April 4, 201016 yr Its been 2 :( years ago from purchasing ProFlight Emulator Deluxe . Recently I decided to reinstall ProFlight Emulator Deluxe after all this time. I noticed many updates and improvements have been made since its first release back in 2007.For some time I have been using Radar contact 4. RC4 is a great product :( but it lacks in taxi instructions. ProFlight Emulator Deluxe now, well not sure how long it has been able to do this, can give taxi instructions and even verbally guide you in the correct direction. ProFlight Emulator Deluxe has in my opinion a much more real sound to it compared to RC4. I have just completed one flight with ProFlight Emulator Deluxe and all I can say is if you want to bring life :( to your sim again this did the trick for me.
April 4, 201016 yr Yep, I agree. After the latest update (or upgrade) PFE really shines. I just love the ATC atmosphere it creates, not to mention all the goodies... highly recommended!Regards,Jure (currently near Nizhnevartovsk, flying a Korean A330-300 from RKSI, Incheon, Seoul to EGCC, Manchester. It's a loooong flight :()
April 4, 201016 yr Totally agree!Used with GameCommander2 for verbal communications adds a great deal of reality. RTH
April 4, 201016 yr I'm glad to read this. Why? April 4, 201016 yr Can't say I've had a good experience with PFE.At first it just didn't work, turned out a decimal symbol problem. Later I had my share of issues, inexplicable error messages, taxi guidance sending me all over the place (could also not get the gauge working), ATC that would forget about me. I ended up uninstalling it. Unfortunately, it also uninstalled a slew of shared components, which broke perfectly running installations of other flight sim programs, such as ActiveSky, TTools, etc... (The .ocx stuff.)I told them about it, they sent me to Aerosoft, they got back to me and said they forwarded the issue to the installer technician, never heard from them since. Reinstalled and removed it a couple of times after that, same problem. I saw the recent update as well and I may just bug them about the uninstaller issue. Only if that is resolved, I am willing to try the latest version.Anyway, went back to the default ATC. For all its shortcomings, it does the job. Until recently, when I had enough. Bought Radar Contact, never looked back. And v5 will support taxi instructions. The problem with PFE is that it's built around an ancient application. And having now used RC for about two months, I can also say that PFE is bloated. Mike...
April 4, 201016 yr I was a Radar Contact user since the very first version. I have been using PFE for the last few months. In addition to the taxi instructions, the regional voice sets add a whole new dimension to the ATC. It just isn't realistic to be flying in Europe and hearing controllers with American accents. I know you can block the controllers in RC so you won't have that happen, but there aren't enough voice sets to get a lot of variety. In PFE, if I fly in Australia, I get controllers with Australian accents. Or, if I fly across Europe, I may hear British, German, Polish and Russian controllers. That being said, Radar Contact does a great job at ATC. PFE also does a good job provided you have set up the flight plan properly. Maybe if RC v5 has more regional voice sets I'll return to the fold.
April 4, 201016 yr I have read the PFE does odd things with AI traffic on the ground, and doesn't interact with airborne AI traffic - is this still the case or have those issues been resolved? If the latter, I'm interested . . .John My co-pilot's name is Sid and he's a star! http://www.adventure-unlimited.org
April 4, 201016 yr Author For those that have been having problems ,All I can say is make sure you to have the latest update installed http://www.ocs-support.co.uk/pfe_updates/p...ative_installer My update button did not work so I found this link in their forum. I am not sure if you will need other updates installed also maybe some here can explain. As for me I have all voice expansion packs installed.Although, there are many steps to get this program to work ,when you do get it working correctly its well worth all the effort.
