JS41 passenger cabin makes me feel robbed

How nice! A blond with big jugs" well that makes my day. The next time you roll to the gate in the real world keep this in mind. Those "big jugs and blond hair" had nothing to do with you making it to the ground in one piece.S. Olson

While you guys turned my post into a joke, Which I dont really care cause this post is addressing PMDG directly and non of you really, so w/e. Thanks for the reply PMDG, But it really was not a good explanation of why you should not make your product wholly complete and basically cater to people who, from one perspective, really have no business playing this game in the first place if their computer cant support it. This game is not meant to be played at half settings in 2010. Maybe in 2006, not 2010. Basically I did pay 50 bucks for this addon, as you all did AND I was planning on buying ALL of the PMDG FSX addons because I was so impressed, that is until I saw the cabin views for JS and it made me extremely skeptical. Now idk about you people, but im running a self built i7 monster with 3 way SLI geforce 400's that could run super computer algorithms for National Geographic's scientist models for global warming. Do I expect most people to have a computer like this? Hardly. Do I expect people should have a good enough rig to be able to enjoy a Wholly graphically satisfactory 50 dollar addon at at least 15 - 30 FPS (which is satisfactory for flying)? Yes. Now, I get between and never less than 150 -200 FPS in FULL FSX settings + REX active and while in the JS VC cockpit. Let me ask, when you pay for a new expensive car, say a beamer or benz, (This relates cause PMDG are all expensive FSX addons in relation to the mainstream) how would you like it if everything about the car was great, but the backseats and backseat area looked like utter garbage, like it was from a 83 used up hatchback? I highly doubt you would appreciate that. It is not my fault/problem/responsibility that some of you dont have the computer set up to handle this demanding game in all its glory. Now I dont know what kind of corporation PMDG is, but at my manufacturing corporation we manufacture products that fit the needs of EVERYONE, and offer numerous performance options and sizes that fit all. The professional and responsible and good business practiceand good faith thing PMDG would do, is to allow for an option to scale down certain graphics settings for their addons, not just screw anyone over that has a half decent rig. Bottom line is this: PMDG, this is not 2006 or 2008. This is 2010. Stop hampering your own addons! Unleash the beast! If people cant spend 300 - 500 dollars on a decent enough graphics card to play FSX w/ addon's correctly then thats not who you should be catering too. there are Plenty of people who have high quality rigs. This is not FS9 either. You should at some point stop making your newer products scaled down graphically to the level of 2 - 4 years ago. Most of our computers arent babies, and the new i7's and graphics cards have no trouble handling your "demanding" addons. I expect to get what I pay for. This " ADDON " cost the same price as a brand new console/computer video game! It is truly unfortunate that you can not enjoy ALL aspects of the airplane, and what I paid for. I dont know how good of pilots you all are on here or irl, but I like to at times watch my plane land from the passengers seat and test my skills and how well I set up the approach/autoland etc. I also enjoy watching the beauty of REX vs. 2 from the passenger cabin of my beautiful captain sim boeing 700 series aircraft while flying over gorgeously rendered hawaii and reefs etc. Captain sim's flight models of their 700 series aircraft ALL have highly detailed outer/inner plane & VC and flight interiors and cabins, are highly detailed complex procedural simulators, and their addons are less money.

If this was a real car - I would complain bitterly, if this was a car 'simulator' I would care less. The same applies to commercial flight simulator costing millions of dollars - they come with no passenger cabin. Comparing 'real' with 'simulator' makes no sense. If the cabin was so important to you - you should have checked before you paid since nowhere it is self-evident that flight simulator automatically means a cabin. But yes, if I bought a real benz I would assume all seats (leather preferable) would be included.

We could build a cabin and load it up with high poly objects and high resolution bitmaps, but then another customers would come here screaming about how their video cards are being overly taxed, and performance is horrible, and why can't this airplane be for FS9 or FS2002, and why oh why did we make the horrible decisions we've made to rob our (paying) customers of their hard earned money. OH THE HUMANITY!!!! Why doesn't my computer really fly? For the love of everything good and holy, make my chair soar!
Captain sim's boeing jets all have high poly objects and resolution bitmaps for their large lengthly cabinshttp://www.captainsim.com/cgi-bin/imgview....p721_16.jpg;x=1http://www.captainsim.com/cgi-bin/imgview....p721_13.jpg;x=1http://www.captainsim.com/cgi-bin/imgview....p721_21.jpg;x=1http://www.captainsim.com/cgi-bin/imgview....p721_12.jpg;x=1http://www.captainsim.com/cgi-bin/imgview..../p721_8.jpg;x=1http://www.captainsim.com/cgi-bin/imgview..../p721_9.jpg;x=1http://www.captainsim.com/cgi-bin/imgview....p721_18.jpg;x=1http://www.captainsim.com/cgi-bin/imgview....v767_33.jpg;x=1http://www.captainsim.com/cgi-bin/imgview..../v767_6.jpg;x=1http://www.captainsim.com/cgi-bin/imgview..../v767_3.jpg;x=1http://www.captainsim.com/cgi-bin/imgview....v767_14.jpg;x=1http://www.captainsim.com/cgi-bin/imgview....v767_23.jpg;x=1http://www.captainsim.com/cgi-bin/imgview..../p721_7.jpg;x=1http://www.captainsim.com/cgi-bin/imgview....57_vc_9.jpg;x=1http://www.captainsim.com/cgi-bin/imgview....7_vc_22.jpg;x=1http://www.captainsim.com/cgi-bin/imgview....7_vc_27.jpg;x=1http://www.captainsim.com/cgi-bin/imgview...._sal_12.jpg;x=1http://www.captainsim.com/cgi-bin/imgview....7_sal_3.jpg;x=1http://www.captainsim.com/cgi-bin/imgview....7_sal_8.jpg;x=1http://www.captainsim.com/cgi-bin/imgview....7_sal_7.jpg;x=1 and I dont see ppl complaining on their forums about it. As you can see from Captain sim, IMMENSE ATTENTION TO LEVEL OF DETAIL ALL THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE PLANE. Their passenger cabins are in fact quite beautiful and fun to view part of the flight from at times. You all can bash me as much as you want, but its your money too, and 2bhonest in response to the funny youtube video, its pretty irrational to not stick up for quality that you should be receving. o well ur money i guess w/e.

