Automated Tweaking and Tuning tool for FSX

Featured Replies

Just tried the tweaked fsx.cfg file that Bojote was kind enough to provide.Unfortunately, there is something that it does not like with my Ultimate Traffic. When I start up FSX, I immediately get a window telling me for example:"There are multiple objects with the same title name. They must have unique title names.FIAI100SimObjects\UT Aircraft\Flight One AI100"If I close the window it goes on to my next UT aircraft. I closed 1,000 of these windows to see what would happen before I gave up and went back to my original saved fsx.cfg file. Thanks for the try:RTH

OK. Here is what I have done.In inspecting both my original backup fsx.cfg file compared to the tweaked file I found the following regarding UT Aircraft in the "Main" sections:Original fsx.cfg:[Main]User Objects=Airplane, HelicopterSimObjectPaths.0=SimObjectsAirplanesSimObjectPaths.1=SimObjectsRotorcraftSimObjectPaths.2=SimObjectsGroundVehiclesSimObjectPaths.3=SimObjectsBoatsSimObjectPaths.4=SimObjectsAnimalsSimObjectPaths.5=SimObjectsMiscSimObjectPaths.6=AircraftMaximized=2Location=827,203,1859,981,.DISPLAY1HideMenuNormal=0HideMenuFullscreen=1ProcSpeed=6796PerfBucket=1FIBER_FRAME_TIME_FRACTION=0.18SimObjectPaths.6=SimObjectsUT AircraftSimObjectPaths.7=SimObjectsUT AircraftDisablePreload=1Tweaked fsx.cfg:[Main]DisablePreload=1FIBER_FRAME_TIME_FRACTION=0.18HideMenuFullscreen=1HideMenuNormal=0Location=827,203,1859,981,.DISPLAY1Maximized=2SimObjectPaths.0=SimObjectsAirplanesSimObjectPaths.1=SimObjectsRotorcraftSimObjectPaths.2=SimObjectsGroundVehiclesSimObjectPaths.3=SimObjectsBoatsSimObjectPaths.4=SimObjectsAnimalsSimObjectPaths.5=SimObjectsMiscSimObjectPaths.6=SimObjectsUT AircraftSimObjectPaths.7=SimObjectsUT AircraftUser Objects=Airplane, HelicopterI replaced the "Main" section" of the tweaked file with the original "Main" section from the original backup and the problem went away. I also resubmitted this edited fsx.cfg file to Bojote, and the reply was that the file was optomized and needed no tweaking.Sorry for the bold print. After the cut and paste of the "Main" sections of the files, I don't know how to get rid of it.Respectfully:RTH

Yes sir! The 580 GTX is a powerhouse and is more than FSX can throw at it. Good choice! What kind did you buy?

Bloody awsome, i should of got it when it first came out, my ati 5970 was hopless with fsx also it took me 18 months to figure out i had a faultly card (took 2 months for ati to give me a full refund cant complain lol), when ever it down clocked in 2d mode the drivers would crash, anyway i got a super over clocked evga 580 1536mb, I couldn't wait for the gtx 680 i am more then happy with the gtx 580 even playing bf3 on high settings at a res of 1920x1200 no dramas, ill see what the 680 is like and see if its worth upgrading or just getting another evga 580, track ir is brilliant along with the ch eclipse yoke and pedals! Thanks again!

Hmm... I keep getting this message....

Your request could NOT be processed. Reason: This is an FSX only tool. The file you sent is NOT recognized as a valid fsx.cfg file.

Are you sure it's your FSX.cfg in C:UsersYourUserNameAppDataRoamingMicrosoftFSXfsx.cfg?

Yes sir. I tried it a few times in a row and it eventually worked. :) Dunno what was happening, but it is fine. :( Thanks!

Randy

The frame rate limiter that i was allowed to download, when i install it, does not allow me to do any modefications.

Is it possible to have on for FLIGHT??? I want more FPS (not that it's not high enough).

