Imagine Simulation's KCLT

Featured Replies

Has any one purchased Imagine's KCLT and encountered problems. It seems to eat up frame rate and causes a great deal of stutting and results in the sim being totally unusable. Appreciate if someone has encountered similiar problems and found a possible solution. I am running Win 7, and I have not had a problem with any other of the Imagine's great products, running on the same settings.

I almost bought it and have heard the same thing...very odd, I have always considered there scenery to be top notchnow, I go with FSDreamteam and FlyTampas stuff

Ciao!

I have it as well as their KATL and I get good performance with them both. Maybe try to re-install and if you are still having problems remove the active vehicles. You most likely will not get any support from them as I am still waiting for over a year now for them to fix some issues with KATL and KCLT. If you are using default ATC you may experience issues at KCLT. As far as them being top notch ... well not when you have Fly Tampa and FSDT around. One other thing which is a must for ImagineSim scenery is you will need to mipmap the textures to get rid of the horrible shimmering. I may be bad mouthing them somewhat but all in all I am OK with the scenery after some AFCAD changes and MipMapping it is their total lack of any support that I have a issue with and due to that will not be buying anymore of their scenery.Jim

ahhh so that is the secret. yes I do remember there sceneries shimmered like they were in a paint can shaker!

Ciao!

KCLT is not completely compatible with FSX (or at least FSX w/Acceleration). The problems are most noticeable at night - I get 1FPS at KCLT and I used to get the same at LGA before they fixed it - now I get in the high 20's with full ai, Aerosoft Manhattan and FSDT's JFK running. They claim that they are working on KCLT so watch their site in the next few months. KIAD is going to have the same problem. KLGA, MYNN, KATL, KMCI, TJSJ and KCVG are fine on my system now - all with similar results to LGA after their fix.My advice, COMPLAIN, COMPLAIN, COMPLAIN. Send emails.I told them that I will not buy WSSS until the older products, that they claim are FSX compatible, are fixed. I suggest you do the same. It is well documented that the problems are on their end, not on ours. You got duped by their false claims of FSX compatibility. Make sure no one else does. I try to when I have the opportunity.

And what makes it even worse is they are charging more now than FSDT or FlyTampa.

When you complain, be sure to use your Order# in the subject line. They disregarded all my e-mails until I started doing so.

The sad part is I used to be a big Imaginesim a really excited user. I like the airports they have chosen and the fact that the attempted DTW in FS9 made me like them even more. The problems with their so called FSX compatible scenery is what has turned me on them. They should be doing nothing else other than fixing those sceneries. To me, until they update their so called FSX compatible scenery of to true FSX compatibility, they are crooks. In fact, no FS website should accept advertising $ from them until they do so.

You will have to open the images in the respective scenery texture folder using ImageTool. Then select create mipmaps and save. Back up your orig first just incase.Jim

Richard,Are you having problems with shimmering or severely low frame rates?

Both. I uninstalled and reinstalled and the stuttering and severe drop in frame rate was more prononced.

What version of FSX are you using. Again, this is probably due to the issue with Imaginesim's CLT scenery and has nothing to do with you. I wouldn't go through too much trouble trying to rectify it. Email Imaginesim and complain. There is a fix posted here in the forum. Search Imaginesim. It is pretty complicated and I have not tried it.

After reading this thread I am wondering if KCLT is only 100% compliant with FSX SP2 and not Accel. The reason being is that I own KLCT, KATL, and TJSJ, and out of the three of them KCLT gives me probably the best FPS, usually around 30 FPS or higher day or night, with or without AI. Actually out of the three Imaginesim sceneries I own, I proabably get the best FPS at this one, with TJSJ being second and KATL being third, altough KATL still performs well, usually 25 FPS, considering the size of the airport.I'm running KCLT and all my other Imaginesim airports on FSX SP2 and while I can't remember any performance specifics when I first installed it, I remember that the first time I loaded it it was pretty shimmery. I then batched most of the textures to DXT3 with mip maps and it fixed all the image problems.Since mipping all the KCLT textures I haven't had one issue performance wise with this airport, even with flying the PMDG 747 or any other complex a/c into it, and my rig is antique compared to what is out now, which make me wonder if running Accel and this airport together cause a problem.

After reading this thread I thought twice of purchasing their so-called "FSX Ready" KIAD scenery, to which I've refused to purchase since and went the BluePrint way, which still gives reasonable framerates, about 10-20fps despite owning a weak computer. If you have to compare this to anything that rivals Imagine "Stinks" Simulations, I'd say that FSDT or BluePrint fits the bill nicely. Until then, I'll be sticking with freeware AFCAD fixes for the default airport. And it was no wonder why I chose Samsoft's WSSS in the end. All they did was to simply fix the BGL files in order to switch to the more compatible version, and it was not something that had been created from scratch completely for FSX. If you choose to buy their TJSJ products, I strongly advise against doing so. A freeware download, also from BluePrint, is good enough to ensure both good detail and reasonable framerates, and it saves you money. If you ask me between ImagneSim's KDFW and Gottfried Razek's scenery, I'd say that the latter suits you the best. Besides saving hard-earned money, it has something that ImagineSim will probably never publish in the near future: surrounding photoscenery. It also improves some of the airport's detail, and while not being in FSX native nature, still improves the detail sharply. So yes, I've crossed off their KDFW scenery from my Christmas list for this year, as well as KCLT, KIAD, WSSS, VHHH and KLGA. Thank you for your thoughtful thoughts, and it really drives me away from rubbish completely unsuitable to fit in my beloved yet weak hard disk. Dave.