April 4, 201016 yr As review on the Avsim main page, "Airport GPS" solves all of the problems finding your way around an airport so I'm really happy still using RC4. jerrycwo4
April 4, 201016 yr Commercial Member I went to their website to find out more info but many of the links are broken... not a good sign, like their manual to read up on it. Can anyone who has it can confirm:1. It interacts with AI traffic on the ground and in the air?2. April 4, 201016 yr Hello John:Ummmm. I don't know what the problem is, but doubt that it is the program. I have had PF2000 going back to when it first came out for earlier versions of FS, have used it on various systems; and was thrilled to death when the PFE/PF2000 merger made it possible for FSX (and FS9). Nothing I notice is odd relative to AI traffic on the ground or in the air, and it interacts with both. One is tempted at times to race an AI bird to an intersection to be next in line for takeoff. I also have on occasion reset my FS time just to clear the taxi ways in order to not have to stay in line so long at busy airports. (A heretic conflict with reality I realize).Sorry to hear that it doesn't work for you. I highly recommend the program and would not fly without it (No, I am not affliated with OnCourse in any way except as a user. I wish I could claim to contribute something worthy of mention.)Respectfully:RTH I have read the PFE does odd things with AI traffic on the ground, and doesn't interact with airborne AI traffic - is this still the case or have those issues been resolved? If the latter, I'm interested . . .John
April 4, 201016 yr I can see the opinions both on RC and PFE differ from one post to another... I'll just add my two cents based on my own experience!Well, unfortunately, PFE Deluxe was the the only FS addon I uninstalled immediately after installation. I know, it's bad to hear that - I didn't expect that too having heard about PFE's and Aerosoft's reputation. I've managed to solve the decimal point problem but immediately after that another problem came to issue - PFE required to update Wx on relevant page if I want to make Compile button to work. Never heard about such requirements - Why should devs require updating very odd-looking and obsolete wx update page in order to get fp compiled?!? Just for the sake of the fact the program is based on old software, is based on huge programming code that they don't intend to change - just made a port-over kinda thing... It seems odd to me, tbh.Anyway, after I somehow managed to compile the flightplan and finally started FS9, I couldn't first load the flight - required me to undergo too much routines to make PFE2000 ADV flightplan to be converted through PFE Deluxe interface - another oddity! Anyway, this was also done. When I opened the flight, my ATC windows stopped working - this is despite freshly installed FS2004. When I pressed ATIS report button, PFE interrupted me by a stupid message - "ATIS report is not available at this time" WHY?!? The airport I was flying from definitely had ATC and ATIS (ENGM - Gardermoen, Norway)...One of the drawbacks of PFE vs. RC4 is the visual aspect of the software and its versatility, I guess. E.g., the flight planning page of PFE2000 has way too little call signs, aircraft models, etc. Although this just adds to realism of flying - no ATC related in general - this is good to see. Anyway, I'm too tired today to delve into the problems I encountered at my first running of the program but I hope there are guys here who can persuade me to return to PFE and try it again... :) Regards,Victor Quebec

I never have. After you convert the flightplan to use in the Proflight compiler, the only things you need to change are the aircraft type and the cruise altitude. Your callsign and flight number are handle in the option section of PFE. You at least have to do that much in Radar Contact. The part that may take more time than anything is making sure your descent profile is correct. That's one part that Radar Contact does for you automatically. If PFE has one drawback, is that its' user interface can be a little cumbersome. It takes a few more minutes to put together a flight in PFE as opposed to Radar Contact, but I'll accept that in exchange for the immersion factor.I'd hate to think that this thread will turn into an US vs Them type of thing. I've used both programs. RC for many years. They both have a lot to offer.

I'm asking if it will.If I remember rightly, what I have read is that there is no speech between ATC and your AI traffic when in the air. I also read something along the lines that AI traffic on the ground just stops moving when you have landed. I read this in the manual previously available on-line. I cannot check the current situation because the link to the manual (quoted above) gives an error.I was asking if these issues have been fixed. If they haven't, there are a lot of birds singing pretty tunes but not telling all.Kindest regards,John My co-pilot's name is Sid and he's a star! http://www.adventure-unlimited.org
