I've been saying that about my PMDG J41 since release.Sloppy coding?
If it happened generally, yes. Personally I've never seen it, and PMDG never claimed it was something you had to expect with FSX.

Claiming that something can potetially occur does not mean their add-on is causing it. Again, if the issue was widely experienced, their forum would have more talk of it.I think I was editing my post above while you were responding.

Of course. My original post was in response to this from post #10 above: The OP could have gone to the forums and been told that there's no reason to re-format by other users. Once he gets his new activation key, the aircraft is going to crash FSX even with a clean install upon exit.

PMDG never crashed my PC, not J41 not 747 (I didn't go for MD11... yet). But Airbus X did until the latest update (1.11). Of course that was not acceptable that's why they solved that problem :( I don't think any payware product should CTD anything.. you payed for it (and in Ariane case you really paid it).

It sounds like you are suggesting that FSX simply can't cause the crash.I've had the crash on exit with the PMDG J41 since release. Does that make the add-on a byproduct of sloppy coding, or is it possible that FSX and my rig may not mix to well with that particular add-on? If an add-on has an inherent flaw, than everybody, or at least a sizable majority, should experience it.
In fact most, if not all, such crashes on FSX termination are due to the use of multithreading without sufficient interlocks being used, to ensure that a thread which is still running does not access others which have terminated or freed the resources it is using. Or worse, gets terminated forcibly (so easy to do in Windows) whilst waiting a return from another, still live, thread.Given that whether it crashes or not then purely depends on the timings of events in the assorted parallel threads, you will understand that it may or may not happen at all, or intermittently, and may be exacerbated or relieved by more or less loading in the way of graphics, scenery, aircraft complexity, and of course FS settings. My own FSUIPC and WideFS are themselves multithreaded and I know the sorts of problems which can arise. And it isn't solely the FSX environment which suffers such problems -- FS9 does too, as do earlier releases. It becomes less noticeable the simpler the environment is, and of course FSX + AddOns is as complex as it gets.I have many add-ons running in my FSX setup -- no complex aircraft as I use a hardware cockpit and Project Magenta instead -- but most of the other stuff. The only crash I get on exit is in AIPlayer.DLL and I know this is due to the activities of the UT2 control program which of course is not just in a different thread but a different process too! Not that it's UT2's fault -- it should obviously be the job of SimConnect to protect FSX from accesses from external programs which might address extinct resources. However, evidently in their haste to get the product out, there are lots of such protective niceties missing in FSX. Then it unfortunately becomes encumbant on the application developer to work out methods of keeping his access into FSX safe. I'm sure something could be done in the UT2 exe to prevent termination crashes, but I assume they have better things to do and, after all, the result of a termination crash is that the program stops running, which is what the user wanted in any case. The main unwanted side effect, though, is that any changes to the FSX.CFG file probably aren't saved.Best RegardsPete Dowson

Hello,Suggestion at Post#30 of this thread, resulted in FSUI.dll fatal error crash at exit with ariane 737-700Er X2.5.I mentioned in the opening thread that, the error is present while switching aircraft in FSX as well, and is not limited to crash at exit from FSX.Thanking you,Best Regards,Aftab.

Definition of insanity, "Performing the same dysfunctional behavior, And expecting different results" . It's amazing how new customers of of a certain company try to re write history. Those of us that have been around these forums for a while, do not forget. And I will be quiet,And "Keep My Mouth Shut" When that company reduces the price of It's 737 by 75%, and improves its business policy's toward customers.
Lol, ain't that the truth. But I'm just gonna not say anything at all.

I've never had FSX crash with a default aircraft nor with any add-on aircraft - although I admit I have relatively simple add-ons or ones I've written myself. If an add-on crashes FSX it's surely the fault of the add-on?

.... If an add-on has an inherent flaw, than everybody, or at least a sizable majority, should experience it. It was stated above that the Ariane forum does not seem to have a large amount of people with this same problem. Therefore, it is reasonable to suggest that FSX could be a major player in the issues presence....
It happens to me with the Ariane 737 and only the Ariene. If you look carefully at their "support" forums, you'll see that others are experiencing it as well. I think I saw a question in there about it from a year ago and was never answered. I'm new at this simming thing and Ariane was the first add-on I bought. That experience left a bad taste in my mouth. It wasn't until I started buying the other developer's products that I started having respect for add-on makers. Listen, I don't have a dog in this fight. I don't really care. I'm just sayin that this was my experience.

Just to add a fresh perspective.. OrbX/FTX has for some time been aware that their PNW addon causes FSX to crash as one is exiting.... They are working on a patch. :(

That's strange my suggestion causes a crash. Have you tried deleting the FSX.cfg file and lettig the sim rebuild a new one?

Hello,I deleted the fsx.cfg file and let FSX build a new one, but there is no change whatsoever, FSX keeps exiting with fatal error message of various kinds, of course, only when Ariane 737-700ER x2.5 is selected.Thanking You,Best Regards,Aftab.

Hmmm, IIRC, the G3D error relates to the scenery library. I did a search regarding that error and it seems to inflict a number of people across various add-ons in both FS9 as well as FSX. I am wondering if the scenery Ariane is including with their aricraft (the tug, stairs, cart, etc..) might be causing this. I noticed online that the folks who use the most in-depth add-ons seem to experience it the most. You said, "fatal error message of various kinds", what other errors are you getting?

Hello,Second virgin install of FSX and Ariane 737-700ER x2.5 gave G3d.dll error immediately upon exit, and switching between Airane and other default FSX aircrafts , after that, an error came up with FSUI.dll, without any addon being added to FSX, later fsforce addon was added to FSX and now the error includes fsforce has unloaded at FSX exit, of course, when Ariane 737-700ER X2.5 is the selected Airplane.Regardless all these error are comming up with Ariane 737-700er x2.5., if a flight is selected with FSX default aircraft or any other addon aircraft other than Ariane 737-700ER x 2.5, FSX runs Flawless.Thanking You,Best Regards,Aftab.
