Switching to X-Plane

Featured Replies

Has anyone seen a screenshot of Xplane 10, I have been looking and can't find even one? It is supposed to come out this year, but there isn't any sort of preview available anywhere.I have high hopes for Xplane but until I can fly into Tampa International and see even a building, I have to stick with FSX.

X-Plane's virtual cockpit leaves a lot to be desired.
X-Plane's poor virtual cockpits have nothing to do with X-Plane limitations, it's just the fact that there's been very little emphasis on making VCs.
That's a current aircraft in development.

Again not everyone that simulates is into airliners and exterior models. Realism is relative. If you can run fsx on your computer you certainly can run xplane. Xplane runs equally well for the very reasons you mention-it models other things. If you are into wing flex and exterior models there is no doubt that fsx is a better platform. If you are into systems failures, icing, instrument approaches, being able to skirt bad weather by using onboard weather prevention-xplane might be better. But one thing is for sure certain-if you have the power to run fsx on your computer you certainly have the power to run xplane. As I mentioned before-I still prefer fsx...but there are some things that fsx can't do that xplane does and for those I prefer xplane. Why not have them both-it really isn't a contest? :(
The PC is quite different from most computers. It only has the power to run only one simulator, and FSX is the only one I have running. But when I get it overhauled I'll get X-Plane for sure. :(

While X-Plane is a great sim, I could never get used to the Langoliers effect of being the only plane in the world... too lonely for my tastes..
This would be my objection too. In fact, until MSFS introduced active AI, I soon tired of them too and only came back when active AI was introduced. . . . very strange being the only active one in a big wide world. . . as you say . . . lonely

Until X-Plane fixes their VCs and adds some AI on it I'm going to stick with FSX. Then we'll talk. But still, I'd rather go with a two-platform simulator: FS9 and FSX. When FS11 goes up the stage FS9 will soon go dead, and so will X-Plane (well, someday). Let's just wait until FS11 and XP11 go against each other in the near future.

Fixes their cockpits"? FS11? lolEh?There are already some aircraft in X-Plane that rival and surpass many FSX VC's. FS11? Eh?X-Plane go dead?Do you think the success of X-Plane depends on how well/how poorly the FS Series does? lol

Well, someday. In the near future though, both developers will have to be aware of Aerosoft's Flight Simulator 2012. The 747 VC in X-Plane is well below FSX's redention of the jumbo. The future of the MSFS series is still in doubt, yet Microsoft has stated that they remained committed the the franchise, which means that MSFS isn't dead at all. If the next version goes beyond X-Plane's knowledges it'll be hard for XP to challenge them.

Any that have actually been released yet? Yeah yeah I've seen the CRJ video - and it does look impressive. But the MU2, Falco, BK117 cockpits don't look any better than the PMDG J41, F1 Mustang, RealAir Duke etc etc....Sure there are crappy FSX VC's, but there's a heck of a lot more planes WITH VC's in FSX than XP.Give me:A ) High fidelity VC'sB ) Decent ATCC ) Good stock airport sceneryand I'll switch to XP

The aircraft department seems to be slowly catching up but the scenery department is definately behind.Since Rex just came out this week, a gex/utx and ulitimate traffic II would do wonders...I agree though-though there is much I like in xplane and try to like-it is still definately behind...
>>The aircraft department seems to be slowly catching up<<Ouch, Geoff, are you nuts? There's a reason many "smaller" simulator companies are using X-Plane. Shame on you. You wont find a better software package under $300.00 that closely resembles true flight dynamics. Wow........ Please refrain from misleading folks.Mitch

Umm..So the aircraft development is catching up quickly, eh? :(

Yeah, Arklight1, if you give me those fully clickable button VCed-aircraft then it's gonna worth those 500 bucks. Otherwise, I'll stick with MSFS and go ahead with PMDG's and Captain Sim's models instead, got it?

1) No need for these comments. There's no misleading going on here. It's called an opinion.2) "Shame on you" for what? Having an opinion? That's assinine.3) There's also a heck of a lot of training centers using FSX (ESP) in their RedBird simulators. I use the one at CRG quite frequently, and I've seen several throughout the southeast where I visit.
And I understand this as you simply fly a single engine airplane in real life.Folks, for realism, not scenery, you wont find a better platform than Xplane. Its not even debatable...
1) I'm pretty sure it IS debatable, which may explain why there are countless DEBATES on the topic throughout the web.2) Unless an engine fell off I believe his B55 is still a twin.

Mitch (deltaflight),I've had a look at your various posts here.It seems like you have nothing to ever contribute, you just to come to Avsim and make rude, disrespectful or insulting posts.Next alert and you are out. It's up to you.
