I'm pretty certain there would be some form of 'non-compete' restriction that they agreed to before their hiring at ACES to begin with.
That figures, Kinda leaves employees of Aces swinging in the wind.

I suggest the main obstacle is for ex-ACES staff to demonstrate that they haven't infringed any of Microsoft's rights.I don't know about the US, but in the UK 'non-compete' restrictions are very hard to enforce in the courts.

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if MS did whatever they could to mess with them. Look up the history between Microsoft and Linux to see what I mean.

This isn't the UK and non-compete is easily enforced.

Microsoft is in Washington... enforceable."WashingtonAccording to Racine v. Bender, CNCs will be enforced by courts if they are validly formed and reasonable.[7] There are exceptions, like in Labriola v. Pollard Group, Inc., where the Washington Supreme Court invalidated a CNC not supported by independent consideration by strictly enforcing the pre-existing duty rule.[8]"

To cut a long story short........be prepared to stick with FSX for a long time. That's fine by me.

Well, E3's over...and no details on fsLivedm
Honestly, I doubt they would have made the announcement at E3. I suspect they are either going to surprise us or they will wait for a more aviation orientated event. E3 tends to be more for the general gaming population. It's rare to see simulations being featured there that much.

And no news out of Cascade yet. Guess they haven't found investors, maybe.
I will invest

Personally I wouldn't expect much news from them for another year or so. Software development takes a lot of time, especially when working on a lower budget and from scratch.

Disagree. News (read: marketing) is productive and is in no way related to budget. Why would they start a Facebook group? Why would they bother doing interviews? So far, they've announced... nothing. I feel pretty strongly that if it takes a year, there will be no news.
