...

Somehow I doubt that, this many years after initial release and with feelthere publicly withdrawing support for the wilco bus that we will ever see an updated FDE from the developers that will address the managed mode/TOD/alt restriction issues but I digress....My issue is not with the the Wilco bus being 'bad' per se, that is to each individual to decide. My point was the suggestion that Dave made that those people complaining about the wilcos shortcomings don't understand Airbus logic. A frankly ridiculous statement considering the very issues that people were complaining about are core Airbus design features such as the managed performance modes.cheersAlex

The only hope left for the Wilco Airbus is Eric Marciano. His paid upgrades manage to fix some things, but osme issues will be left unpatched. It is he that also said that for most issues, the FDE is the problem. His answer to the quetsion whether the FDE will be made better, was that the chances are slim. He himself is no FDE specialist, and he'd have to sit down with an Airbus FDE specialist to fix the issues. hence, chances of it getting fixed are indeed slim...Anyway, I agree with what you say Alex: Dave's statement was indeed false.

Drifting back on topic...Airsimmer is amazing - they STILL don't get it :( :( :( I'm speechless, it's all been said here and there.Just amazing - afaic they can B) until they get a clue about management, marketing and coding a consistently functional basic product.

So far, AS has only managed to dig themselves deeper into an already cavernous hole. Now they get Nik to come out promising new and more complex functionality. Are they completely insane? They can't even get their so-called "Basic" A320 to work, yet they feel they can talk about more complex funcionality? I don't see how anyone can take these jokers seriously anymore.

:( Insane was also the word that came to my mind when I read that 'update' by 'Nik'. I couldn't believe what I was reading...independent system failures and usage...4 times per cycle update...#####! And he only briefly mentions them working on the bugs at the end of the basic version. No thanks!

Well, their so called "basic version", don't even have a "B" from basic. Overland/SMS is more "advanced" product than this "basic" one. I just can't imagine how advanced version is goin' to look like, when they can't make simple one. On their forum, they don't even answer on posts...anymore.So, it's look like that AS is just another "Take the money, and run" thing.

My Specification: I CAN RUN FSX IN MAX SETTINGS....i don't care about dell, bell, amd, intel, 60000 wats power supply or alien made graphic card....

What I get out of what Nik had to say is simple, AS hit a stone wall while trying to debug the basic version so they have to go back to the drawing board to redo a significant portion of the bus. To me that's not bad news, that's a death sentence to the AS bus. It's no surprise that AS is short on cash. They keep working on a singular product that has exceeded its planned development cycle for years, who wouldn't run out of cash doing that? They sold an alpha version (ET) and a beta version (basic) and has since stunk up their own reputation so much in the entire FS community that it's safe to say they will not be able to draw any more money from this market until they honestly finish the plane. So the practical question is, instead of when they'll finish it, rather how much longer they can keep at it until it makes no sense to continue the project.I have great interest for and some cash and time invested in the project that I wish I'll get to fly the complete AS bus one day. But any such hope seems like blind faith at this point...or rather it has been for quite a while.

Get ready for another round of suckers falling for the "Pay to be a beta tester" insanity.Oh ya BTW, when it's done you'll still need to buy it to.Epic Epic failure.

For a Flightsim Labs beta tester you really surprise and disappoint me with your confused attitude? The Flightsim Labs product is what I would call, top notch, and therefore I would have expected your comment to be a little more refined and respectful?First and foremost, you have got all the wrong information from wherever you heard it from. The 'E.T' members were not beta testers but was invited to help if they wanted to, by reporting bugs. In return, they got the Advanced version of the A.S. 320 for a knock down price. All of the ET members get the whole thing in the shape of an '.exe' download when the project is finished without any extra charges and it will be finished. Now you know.Airsimmer announced that this was their very first aviation project and selected the Airbus as a impressive challenge that everyone would be able to enjoy. The fact that it's taken them longer to finish than they envisiged is a true sign that they intend to get it right at the end, and for that dedication they should recieve our full support.Without them and people like them, this hobby would be nothing more than a game. Please do not criticize those who can better you in their field? It is true that the 'throw all my toys out of my pram if I don't get it yesterday' brigade is on the increase. No doubt, they will all be at the front of the queue to formally apologize to Airsimmer, when the project is finished eh?

Are you an ET member or a basic version customer?