Whats with the 'w/e'? Week ending? What does it mean?If you don't like the JS41 and feel you have been ripped off or misled in your purchase then don't buy anything else from PMDG.Uninstall the JS41, delete the installation file and add CaptainSim to your favorites list.I feel sure that CaptainSim will meet your 'visual' expectations if that is what you seek. I have read very good reviews for the 'visuals' but not so much for the 'systems' (latter is what I prefer). There also has to be a balance with regards to system requirements. Not everyone can afford to buy the latest hardware and if the addon required the most expensive cpu, gfx card etc on the market at the time then there would be no end of complaints of not being able to run it above 5fps etcJust look at the complaints after FSX was initially released. Only 4yrs later are the majority of people running it at a more acceptable level once they have upgraded hardware etc.Do you expect PMDG to release an addon today that can only be properly utilised by the minority today and the majority in 6 months? There are some FSX users still on single core pentiums!

In English next time please.Yes there are but I'm not advocating their ability/inability to run addons. It was a tongue in cheek remark to show that there are a wide scope of cpu rigs being used.

It is even more irrational to marvel at nicely textured passengers seats while at the same having incomplete aircraft systems - some pretty fundamental items relating to operating the aircraft. For some of us quality is not limited to seats and luggage racks. But this what is nice about this hobby - some products deliver eye candy while other put more stress on fidelity where it counts most - in the cockpit, customers have choices. But trying to force your 'quality' standards on us is childish.

Just out of curiosity.....why would a highly detailed cabin affect framerates? If the virtual pilot was in the cockpit, then presumably this would only happen if they turned to look back? That isn't something that would happen very often, and probably not at all. Anyway, I was under the impression that the reason for not including a detailed cabin was to keep the price down. After all, it would take time and wages to create one.

For the OP...CaptainSim products realy look nice but are not that nice to fly.. great example is their 727... it looks amazing and even flies good but some systems are lacking.. big time! Until recently even the VS indicator was kaput, showing wrong info. I never heard any of the PMDG products had such basic problems. But yes, CS products really look amazingly good. Honestly, I didn't notice the low-res textures in the cabin, never, and I fly J41 for 5 months now. See, for you this is a huge problem for me.. I didn't even notice.Ariane products cost even more.. do their 737 have interior cabin (don't know, just asking)?

Boy for a guy that can afford this "monster PC" you sure are making a big deal about a high quality 50 dollar add on!!! I am sure you researched long and hard on that PC purchase. Had you done the same when you bought the j41, you would have known what you were buying! But your a smart guy, you knew that allready! I'm sure you will make some friends over at capt sim with that post you started! Also upon further research, you would also know that all toss fancy video cards are useless for fsx. Too bad you wasted 50 bucks on the j41 you could have put that towards another video card and got 300 fps :(

It's just a matter of resource management. A decent virtual cabin, even for something as "small" as the J41 would be at least 20,000 polies. Throw in higher detailed passengers and you add another 5 digit accumulation of polies. On top of that, you throw in a few animations, and the draw calls for the airplane increases. On top of that throw in a couple of high resolution bitmaps and you're piling an additional 2 - 4 MB into your graphics card's limited memory (remember, some customers (paying) are still using 128 or 256 MB graphics cards). All those resources are competing with addon scenery, cloud addons, AI traffic, etc. FSX is kinda funny in that hidden objects, or objects that are "behind" you, are still drawn, and still suck up resources. The focus of our products are, and always will be on the cockpit visuals, external model visuals, and of course (and most importantly), comprehensive aircraft systems and a realistic flight model. Our goal, as stated on the front page of our web site reads as follows: "With each product, our goal is to provide education and entertainment for customers interested in the complex environment of commercial aviation.". Anything regarding the cabin is purely secondary, and although we know that many (paying) customers enjoy sitting back next to the lav inhaling blue toilet disinfectant, the vast majority of our customers keep coming back because of the experience on the flight deck. In the case of the J41, we've provided what is arguably the most visually appealing flight deck of a turboprop available for FlightSim to date (ouch, I think I may have just snapped my humerus patting myself on the back), maticulously recreated from thousands of photographs and real-world measurements. On top of that, there is a fantastic custom sound set, comprehensive systems programming, and a flight model which mimics the real aircraft within 1% of real-world performance data, all of which come together to create an incredibly immersive experience. If this is not enough for $44.95, and you really really want to sit next to a lav and gaze out the window. head on over to your own bathroom, grab your laptop and have a seat. Don't forget to bring a bag of salty nuts and a $4 can of soda.
