September 3, 200322 yr Author OK I have thrown a couple of ideas into one bin, this is what I got - it's absolutely amazing! it looks like ALL that is possible in Internet Explorer is also possible on the kneeboard!http://www.westerntrainer.de/fs/fsscr003.jpgDOWNLOAD the mod right herehttp://www.westerntrainer.de/fs/vpn.zip-------------------MeatWaterProfessional Audio 4 Entertainmentwww.meatwater.com -------------------- Nick Schreger MeatWater
September 3, 200322 yr Author ########## SUGGESTION ##########In order to prevent chaos even before it occurs I'd like to suggest a few standards we should stick to concerning this web-thingie:- we should give this a name, I suggest "VPN" which stands for "Virtual Pilot Network"- when creating stuff for VPN, designers/programmers should stick to some standards to take the pain out of installing, modifying and uninstalling VPN contentAll files that are related to one project shall carry a unique 5 digit number at the beginning of it's filename, and all files should be referring to a folder called vpn_content. This folder will reside inside the MAIN FS2004 folder.Filename example: 73674_mainframe.htm or 73674_beforestartup.wav- when adding flash content, make sure the flash movies are in low quality format. YOu will not notice this visually, but that way it won't affect framerates at all!- make sure all external links point to the _self frameLet me know what you think of this, and if it's any good AVSIM might put a notice on the front page about this...-------------------MeatWaterProfessional Audio 4 Entertainmentwww.meatwater.com -------------------- Nick Schreger MeatWater
September 3, 200322 yr i like your VPN meatwater can you plz email it to [email protected] I7-10700F RTX 3070 32 Gig Ram
September 3, 200322 yr Meatwater, I have another idea. Pershaps we should open a website, for example www.virtual-pilot-network.net. If a user opens kneeboard, he/she will be redirected to that domain. On that website we would put best METAR links etc. I'm not sure, but I belive I can manage to get enough powerful webserver.
September 3, 200322 yr Author The problem I see there is that we would not be allowed to feature external content there. The only way to do it legally would be to link directly to the content providers.I am already building some sort of Website, but simply as a place where people can inform themselves about this feature and download so called "VPN Content", e.g. sets of preconfigured pages. It is VERY basic and looks like crap but heck, I don't have the time to make it better - not now.See www.vpncentral.ch.vuI wonder what others think about your idea?!-------------------MeatWaterProfessional Audio 4 Entertainmentwww.meatwater.com -------------------- Nick Schreger MeatWater
September 3, 200322 yr >We need a guage like the GPS that is a miniture version of Internet >Explorer...>>Someone will create it... Then you don't have to insert links, it >could be a full browser with an address Input line.. Access to your >Favorites, ETC.I don't believe this IE control has all those features. I think the favorites are only contained within the standalone version, because that is part of the main IE dialog.Entering the URL may be possible though.Regards.Ernie.
September 3, 200322 yr >Hmm. Noting so sensational to me. :S It's just a IE "minibrowser". Well I agree with ya there, I knew what it was from day one. Its the same IE control being used by the Help pages. What's amazing is it took everyone so long to discover it.But ya gotta admit it does open up a lot of possibilities now that people are finding out about it.I'm really interested to see what people come up with.Regards.Ernie.
September 3, 200322 yr Author Does anybody know how a communication between FSUIPC and VPN could be established? What I'm after is the ability to send status reports (location, fuel consumption etc.) over the net right from the kneeboard. That'd be interesting to a lot ov VA's I think.BTW, what wonders me is that how someone can know about this and not go #### about it right away, telling even granny about it leave alone the flightsim community :) :)Well I just couldn't keep me jaws shut, and I think it's good-------------------MeatWaterProfessional Audio 4 Entertainmentwww.meatwater.com -------------------- Nick Schreger MeatWater
September 3, 200322 yr It looks to me like a lot of people are going bananas!Probably missed because many people don't ever bother to use the kneeboard at all. I have seen it not noticed much either that all atc calls and instructions are recorded on the kneeboard for later review!http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/Geofdog2.jpg Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
September 3, 200322 yr GeofA,Just didn't realize that the Kneeboard is HTML or really a mini browser.. Thats the ticket..Barry
September 3, 200322 yr As long as it is commercial free! No Ads or Banners...I think just having the address line, that keeps history or a link directly to favorites and history is all I need...Barry
September 3, 200322 yr Hi Carlos-What sites do you visit for weather & charts?Great find!Thanx,Howard Howard Jetline Systems: Intel 8th Gen Core i7 8700K (4.8GHz Overclock); GTX 1080 Ti; LG Curved UltraWide 3440x1440 Monitor .

People are dreaming up all sorts of grandiose ideas that in the end will prove rather impractical.I think the best purpose this will serve is as a quick way to retrieve information without having to leave the FS window. For me not important since I have a 2nd laptop for this purpose. But for those using a single PC I think it will be very usefull.Regards.Ernie.
