Does anyone ever see AI Planes fall from the sky or crash?

Featured Replies

I have seen World of AI planes fall from the sky and crash, but does anyone know if planes from Ultimate Traffic 2 or MyTraffic 2010 do the same? Also where do the crashes usually happen in the game? (example: near what airport or location and with which airline or aircraft and if it happens in WoAI, UT2, MT2010, or any other AI proram.)

I've never seem them fall from the sky like you put it, but I have seen planes some times land short of the runway which sometimes can be in water or in a hill then emerge from it and taxi the rest of the way.I've experienced this in FS9 and FSX using WOAI, Ultimate Traffic for FS9 and Ultimate Traffic 2 for FSX.I will say this however, it's something that I see happen maybe only 1 every 100 flights and I dont think its anything to do with the AI packages, but more to do with the way FS9 and FSX sometimes handle AI when a flight is first created. I never see it happen after a flight has been open for 1/2 and hour or so. I think somethimes the sim just needs a little extra time to sort the AI out, because once it has been running for a while the weird things like that seem to stop.

I've seen planes nose dive into the water and seen them land short of runways (up to 10Nm short). It probably has something to do with where they spawn and where they need to be. If a plane spawns at 10000' and needs to be at 2000' for an approach with 5 miles this is going to cause problems for the AI plane.I've even had planes appear 1000Nm away from their route. All I know for certain is that FS does some weird #&?! sometimes

Seen one of those before but they end up still flying and look like two wales humping in the air from a distance, lol.

I have heard that AI aircraft can perform improperly at the start of an FSX session, but there should not be problems once everything settles down. I am aware of a problem with some airports revised with ADE where the instrument approach altitude gets changed to 0 feet. This can be caused by importing an ADE work file or .bgl created by an older version of ADE into the current version of ADE with "Approach Mode" then saving it as a .bgl file in FSX. If you have problems at an airport with aircraft continually landing miles short of the runway and then taxiing to the runway, ADE can be used to check the approach altitudes and fix them. This problem does not affect GA aircraft flying VFR.

I haven't seen that yet but I'm waiting for a midair between AI and my AC.

Go to LOWI (Innsbruck) and I guarantee you'll see them crashing into the surrounding mountains on departure. It's quite easy to see the departure crashes. You only have to follow the departing plane in slew mode or even only zooming them in VC mode. They will also crash into the mountains on arrival, but it's off course a bit harder to spot. This is valid for FS9 and FSX assuming you haven't installed the great "Approaching Innsbruck" by Aerossoft, which solves this problem.Wolfgang

I've noticed some of my woAI planes do this. I find that Air Canada Jazz and Express Planes either flying Vancouver Seattle or Vancouver Kelowna reach their cruising altitude, then the plane starts nose-diving into the ground, then they diasppear... It's scary - almost every 1 in 3 ai planes crash in canada for me...

UT2 user here, I see Piper Cubs taxiing around, actually wandering around, even taxiing under water, through structures and terrain, really weird behavior.  If they make it to the active and line up, not just taxi across and continue their off-road adventure, they sometimes take to the sky, but at other times they just bounce along the runway, past the threshold and go on another off-road adventure.  The Maule seems a lot less prone to this sort of behavior and I've not seen this happen with any of the larger aircraft.  I've not seen any just drop from the sky, but I have seen some really hard landings.

If you ask me, every 2nd or 3rd AI landing is a crash (touchdown at -500/-600fpm or more).

Current system: ASUS PRIME Z690-P D4, Intel 12900k, 32GB RAM @ 3600mhz, Zotac RTX 3090 Trinity, M2 SSD, Oculus Quest 2.

I've tried some flying in formation with AI aircraft.  It can be rather challenging, but fun.  It's imporant to use a faster plane, or the AI plane will end up leaving you behind.  On one occasion I flew in formation with an AI plane (C172) from takeoff for about half an hour.  It flew all over the place, and ended up landing at another airport.  On another occasion, the AI plane took off and promptly flew right into the side of a mountain.
