October 8, 201015 yr If the Saitek is junk, I must have gotten a good one :( Mine has been very solid and has performed flawlessly the last 4 months. My only complaint is the lack of tension adjustment...it's tighter than I would like. But what reasonably priced yoke is ever going to feel like the real thing? If you find one, let me know. Given the large number of assignable buttons, solid feel, digital clock in the center, good clamping mechanism, and separate throttle quadrant, I'm willing to overlook the tension issue. For me, the CH pedals were just too clunky, the pedals were practically horizontal, and the whole thing slid around at full pedal deflection, particularly when you're on the brakes. And I couldn't tolerate the gimmicky look and "perceived" operation of the Saitek pedals. But the Logitech pedals, on the other hand, look pretty nice compared to the alternatives. Can't speak for how realistic they are, but it appears they might be worth a good look. Hope this helps. Tony
October 9, 201015 yr I'm flying with the G940 and I must say I'm not entirely satisfied with it. It's a pain to calibrate it and when you have everything set-up, it might still sometimes forget everything in the middle of a flight and you have to recalibrate the thing every 2 weeks....Try installing latest software and firmware, I don't have such problems.
October 9, 201015 yr Commercial Member Joysticks and Nintendo Wii sticks are for Airbus pilots. This is what you want:http://www.737yoke.com/products.htmlIt's the real deal.Cheers, B. York FS2Crew Web Site / FS2Crew Facebook Page / FS2Crew Discord
October 9, 201015 yr You could also go for this one :http://www.thrustmaster.com/product.aspx?ProductID=221&PlatformID=5I own the older "Cougar" version and enjoy it a lot. You can map all the important MCP functions (Speed, Hdg, Altitude, VS) on your joystick/throttles so that you don't need to use the mouse anymore (which is pretty annoying). The new "Warthog" version sounds quite promising. So if you don't have the room (and money) for things like column yokes or hardware MCPs it's a good solution !As for the "stick vs yoke dilemma" it's up to you. I find the stick to be more enjoyable than the yoke although it's harder to master (speaking of Sim and real life). I'd say the stick is "sport" while the yoke is "comfort".The desk congestion factor applies once again.Rudder pedals are a must, Saitek's aren't too bad Jean-Charles Montagne

You should buy brand new Boeing 737NG!! It's the real deal!!Cheers.PS: I'm very sorry but I don't like this kind of attitude even if it was joke which I didn't get, its cool You can afford such toy, but this thread is about "joy vs yoke", not about home cockpit for the price of small aircraft.Regards.
October 9, 201015 yr Author You know, I really would love to get that column yoke and that CDU I was looking at a while ago from a 747-400 for about $400 but I just can't right now. Take a look at the prices for the 747 column yoke:NoImageProductPriceQuantityShipping CostTotal Remove1B747 Yoke$ 1,250.00 $ 300.00$ 1,250.00 Grand Total$ 1,550.00 * To change product quantity: Type a new number in the corresponding Qty field.* To delete a product: Click the Red X icon beside the corresponding product. But anyway, thanks for the opinion bryan, I personally prefer a yoke over stick as I believe it's more 'comforting' but hey, whatever is more realistic. At this point on the topic, i'ver heard very nice and very bad opinions on either product (G940 Vs. SaitekPF) and I am more on the side of the Saitek Pro Flight just because it's the only inexpensive one, and it does not look too bad at all. The only thing I do not like is those ugly pedals! The CH one's look cooler and more real but do they slide alot? I need something VERY sturdy since I am on the carpet. If Saitek doesn't have sturdy rudder pedals than that will do it for me, i'm getting the G940! Now I looked at the thrustmaster on this website: http://www.thrustmaster.com/product.aspx?ProductID=221&PlatformID=5, and it looked quite promosing but why isn't it in English? How would I get support for the product if it should brake?

How would I get support for the product if it should brake? That's probably due to their website design as far as language is concerned (I'm in France) but it's american made and VERY sturdy !Just type thrustmaster in google and you'll have the english version. The joystick is designed from the F-16 and the throttle/panel from the A-10C (maybe because of the upcoming release of DCS A10C). You can therefore use it for any aircraft and the dual throttle is quite nice compared to the older "Cougar" version, it would come quite handy for the 737... Jean-Charles Montagne
October 9, 201015 yr About G940 rudder pedals: I have them lying on floor panels, they are in exactly the same place where I've placed them two weeks ago, actually I have a problem with my chair rolling away... And another one drawback of G940: I have no idea how other sets are constructed, but with G940 the joystick is host to pedals and throttles that are connect to it via COM-alike connectors, so You wont be able to use them separately.
October 9, 201015 yr Why not go for a Precision Flight Controls yoke? They are probably the most realistic. You can get a good yoke for about 500 dollars:
October 9, 201015 yr Author http://www.flypfc.com/index.php?mn_id=29&dn_id=2I'd really like to buy that but I need to buy rudder pedals, and a throttle quadrant so the problem is that the budget limits me to certain items. As of right now, all i'm really concidering would be the SaitekPFYS, and the G940. If I get the SaitekPFYS, then i'll be getting their pedals as well because sadly, I can't just go out and buy the G940 pedals seperatly because they connect to the G940 stick... If I were to get the G940, with all the software updates that they've had, is the centering for still bad? If I was to buy that stick, I would buy it directly from the site.
October 9, 201015 yr Saitek has two sets of pedals now. The standard one and "combat" pedals, modeled after some fighter. You should give a look. Felipe Andrade at SBSP
October 9, 201015 yr Hi Derian, Topics like this don't really draw so much attention because people want to help as much as "we" are men, and men like toys too! :Big Grin:It draws people in to show off things they only wish they could own (me too of course). I see you have $400. The only thing I can say is $400 in is $400 out, which means take your time and base your decision on what you think would be the better investment. If you buy a jet fighter stick and don't think you'll use any military aircraft or use it for other things, then maybe just get something cheap for now to fill the gap and invest more of the coin in your other needs, like the peddals you mentioned. I only say this because compulsion is my middle name and now a days I try to use my money more wisely and not get anything I am truly wanting with a passion. The yokes above are sweet, but unless I had a room dedicated just for simming would be too much of a hassle to get out of the way for other things I use my comp for. I have the Saitek and it is a great, cheap gap filler until I decide to go for the gold again.Look at 4:10 in this vid and look at the cheapy I'm using, hehe. I'm more than content with it and suits my purposes just fine. But while so many are already going way above what you can afford, allow me to do the same in saying,,, the hell with a yoke, get a bigger screen or more of them :wink:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aUHCg1Zbz-M&feature=player_embeddedUs boys, will never get tired of toys seems to be the better theme for this topic (Insert Tim Allen grunt here).Edit: The gold for me is the one Bryan York posted and have wanted that for a while now. i9 10920x @ 4.8 ~ MSI Creator x299 ~ 256 Gb 3600 G.Skill Trident Z Royal ~ EVGA RTX 3090ti ~ Sim drive = M.2 2-TB ~ OS drive = M.2 is 512-gb ~ 5 other Samsung Pro/Evo mix SSD's ~ EVGA 1600w ~ Win 10 Pro Dan Prunier

October 9, 201015 yr I bought the CH products yoke, TQ, and pedals a couple of years ago and love them, I replaced my X52 with them. It took a few flights to get used to rudder pedals but the whole setup makes hand flying approaches and following the ptichbar to cruise after takeoff a lot easier. I can't speak for the saitek yoke as I have never tried it. Dan Schultz REX Latitude BETA Team Member https://rexlatitude.com