I have a rather strange experience. On my older computer, an i7 920 with Asus AMD 5870 - video card, Bojotes tweaking tool together with an external FPS limiter, FSX worked very well (although I could only have one monitor running).

I then built a new sim computer, an i5 2500K with an Asus Nvidia 560 video card and now Bojotes tweaked cfg-file makes it unflyable. Loads of microstutters and if I use the FPS limiter Bojote recommends or the other one, the antilag, it becomes even worse. It works much much better with the default fsx.cfg although I am sure I could get it to perform even better with some tweaks. Very strange!

Hey I'm struggling with this same exact issue with an msi GTX560Ti. I used to have a GTX 275 with my hexacore AMD and I never got below 24 frames a second...EVER! Well maybe around New York and Seattle in a thunderstorm, but everywhere else was really smooth and playable. But now with this new card it's very weird. With no limiter I can see my sim hit extremely low frames right when the frame counter is telling me I'm in the 80-100 FPS and even if the frame counter is showing 24-40 frames, it feels really herky-jerky and unplayable. Now I've been playing FSX since I had an 8800GT and I'm very familiar with the tweaking aspect and never before did I have to use a frame limiter and never before did the game seem so...crappy. Let me start at the beginning of this dillema. I've had FSX uninstalled for some time due to hard drive space. Just got a new HD and set up it's own 150GB partition specifically for the sim. Installed the first disks..ran through default flight, installed Acceleration ran through the default flight. Totally unplayable (5-100FPS) with relatively moderate settings. My monitors default resolution is 1360x768 ...so by no means am I coming close to maxing anything out in that regard. I have not installed a single add on yet. Did the tweaking tool and setup external limiter and some others tweaks and with the default flight I'm staying right around the 30FPS mark, but it's not a smooth 30FPS...It's still jerky and in my opinion not playable compared to how it used to play with my old hardware. I'm starting to think that this vid card is not suitable for this sim and I've also noticed that my Windows Experience Index shows my card at 7.1 when my GTX275 was 7.4!?!?...Everything else plays great. This all happened today, so tomorrow I'm going to try some new (different) things and if it's a no go, then I guess it's bye bye to FSX and hello to ....something else like XPlane 10 or Prepar3d. It's really sad because I've got nice addons for FSX. In the meantime, does anybody have any explanation, or better yet a solution to this weird issue? Thanks

I don't have an explanation or solution, but at least something that improved things for me. "Word Not Allowed" started a thread but using the latest beta drivers for Nvidia together with Nvidia Inspector and in Nvidia Inspector setting Vsync refresh rate to 1/2 and FSX's internal fps limiter to half your screens refresh rate (so probably 30 fps as in 60/2).

Unfortunately I don't recall where the thread is posted but while the results for me are far from perfect, at least they dramatically improved the situation.

But I just get so frustrated with FSX that I very seldom use it despite the greatest add-on ever, PMDG 737NGX. I decided to throw in my Asus 5870 again, downloaded the latest driver and just for fun started the eyefiniti mode. I have to 27" monitors running 1920x1080 so I had a 3840 x 1080 display stretched over two screens. Worked simply perfectly! I had some 70-80 fps (in a default airplane), absolutely no stutter and perfect antialiasing. Heaven!!! Then I went to bed, started the sim the next day and tried the same scenario. The "smooth as butter" was completely gone and the fps was like 20-30... Perhaps I should take up quilting instead.

Yeah, I know your frustration buddy and I actually found the thread you are talking about http://forum.avsim.net/index.php?showtopic=369500 ....Your situation though sounds somewhat fixable. If it worked great the night before and now it doesn't, it might be something running in the background on your computer...Like maybe a task setup to run at a certain time. You know, I'm a suspicious sort of person and I was thinking about the possibility of Microsoft planting something on my system to get me to buy into the new "Flight".....Anyway, I'm going to try the steps on that thread after my torrents are done. I'll be back to give any worthy advice if it turns out good.
