October 11, 200322 yr I just spent about 15 minutes with this plane and crashed numerous times. Mind you, I did abuse this plane ;) That's the big difference for me: other flight models are so forgiving that no matter what you do, you can always recover without problems. This flight model is absolutely outstanding :) Now I'm really looking forward to the SF.260 update, and the Super Decathlon ...VOlker :]
October 11, 200322 yr Rob, Sean:Thank you very much for this great add!Installation went smoothly and my first flight with your C172sp was equally smooth.Steve J.
October 11, 200322 yr Author You can adjust the wind sound without recourse to the aircraft config, though there's no harm in that advice. The wind sound is linked to the environment sound slider in the Fs2004 sound menu. You can adjust relative volumes between the engine noise and wind noise by changing those sliders. For those having trouble finding the link, the new C172 is in the Fs2004 original aircraft section and the file name is RASC172_fs9.zip.Many thanks for the positive feedback. We appreciate it!Rob - RealAirSimulations Robert Young - retired full time developer - see my Nexus Mod Page and my GitHub Mod page
October 11, 200322 yr Rob,This FDE shows that FS can do a fair job in simulating GA light props.Do you think an FDE of similar quality can be produced for a medium or heavy jets? Or is the platform just too limited for these types of aircraft?//Mike
October 11, 200322 yr On ya, Bro..Another great Realair flight model. Now I`m really hangin` out for the SF260 update too - and the Decathlon!!Thanks RobRegardsRottenlungs
October 11, 200322 yr Author HI Mike,"Do you think an FDE of similar quality can be produced for a medium or heavy jets? Or is the platform just too limited for these types of aircraft?"It depends whether you are talking about general handling or precise engine performance, or both. The Eaglesoft Beechjet flies, I think most agree, reasonably well, and there is still life in the Falcon 50, but these are perhaps smaller than the jets you were thiking of.I haven't tackled larger jets seriously yet, although I do have private tweaks of the B737 for my own use in FS2004. One of the restrictions in FS2004 (FS2002) is that Yaw is a single control whether you are on the ground or airborne, thus large amounts of yaw inertia in the air translates to very sloppy ground handling.FS4 actually had seperate ground routines which meant you could steer with "grip" on the ground and have a seperate yaw routine for actual flight. Like all these things, much is possible but it is extremely time consuming. The new C172 update might not seem much different to the Fs2002 version, but I started work on this during the FS2004 beta, so it's taken a very long time!Regards,Rob Young Robert Young - retired full time developer - see my Nexus Mod Page and my GitHub Mod page
October 11, 200322 yr Rob and Sean, Just took her out for a spin around KCHO and all I can say is; congratulations! You have done it again. A superb model. Power off stall just as I remember it, and the spin entry is excellent. Recovery is excellent. Great job guys!
October 11, 200322 yr Once again RealAir set the standard for FDE's......awesome job Rob & Co....I am a happy owner of your SF.260 and have had great joy out of it and the free C172 in FS2002....it's nice to have the cessna back, one down one to go in FS9 :-)The C172 flys beautifully! and I'm looking forward to the SF.260 updateRegardsDave
October 11, 200322 yr Thanks a lot gentlemen. I've been waiting for this one since FS9 came out. Your efforts are VERY much appreciated.
October 11, 200322 yr Rob and Sean,Thanks so very much for your time, talent, and efforts. Your work made FS2002 sparkle and it's a great pleasure to see your artistry hit FS2004.I guess that it's time to start paying serious attention to FS9.Best to you all,Mike MacKuen --Mike MacKuen
October 11, 200322 yr Thanks Rob,I just downloaded the 2002 version late last night, and thought it was more realistic as I was really getting ticked with the original junk that was in there.I just grabbed the 2004 version, and you guys did a great job. Thanks so much for continuing to contribute to the community. It is much appreciated, and your air files just simply are FANTASTIC.Now I feel like I can keep sharp again with realism without feeling like I had forgotten how to fly. (when flying the default junk.)*********************From the Read Me:"Credits:Aircraft and panel textures, installer CryptoSonar on Twitch & YouTube.
