Do you want to take fs9 ATC too the next level ?

Right, so I'm basically back to square 1. The problem I have with RC v5, is that nobody knows when it will be done. The developer himself can't say so, too, and I really do not feel like waiting for something that might be released in a year only. The way I see it, RC4 isn't really what I'm looking for, and I don't see that it has much stuff that PFE doesn't have. Actually, looking at what both versions I have, I don't see much difference, with PFE having the upper hand on features.

Well, I just completed another flight with PFE and all I have to say is Wow :( , the realistic voice sets really make a big difference. I mean it even installs mic sound effects. Also ,durning my flight I was using flight1 ATR which has TACAS onboard ,PFE was alerting me of traffic :( which I did see and was also on my radar in the correct location as described by ATC .When an AI aircraft landed it called clear of the runway and I did see it was true. Although, while holding short for the depart runway,I did notice PFE only clears the AI for take off a couple of seconds after it maybe already rolling for take off. Which is no big deal to me.Another thing I liked was, the fact it did not seem to bug :( me to death on changing freq to center over and over as does default fs9 atc and RC4.This program to me is far more realistic B) then other atc that I have tired. I am not trying to sell copies because I don't even get a profit because its not anything I had to do with ,I just want people to enjoy their sim as much as I do. Yes, it takes some work to get in the air but the payback is by far better then anything else out there that I have tired. That's my honest opinion. B)

I didn't say it didn't work for me. I'm asking if it will.If I remember rightly, what I have read is that there is no speech between ATC and your AI traffic when in the air. I also read something along the lines that AI traffic on the ground just stops moving when you have landed. I read this in the manual previously available on-line. I cannot check the current situation because the link to the manual (quoted above) gives an error.I was asking if these issues have been fixed. If they haven't, there are a lot of birds singing pretty tunes but not telling all.Kindest regards,John
From current PFE User's Manual:"The original ProFlight 2000 (developed before the introduction of Microsoft'sAI Traffic) utilized a method known as canned chatter. Basically this was ATCchatter based on virtual flights and aircraft that simply did not exist in the FSWorld. What we have done is introduced real ATC chatter based on the AI Trafficflying and maneuvering around you. When tuned to the appropriate COMfrequency you will hear ATC chatting to the AI aircraft and giving taxi, landingand takeoff instructions. Enroute you will also hear other aircraft beinginstructed to climb, descend and turn accordingly.Obviously this type of functionality is far from perfect because PFE does notactually control the AI traffic but merely monitors it and emulates control bygiving commands after the fact. If you sit, watch timing issues with regard tocommands/movements, especially at very busy airports and in particularthose using parallel runways and when AI Traffic is set to 100%. But used asit was designed and intended, as background ambience, it does, in ourhumble opinion, do a remarkable job."John, Hopefully, this will be helpful to you.

RC 4.3 doesn't do that either...
I'd hate to think that this thread will turn into an US vs Them type of thing.
Turn into? The opening post is one versus the other...:(

Thanks mike for you positive inputs :(

I guess what I was trying to get at was, I didn't want this to turn into the same kind of thread that you get with the FSX v FS9 thing. The more choices we have in this hobby (yes, this is just a hobby) the more fun it is.

I'm an old simmer, (Apple IIe) however new to add-ons and this is as good of any place to ask this question. I have never used an ATC program.VS the two.Do they,1. Fly SIDS STARS?2. Assist with emergencies? Understand what it means to return to the airport or vectors for emergency decents etc? I am a RW pilot and I am looking for software to do such. I have been reading as much as I can but their adds seem only to be geared to game simmers and not rw guys, so much. (Just started looking though).3. Allow you to flight plan once, then when you get into your plane you have your clearance there? OR do you have to do funky adjustments like you do in default ATC FS9? Example I have to leave off SID AND STARS, and file from the end of the SID to the beginning of the STAR? 4. RW realsim is what I would like to see. 5. Thanks all! Would love any and all suggestions. Links to old posts and other info would be awesome too! Again, thanks!Jet

Respectfully,

Jet, I know Radar Contact and PFE both handle emergencies and SIDs and STARs. The best thing to do is look at the respective websites for both. The link for PFE and the PFE users manual are in one of my earlier posts in this thread. Radar Contact has their own forum here on Avsim.

Is there a mirror for pf2k_repair.zip? It's a 404 on FPE's support site. I get that runtime error 13 and it's the only way to fix it :s

The broken link is now fixed. Far better to tell us about such things direct as we don't always visit these forums.

Thanks :)Actually, I created an account on the forum today to raise the problem, but haven't posted anything yet as I was busy with the cleaning of my room/study ^^" My bad.

The new version of PFE 2.12 addresses a number of small issues. Particularly with SIDS and STARS. They are now much easier to append to your flight plan. If you are at a busy international airport like EGLL or LIRF you will hear many different accents coming from AI. And, rarely do you hear a "computerised" voice. As for emergencies, yes it does those as well but being a UK pilot I feel there is still a little way to go for true realism. For example once a MADAY is declared it ssgould be appended to the call sign. i.e. "Speedbird 5693" should become "MAYDAY Speedbird 5693". This is a relatively easy issue to fix.PFE takes some getting used to but it's worth it and it will always get better!vololiberista

RC4: - Have to admit that I am tired of RC: it seems clunky now and the very limited number of voices is annoying. And some of the voices sound "made up", like somebody is pretending to be "foreign", although I doubt thats true. - It DOES hand you over (and over and over and over, etc) to various controllers in the same area - at least it does me. - "Do you need any special assistance?" Yes - just LEAVE ME ALONE! I only have one pair of hands (and no FO) and in a heavily-laden aircraft I cant sprint to a new FL in a matter of seconds - so STOP bugging me about my not being at the new level yet. - Oh, and the sarcasm is lost on me. "Do you drive like that?". It was amusing the first time but ............... - Tired of waiting for v5.I would really like to try a new ATC experience.I have just downloaded and skipped through the PFE .pdf: boy, thats a lot of pages and the initial setup looks waaaay complicated. Not sure I could get my head around it.I had already said I wouldnt spend any more money on FS (FS9, that is - cant imagine ever buying FSX) but this has been an interesting and informative thread and ........ well, we`ll see.

I would really like to try a new ATC experience
Have you tried Vatsim? Absolutely best of all. And cheapest. Costs nothing to try. :(
