ehm ..I think the only one not getting it is you, mister.I am not talking about developers, and I honestly don't care what they do,that is their decision to make. All I know is I am not going to repair what isn't broken, and so FS9 will be my sim for a long time. And no,I'm not a pirate,I'm not poor, and indeed, you guessed it,I'm not going to FSX either.By the way,I don't have a blu ray dvd player either. And I couldn't care less how many sales they'll loose as I'm an FS9 diehard,I do not see the goodin purchasing a 737 I already own and like for FSX again just to be bale to fly it in a sim that is a wee bit better according to some,a lot better according to others, and a lot worse according to again numerous others.I do own it,but I'm happy with FS9,that's all there is to it.So,I'm going to be happy with it,while you can go on telling others how lame they are for sticking with it.JP.
What the developers do is the issue as it pertains to should they continue to develop for FS9 or not. There are only 2 reasons why they shouldn't, one is purely a developers issue, and that is will they make up enough money to recoup development costs and even make a profit. Some have come to the decision that the answer is no, and everyone should respect that as it's their bread and butter on the table they would be risking. The other issue does affect users of the FSX community. That is that if a developer did develop for both versions, could they do it without sacrificing added features that would be possible in FSX but not FS9, (ie: using SimConnect vs FSUIPC) in order to allow them to support the product in both sims? This is the issue most FSX users are most afraid of. Is that the developers won't be able to exploit all the additional features FSX SP2 has to offer if they had to provide backward compatibility to FS9. This was the reason Aces broke backwards compatibility with the SP2 service pack to begin with, even to the point of breaking it with FSX RTM, and SP1. They did this because they realized supporting older versions were preventing them and the 3rd party developers from bringing FSX to it's full potential.

Thanks

Well I will buy the CLS product and if the default aircraft looked as good as theirs inside and out, I would probably fly them as well. That is what I prefer. I get more out of the visual experience than I do from operating the systems. Just my opinion. I know many differ.I just haven't been please with the way their sounds have been coming out in FSX with Windows 7. I'd like to see what they come up with for sounds in a FSX only aircraft.

Maybe some people want to actually discuss the CLS MD 80 gasp! :(
No one does! Everybody knows what it's gonna be like! :(
The day I get upset at CLS or CS not developing any addon will be the day I quit Simming.May as well fly the defaults if CLS is the type of addon that floats your boat

Ok, if you have no interest in a FSX MD-81 from CLS. why post in this thread? Maybe I should follow all of your posts and start telling everyone why what you like sucks. Would that be fun?Considering you are a staff reviewer and looking at your signature, I think you should steer clear from these discussions. There is a remote chance you may be slightly biased. People do draw conclusions from forum posts and because you have a staff designation, you are the word of AVSIM. Show a little discretion for Pete's sake. Considering you are a staff reviewer and the product hasn't been released yet you seem to have an opinion about the product, should AVSIM ever allow you to have another review posted? I think you should have your status revoked. If you want to be an average simmer and voice the opinions that average simmers can voice, go ahead but don't expect to be able to voice your opinion and boost your ego at the same time by displaying your staff status so that everyone considers your opinion to be more valid than anyone else's.

I'm suprised somebody from the Avsim staff would type a respose like that.I expected more from a representative of this website.

I have to admit, it does put your objectivity on reviews into question, unless (looking at the Emoticon) you meant it as a sarcastic remark, to whats been posted so far?

Thanks

If it was sarcastic I'll apologize. The emotion icon is not terribly descriptive.

Whoa, whoa, slow down. When did I ever explicitly said it was going to be good or bad? And yes, I may have my name in green, but still, my opinion is just that, my own opinion, not AVSIM's nor anyone else's (I've said this a couple of posts before, given the volatile content on some of them.)I'm in no intention of combating here, obviously, but since when having an opinion about a product renders me unable to review another product? And no, I don't intend to boost my ego and no, my opinion isn't more valid than any of yours; I don't recall offending anyone in here with me being part of the staff as my reason (directly or indirectly) for doing it.

And yes, I was being sarcastic. Perhaps I should have used this one: :( Unless I'm a developer on the project, all I have is expectations of how the thing will be like. That's it.But, please, carry on with the original topic as I don't want this to become a third hi-jack of this thread :( Are we all okay now? :( Best regards people

  • 4 weeks later...

To be honest, this is my first posting in the forums. I dont understand most of the posts in this thread. The flight sim community is small, and getting smaller by the week. Microsoft is out of it, combat flight sims have gone down to a trickle of about 1 or two a year. So when a developer comes out with a new product, what do we read here? "Its too simple, there is already others that make that plane so why did they make this? , or, its for the wrong sim". I am happy when any new product comes out, because as long as a company is willing to take the chance that they can make a profit with a flight sim that means that I get to enjoy my hobby. The time to start complaining is when they stop coming out with addons. Just my opinion - now continue the arguements. :( Brian
