Captain Sim 707 Out

Featured Replies

Thank you Tim for your detailed descriptions. I have purchased the aircraft and have no regrets, have too much to do waiting for 1.1 release (so no probs here). The beast is worth every penny I spent.

It is kind of on the pricey side, but to be fair, I think the days of '30 quid' add-ons that are anything other than 'lite' airliner sims or fairly simple aircraft, are long gone, so the price is more like what we can expect to pay nowadays for a decent in depth simulated aircraft.
Agree with Alan.

Stan

The more I fly this airplane, the more I discover why this is a different kind of CS release. For example, hydraulic pumps must be on or flaps won't work; but the emergency flaps switch on the overhead will make them work. Fuel dumping is possible. And I am really appreciating the super high def in the VC:
Hi Tim...thanks for the information. I love my CS 727 in many ways, but was really disappointed with the sounds, and was considering the TSS set for FS9 to use in FSX for that.....but, for the 707, it had such a unique whine and loudness to it---how is the soundset? For me, the soundsets are worth $20 alone if they are spot on--and without such, I'm going to have to wait. So, how are the sounds?ThanksBillKGSP

Bill, I think the sounds are okay, but they don't compare to TSS. For one thing, there aren't the positional cones. I guess the sounds don't blow me away, now that I have third-party sounds for some of my aircraft, but I don't notice anything particularly lacking. Could I be more wishy-washy? I'll give an example, the Quality Wings 757 sounds impressed me right away. I'm just not getting that same kind of vibe. Right now I'm more concerned about figuring out how to work the doppler navigation system completely. Captain Sim has even said they may -- gasp -- provide a tutorial for the DNS.

Is there support for adding CIVA ins in the VC?

  • Author

I don't think there is support in the VC for the CIVA. That is something I would enjoy seeing.

I've installed this beauty today.I didn't have enough time to make a full flight but was very pleased during my first contact with this 707.The VC is spectacular and the external textures give justice to the beautiful old Pan Am livery.I was impressed so far by the TO and landing where one can feel the weight and the power of the bird.Nice aircraft, well done CS!Now let's read the manual! They still need to work the kinks out of the doppler navigation system, methinks.

The right time to buy or wait and hold off until the first patch?Although going by previous releases from CS that could be a while.

This is their cleanest release by far, in my opinion. I have been having a lot of fun with it. The only significant issue is manual operation of the doppler navigation system, which they're working on. It will still follow an FSX flight plan. I don't regret my purchase, but I'm sure 1.1 will be better. Their last offering, the 767 had patches come out in relatively quick successsion. There's quite a bit to do during flight, with fuel management, keeping track of speed, etc. It isn't a perfect release, but I think it's worth a purchase. I guess it depends on your patience for having a few minor issues and the manual use of the doppler ironed out. There are no crippling problems.

How does it work - can you use it without loading a flight in the FSX flight planner?

You should share because no one else has gotten it to work that I know of.
