July 29, 201015 yr Moderator well we hopeHis profile says he was last seen yesterday at 4:30, so hopefully he has read some of this. It always kind of gets me though when someone posts a plea for help, gets a bunch of replies with solutions, then never comes back to their post to offer a thanks, or to at least say they will give the solutions a try and will report back. I am sure he will come back and thank all of you for your help.I think it would be a great idea to have a "poke" button ala MS Messener to remind some of our friends that we have not forgotten about them.Have a great day everyone. \Robert Hamlich/

July 29, 201015 yr Commercial Member When it first asks you where you want to install FSX. C:/(X86)/program files/..... Change it to your raptor drive E:/program files or what ever you named it. Even on my system I max out the scenery complexity to Extremely dense and keep the Autogen to normal. If not I get trees at the end of some runways that shouldnt be there. Water on Low 2x. All the way up , looks odd sometimes. Use Nicks guide as a starting point. http://www.simforums.com/forums/forum_post...-how-to-tune-itFollow it step by step and dont skip anything. Your going to have to OC that rig and make sure the ram is running at proper speeds and timings. Run Prime95 and Intel Burntest. Get the PC 100% stable before you even mess with FSX or you will get BSOD's and other anomalies that are unrelated to FSX.Thats a beast of a system and is going to need tuned. I was so excited when I built my rig that I jumped right in too and was disapointed with the performance. I think I installed and uninstalled FSX and Addons 5 times until I got it right. Expect about 3-4 weeks of pi$$ing with your system until you get it ironed out. Its been about 5 months now since I even cracked my case open. When you get where you think it is acceptable, Copy Bojote's FSX cfg file over yours and behold the FSX pandora. Save this for last. http://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?showtop...mp;hl=bjote+cfg AG=NORMAL is where leave it. I also restrict buildings to 800 in fsx.cfg. This was recommended by the folks at FTX as it still allows for realistic tree densities in PNW.jja Jim Allen[email protected]SkyPilot Software home of FSXAssist / P3DAssist
July 31, 201015 yr I admit, I got my overclock done by the shop - you should be able to get to 4ghz with that rig, with stability, and you'll like the result. If you can afford it, get the thing clocked by a local pc specialist. There are loads of webbys with advice, but frankly, life is short, and overclocking is long...Get rid of NHancer, you won't need it, especially if you're overclocked.Try setting the frame limiter in FSX to say 25/27/30 (experiment a bit) - it can make a huge difference to stutters. There's an external version you can play with, but I'm not sure it makes a bucketload of difference.Stick with it. FSX, especially with PNW, is as close as you can get to the real thing at present. Love it. Paul Skol

Love it.I tried that new 258.96 (not 69) driver with really nice IQ without nHancer which I'd rather not use. This driver fixes the AA no workee bug.jja Jim Allen[email protected]SkyPilot Software home of FSXAssist / P3DAssist
August 1, 201015 yr I have not even tried the 258.96.Can you confirm that AA works with the latest control panel? or Do I need try it myself?Jose MSFS

It looks better than nHancer forced 8s Combined. Performance is great.jja Jim Allen[email protected]SkyPilot Software home of FSXAssist / P3DAssist
August 1, 201015 yr AA DOES NOT work with the latest control panel. I'm not surprised. They didn't work at first for me either. Don't know if it was because I had been using NickN's 16x tweak with the sli tool but uninstalling the driver with the control panel, then rebooting, then using driver cleaner, then rebooting, then installing the 258.96 driver fixed it.I'm now running 16x ansio, 8xQ antialiasing, and 8x antialiasing transperancy (supersample). Its looking and working with the hawtness! :(

Cleaned the registry with CCleaner Ended up using 4x with SuperSampling Transparency. Can now fly in heavy clouds no problem.jja Jim Allen[email protected]SkyPilot Software home of FSXAssist / P3DAssist
