AirSimmer A320

Featured Replies

I'm going to add the perspective of one who has not had a lot of the problems that others have had with the Airsimmer Airbus. I'm not an Airsimmer "a really excited user" as I stumbled upon Airsimmer pretty late in the process. I guess I'm a fortunate one, that I haven't had the CTD's that a lot of other folks have experienced. As a matter of fact, I've never had a CTD with the Airsimmer bus. Why? Who knows. Just dumb luck I guess. Does the aircraft have its' problems? Absolutely, but as someone who gets the opportunity to climb into the cockpit of an Airbus a couple of times a week as part of my "real" airline job, I can tell you, the cockpit environment is right on. The night lighting is very accurate, as are the sound and feel of the flightdeck. Does it fly like an Airbus? I don't know, I'm not a pilot. When I bought the AS A320, I went into the transaction with my eyes open. Airsimmer stated up front that this was a lighter version than they had anticipated. I also had the backup of the Flight 1 thirty day refund. I let the refund period go by without a thought. As I stated earlier, the aircraft has its' issues, but when I'm flying an A320 in FS9 and I have to choose between the Wilco A320 and the Airsimmer, my curser always moves to the Airsimmer button.

Jack the upgrade is 30 euros, not 95. All the best with your new bus, it takes a bit of getting used to. There are a few updates you will be able to download from the Wilco site. I had to print and then read the manual many times before I could get the hang of it. I think 80% of people who dismiss the Wilco/Feelthere airbus as "crap" simply have not understood how to fly it. It's a whole different way of flying to those used to boeing, and takes a lot of work - well it did for me anyway. There is a lot of misunderstandings regarding the autotrim, especially when disengaging the a/p prior to hand flying the remainer of a landing. The trick is to disengage the a/p and let go of your stick/yoke for a few moments to allow the autotrim to calibrate itself. If you don't do this it leads to problems with pitch which is difficult to recover from.Cheers,Dave

Sure, Mike, but I'm sure you'll agree with us that the proper definition of 'lighter' (at least in this case) is 'with fewer options / lower complexity' and not 'buggy'.So I guess most of us, buyers, were aware of its 'lightness' (and I even waited till so called SP1 before I bought). And that should be made clear to avoid misinformation. It was advertised as 'light' not as 'full of bugs'.That's why so many (including me) were so angry.Peace :(

Rafal, I don't think any of us would buy any software knowing it was full of bugs. As I stated in my original post, I have been fortunate not to have some of the problems that other folks have had. It certainly is not because of anything that I did to my system. I'm hopeful that Airsimmer can get its' act together and not only fix this basic version but get the advanced out as well.

Of course, that would be a masochism! :(

Sometimes masochism could be defined as trying to tweak FSX!

Rafal,Clarification: The website makes no mention of bugs - very true, and indeed, one can say that the info on a Company's site can be officially and reasonably termed 'advertising'. Their release statement on the forum is a far different story, and imho the vast majority who bought it read that statement. The admission about the product being released for financial reasons while still having bugs???? If that did not sound alarm bells, if that did not scream 'read between the lines' to people... :( Perhaps I'm too cynical, but I RAN from Airsimmer's offers - they were too good to be true from a new company with no track record whatsoever.edit: Basic shows great promise though, I hope given enough time they work it out and flesh out the potential.

Mark

And the right thing you did, Mark.Initially I was also thrown far AWAY. But the (shared by many of us) desire of having a quality Airbus simulation was temping enough to have me go for it right after the 'SP1' was released (another silly trick). And yes, nobody forced me to buy. My bad, no doubt.Fortunately we have this great Flight1 refund policy (I've never though I'd use it though).

It LOOKS great. So my first impression was excellent. But then came flying and that's where the real purpose of an aircraft (even virtual) starts (at least to me).Anyway I still wish them best and success, whatever it means. And I hope we have somehow helped Jack make the decision.Have we, Jack? :(

However happy I am to see this sign of life, I can't do but feel that actually nothing was said in that post. We still have no idea how far they are and when we can possibly expect to see anything released. That said, It's great to see that we will get the monthly updates back.

Over 10 years here and AVSIM is still my favourite FS site :-)

Is anyone else having the problem that they can't see the web page? I get some strange error.

Site's back up. :( Regards,Ryan Briggs

It's one of my favourites add-ons ever released for FS9. I believe a lot of the problems that people experience are because they have highly customized and tweaked FS9 installations, or because they don't understand the operating philosophy of the A32X aircraft. The VC is the bset you'll ever see in FS9, flight dynamics are great, systems coverage is mixed but getting there; some areas are lacking (like MCDU pages) but other areas are fantastic (like the overhead). Flight dynamics are good and the overall flying experience is brilliant.Airsimmer done a BAD job at marketing this; it is absolutely NOT a 'simple' or 'lite' aircraft; it's a complex sim that is unfinished in some areas. It's nowhere near being a lite or default aircraft to operate. In short, it's already the best A32X ever released for flight sim - it just isn't finished in some areas yet - but I find it hugely enjoyable already.Davido.
