I subscribe to both PC PILOT and COMPUTER PILOT. They both are good reading. If I had to pick one, it would be PC PILOT as it is more informative overall. :(

I dont subscribe to those two, but I buy them as well from the book store, altough not so much in the past few months.I think they are both good, but considering how much you can read on Avsim and other FS related sites, I don't think you will find much in those magazine that you wont see for free on the web. Not only that but those magazine are always a month or two behind on current FS events due to the time delay between them writting the story and it getting printed and published. Many times I will buy either magazine only to read articles I have already seen the same info posted on or about here at Avsim or another FS site.

Not really read Computer Pilot that much, although I do think it is a pretty decent magazine. PC Pilot I have more experience of, since I used to buy all the time although these days I just tend to pick it up every once in a while. It has had some extremely good articles in it over the years, especially the series they did on how to fly the PMDG B747 properly, which they ran over quite a few issues. The flight tutorial stuff in PC Pilot is excellent and a real strong point of the magazine.Note that I might be a bit biased here though, since the PC Pilot deputy editor is a buddy of mine, however I can say that I'd formed that opinion about PC Pilot magazine before I actually knew her, or indeed before she had that job.Al

PC Pilot by nautical miles! The major selling point for these mags is currently the Night Flying guide - helps me to get myself a good depth perception for night landing. And thanks to their unrivaled reviews of the major products, such as Audio Environment X that I currently have, I think I know the things that I'm gonna add to my Christmas list (I've actually started this list since October 31!) I've got a subscription with Computer Pilot which I'm very happy with. I could get a subscription with PC Pilot too since neither of them appear in the magazine store in my town but it ships from the UK and so it is usually pretty old by the time I get it. I live in Australia and PC Aviator have a store in Melbourne which makes purchasing real handy. You usually get a cover DVD with PC Pilot which you don't get with Computer Pilot but CP now has a huge product catalogue at the start of the magazine which is fun to browse through.I'd say you'd be happy with either one.

For awhile I was not impressed by either mag as I felt they were just "infomercials" for products. They never seemed to approach the issues from a hobbyist's point of view (strictly a personal opinion). Computer Pilot adds something like a 100 page catalog to every issue which got a little old. But as looked at some past issues of PC Pilot I became more impressed with their articles - not just reviews of commercial products. Plus they include a CD with every issue packed with goodies I don't have time to look for.So to be fair, I thought I would give both another try and then decide to keep one or both. So I have purchased a subscription to both. Funny, you post just reminded me of something. Computer Pilot had a promotion going so I wanted to add two years to my new subscription so I asked if that was possible. Sent an email about a week ago and no reply. The promotion just ended last night on Nov 30th. Too bad - they just lost another subscriber. So I am now leaning towards PC Pilot.Clutch

Glad to have you in the PC Pilot fan club - I never subscribed to any of the two magazines, but as I said above PC Pilot wins by miles, in fact, it always surprised me with a number of freewares that had become my number 1 favourites since I first entered the serious flight simulation world. And interestingly, they have also kindly provided me with the Aeroplane Heaven Avro Lancaster that I've been dreaming of since I received my first warbird, a freeware Spitfire by A.F. Scrub. But that wasn't the only one that caught my attention - the others that did were favourite freewares, such as the honorably mentioned P-180 Avanti by Mario Noriega, or several notable freeware sceneries on my very first copy of PC Pilot - Issue 63. What's best about their copies were those flying guides, especially the one about night flying, the most recent one coming out on Issue 69. This, as always, eased me on overseas flights between PHNL and WIII, as I always arrived late at night, probably around 0300hrs local time. Kudos to Derek and co. for creating such useful guides! Dave.

I have the same problem here in N. Texas, I used to get PC pilot At my local Fry's store but they quit carrying it. PC pilot also has a disc on the cover which sometimes has demos and freeware planes you can download off the disc. :)
