November 6, 201015 yr Hi there,This learjet looks pretty good, i didnt know about it till yesterday, does anybody have it? Does it work well? :( Just Flight page: http://www.justflight.com/newsDetail.asp?newsid=1770Xtreme Prototypes page: http://20series.xtremeprototypes.com/en/Youtube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nDIneJUBtTgThanks.David Ranieri.
November 6, 201015 yr I've got it, and one of Avsim's experienced real-world jet pilots did a review of it some time back, so that review is worth a look. It's a pretty good package on the whole, good value in terms of how many aircraft you get, and as far as systems go, it's got a fully clickable cockpit which requires you to fly the thing properly and set everything up correctly, because the 20 Series LearJets were more like jet fighters with a leather interior and drinks cabinet than the more modern private jets with their fancy highly-automated systems. The VC is very detailed and accurately modeled in almost every regard, but it does have that 'computer look' to it which some people describe as 'cartoonish', rather than the textured look of something like a Captain Sim VC, so although authentically laid out and very cleanly rendered, it is not what you'd call photo-realistic, although on the plus side, that does mean it runs extremely smoothly despite the complex systems modeling. There are some concessions to how it handles high altitude high mach flight, which make it a little bit easier to fly than the real thing would be in that regime, but not by much, and like the real thing, it has a very high landing speed and can also be a handful to get climbing safely too, so it's not one of the easier planes that you can fly in FSX, which actually makes it a good fun challenge to be honest, especially where fuel management is concerned, which again, is authentic. The engine sounds are a bit lacklustre in comparison to a real one; not desperately bad, but I keep hoping that someone will produce a really good third party sound set for it, as the 20 Series Lears with their low bypass engines can be recognised a mile off with their distinctive jet fighter screaming sounds, and it would be nice if it made that kind of noise on the external views. The manual is very good too by the way - extremely informative in fact.Personally I like it, and I think most people would do too if they gave it a shot. It's certainly one of the best private jets you can get for FS, especially if you have something like Air Hauler, where it is great for short high-speed small cargo runs.Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
November 6, 201015 yr If I actually knew there was a latest service pack, I daresay I could offer them, but since I didn't know, I can't LOLAl Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
November 6, 201015 yr If I actually knew there was a latest service pack, I daresay I could offer them, but since I didn't know, I can't LOLAlI love these jets, I am not an experienced Jet simmer, but I am a pilot in real life, and I love the way these birds fly. You will have to navigate the old fashioned way Vor-Vor, but if you are up for it, it's a really nice package. You have to manage the throttle constantly as these planes want to go too fast. The cockpit night lighting is awesome, and there is no drop in frames at all.The new service pack adds a black livery which is beautiful.
November 6, 201015 yr Author Thanks for the info Al. I might get this one while i wait for pmdg's 737. Hopefully i can touch up the flat textures and look for a better sound set.Ill check out the review as well, thanks again.David.

November 6, 201015 yr Is there reflective glass in the VC? It looks like that is missing, or I just can't seem to see it. Warm regards, Jeff

November 7, 201015 yr With the new version of this aircraft a paintkit was released and first repaints are appearing , i needed a Canadian versionand came up with this after scouting around for some livery ideas , it works with any of the 24 25 or 28 Series and is designed to replace the genreric number 2 paint. It will be uploaded to our file library here at Avsim this weekend .Best CJ
November 7, 201015 yr Hi folks,I purchased this Lear yesterday. On my first flight I managed to turn the 28 into a lawn dart due to fuel management problems. I had a full belly tank that would not transfer to the wing tanks. So, I fueled up the 25. It emptied the left tip tank first, then the left wing tank while leaving the belly tank and both the right wing tank and right tip tank full. The crossflow switch was in the off position. I have tried turning the pumps on even though the manual indicates this product is modeled to use gravity feed. Nothing I have tried seems to produce a symetrical fuel burn. And nothing I have tried will move fuel from the belly tank. Any of you have the same problem? Thanks,Bill "A good landing is one you can walk away from. November 7, 201015 yr I bought it this weekend, and love it. Complex, no. But fun for short regional hops. I like the handling too....feels good.
November 7, 201015 yr Might want to try loading up a default aircraft first if you are having issues with it.Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
November 7, 201015 yr Moderator Has anyone else had a problem with HDG HOLD? For some reason it keeps overshooting the HDG bug and never seems to actually lock... Fr. Bill AOPA Member: 07141481 AARP Member: 3209010556 Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
